Thanks. I felt the Tecsun held its own in this comparison. I just replaced my Satellit 500 (which I loved) with a with a PL-880 to downsize a bit. I am mostly happy with it for it's size and price. One thing I don't miss about the 500 is the 'chunk, chunk, chunk' when spinning the tuning knob. The real question is if the Tecsun radios will last 25 years like my 500 did and still sound like new.
Wonder how the 501 woulda done on NORMAL sensitivity? The 501 seems to have more treble/highs which might hurt it's rating. I detect a tonal difference & loudness between the 2. Louder will almost always sound "better". The 500 is a keeper & the 501 is not one better. Thanx for the vid and your service.
Thank you for this. I definitely prefer the 500! In fact I've decided I'm going to buy one when a suitable one becomes available. 73s and GDX

The Tecsun H-501X has separate treble & bass controls (not sure where they were set for this demonstration).
Grundig's sound is much-much netter - more comfortable to listen, solid and rich sound!
As I expected, there's no "digital progress" at all, old grandpa Grundig offers the better choice - if you are lucky to get one!
Grundig all the way tecsun still no better 30 years
On tecsun way behind too expensive old hat
Grundig better.
