I totally agree spending the money on the actual trip rather than on expensive gear. Those original BMW parts are priced stratospherically high.. It's a shame that you're selling the bike, I hope you get something cool after that, like a used Ducati Multistrada or something..
Yeah even if I had the money I don't think I could justify some of the really expensive parts. The bike is getting sold so that I can have more opportunities for the channel. I bought a couple cool project cars to make videos on real quick but after I'm done with them, I will be on the lookout for a new project bike!
$3500... I'm more into my stock Sportster and let me tell you, it is NOT an adventure bike. Doing 3,000 miles from Phoenix to Cabo and back last year made me really want a GS. Anyway, I think a lot of us appreciate where youre comin from. Its about the ride, not the price tag. Subbed
I will have to give a Harley a try one day, I’ve always been more in to foreign stuff but I’m always willing to give new stuff a shot. Riding to Cabo sounds like a great time! Thanks for watching!
@AgatasKatkus it is an absolutely awesome ride . The event was Amorak (Mexican club) and it was 24hrs from TJ to Cabo (plus the whole ride to and from Phoenix). If you get a Sportster, I definitely recommend the Hammer performance kit. My bike wouldnt have kept up without it. Ride safe, brother!
Adventure biking is just suuuuper expensive because people are willing to pay for it. I got myself a Suzuki XF650 and bought parts from Ali and eBay, it all holds up and cost like 1/4th of what I would have paid for high quality parts even though I wouldn't pay a lot for shipping in Germany..
Yeah that's very true, some people wait there whole life to do a big motorcycle trip and then go all out on stuff they don't even need lol. I really don't mind spending the money if its worth it. An example would be camping gear next time lol. For the most part though a lot of it works the same and even looks the same.
It's the perfect allrounder, I owned one twice ! Sold it to make some money and bought it back 5 years later The guy rode it hard and didn't maintain it, it had 2 oil leaks, that was about it
@@C4H10N4O2 to be brutally honest I like the Freewind but I don't love it.. probably gonna sell it next year, had some fun in the Pyrenees but that's all the experience I needed with it :D
All right-enough teasing us. When are you launching the fashion channel? Great series, thanks for investing the time to share it with us. Adventure on a budget will inspire a lot of folks to get out there.
The fashion channel would go hard😂😂 Straight thrift stores, yard sales, and temu lol I'm glad you enjoyed! I hope some people just full send and get out into the world!
You might not be aware of it but reviews like these are quite important! Here in Europe most car manufacturers use the Partneo software (or similar) from Accenture, which increases the prices of spare parts systematically. So it's overpriced by default and it harms your right to repair! With Stellantis it's a Mopar issue as well. To be clear I usually don't buy cheap Chinese stuff because the risk of supporting slave work is inherent but as buying is the only power the customer has, it's relevant to test cheap alternatives! So thanks a lot.
Dang that sucks to hear, similar thing is starting to happen here as well. We need to protect the right to repair! I don't really like supporting the Chinese economy for that reason and more but its become increasingly harder when pretty much everything comes from there now and is just relabeled. I used to be against people bringing me cheap Chinese parts for customer cars but in the next couple videos I tried out more alternatives and they have been working out so far. Appreciate you as always!
i’m inspired by this to finally kit out my YBR125 over winter to get ready for next year. Some hard cases would be nicer than the roll up soft side bags. We all wanna get the most adventure per dollar, obviously!
Hard cases were cool, but after seeing some other peoples setups, i'm not entirely sure I would do them again. They have knock offs of the MOSKO soft cases on Ali that look like they are good. They are only like $60 too. Kit it out though!
@ i’ve hated always having to roll stuff up just to get at my water bottle… but i’ve been looking at options other than hard cases too. Maybe i just need a cupholder lol.
Impressive they have so much direct bolt on stuff from China for the GS. Those cases look like a real deal, I looked up the name brand cases once, its unbelievable how expensive they are, ADV got big, so did the prices! I didn't get a Goldwing on my recent trip to the other side of Canada, buuuutttt I got a 2007 Vstar 1100 like new, full touring cases, for a very good price from the dad of my good friend, its not my kind of bike (I don't understand cruiser styling or low HP #'s exactly), but its ready to tour back across Canada next summer, so maybe it'll become my kind of bike!
It's pretty crazy how much bolt on stuff they have for a lot of bikes too. Glad to hear about your new bike purchase, I'm not huge on cruisers either but they are special in there own way. I think its fun to rotate bike styles often. I think I want to buy a cruiser as my next bike. Probably won't keep it too long though lol. I'm excited about your trip through Canada that sounds like it will be a blast!
@@AgatasKatkus Thanks man! I've had 40 cars or so, almost never the same one 2x, I like to try everything! I really want a FJR1300 etc, and mostly have sports\standard bikes, but I rode cruisers a few times, and they were pretty fun! I think the image of straight pipe Harley morons, I hate so much though, that it clouds my judgement on cruisers, I must cleanse this with trying one of my own, get that clear perspective! (I never tend to keep things long like you, but endlessly repairing new stuff gets old too!) I've never done a long motorcycle trip, ever! either Toronto to Prince-edward-island or toronto to calgary is the idea. Dreaming of summer as its -14c and snowing outside, sigh, look forward to your next videos!
Loved the full length vid, and this is icing on the cake. Thanks for a great series, I came for the clutch change and got dragged along for the ride - I got a Namib Orange 2008 version and was browsing the internet when the thumbnail of "my" bike drew me in. Since then I also bought a lot of the same Temu stuff too :D Can't resist! The crash bars only have to work once and they've paid for themselves, 100% agree on your budget logic - I could afford the BMW luggage so I got the full set, I'd always wanted a 1200GS and I liked the look, so I spent the money but otherwise it's budget stuff. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next, take care of yourself :) Paul from Australia.
Glad you enjoyed it I thought it was more fun to watch as a whole. Happy you stayed along for the journey! I like cool colors and I don't think I've ever seen an orange one for sale here! Temu gets me on small stuff I don't really need but adds some character to my gear lol. Sounds like your bike has a good mixture of stuff! Glad to have you here! Take care Paul!
One personal piece of advice: be careful with Chinese Handguards. I had some knock off Acrebis ones on my DR650. They broke in half with the third drop of the bike... So I bought the legitimate ones after and they didn't fail after countless drops. You never know what alloy they are using, but in my case it wasn't worth cheaping out...
Thanks for the advice! I was actually looking into some of those Acrerbis ones. Good to know its worth the money to buy the real ones! Thanks for watching!
