To everyone who thinks they are good at computer programming, this game runs super smooth on a machine that has half a megabyte of RAM, and communicates directly with the hardware. Each map is gigantic, there are detailed animations and cute touches (eg you can stomp on those walking robots) and the whole game fits on a 880kb disk. See a modern coder do that!
Yea, I was just watching this game and thinking about how SMOOTH looks the walking animation. Games didn't looked like this even 5 years later. Maybe on late era SNES/early PS1. Probably earliest game reaching this level of quality was Rayman, I think? It's just absurd how much work was put into this gem.
One of the most amazing games of history. From the date it was developed up to many years to come there had never been another one like this. And what about the soundtrack.....Thank you for uploading it and making me go back to wonderful times...
The Amiga will never be forgotten it's one of the legends of all time , Turrican 2 , Swiv , Grand prix and other fav's lotus and Lemmings. In my mind the amiga was one of the first true gaming consoles.
Turrican. I forgot all about this for so long. One of my favorite side scrollers of all time. It was like mega man meets contra XD srsly Loved this game. Loved the video brought back alot of memories :)
OMG I had forgotten the name of this game and I found it today! I am so happy, this game is just fantastic and the music is wonderful! I had some emotions when I reheard it ♥ Hurrah for Turrican, the best game ever!!
classic game love the stage music on first level i would luv a next gen release great game but ill love the old amiga great machine for its time lots of great memories of great gaming cant beat it
Most likely my favorite Amiga platformer... Traces of many other favorites - Antiriad, Rygar, Rastan and with that longevity 16-bit home computer element added.
@SoldierPayne I used to do that as well then I discovered that if the energy beam was long enough and you stood at the correct distance you could hit the boss in a continuous stream and keep the beam going when it jumped to hit the falling pieces of rock
Excellent music! As always for Commodore. I loved the C64 version, and didnt get to see this amiga version. It looks the Business. And those synth sounds throughout: Love it. Throw in some guitars, and it would sound like Van Halen!
I played this all the time with my big brother, I was like 8 years old. Actually I forgot the name of the game, I tried but I just could'nt (drove me crazy !). I remembered suddenly, few days ago... weird :-p thanks for the vid, good memories :)
I played this all the time with my big brother, I was like 8 years old and not very good at it (lol) Actually I forgot the name of the game, I tried to remember for years but I just couldn't...and it finally popped into my head, a few days ago... weird. thanks for the vid, good memories :)
is there any game i spent more time on? remember finishing it with dozens of 1ups over and over again. This is highly, highly adictive! Plus awesome music from chris. One of the best games of all times!
Oops :-) I wrote about the waterworld level music: Do you mean the waltz? It´s called "the great bath" At SLAY Radio, they often play a classic Remix :-)
Oh, so I first must have the player for TFMX files. I just have found the Soundmonitor 64, a tracker programm for C64, but as I know, it doesnt´support samples, but Hülsbeck also used drum samples for example in his tunes.
@JairLuke Theres been talk of a new Turrican since the late ninties and I've seen nothing but a few stills of a very early build of a 3D turrican which was going to be released on the old Xbox the PS2 and what at the time was still called the Nintendo Dolphin
THE VIDEOGAME TURRICAN 2 THAT WAS MADE FOR COMODORE AMIGA 500 IT COULD BE A GREAT SUCCESS EVEN IN TWO DIMENSIONS LIKE THE ORIGINAL BECAUSE IT HAS AN AMAZING PLAYABILITY AND BEAUTYFUL SOUND THAT EMERGES THE PLAYERS !
Concerning Silkworm, you should try Swiv on the Amiga! It is meant to be the next Silkworm. The intro music simply k-i-c-k-s a-s-s !!! Search for "amiga swiv" on RUclips. The gameplay is in full screen, you view the map from top!
@JairLuke Seriously??Too bad I only have a 360 -_-' :p !However this is a good news ! I hope that Chris Huelsbeck will work on it too. In my point of view ,Amiga games had something special we can no longer find in present games... I miss that time...
at 0:53 mins, the little walker machine thingies can be killed by jumping on them too.they're spaced wide enough so you can get them all.. it's quite funny as well as the sound they make!!
That first boss, I used to jump up on his rifle and shoot him in the head instead... I was young and thought I was a badass doing that. lol. Great game, but the music is what makes it SO great. I can listen to this forever...
"Anyone know what the sound of the spreadshot-extra and the lightning-extender-extra sound mean? i coudn't understand it." Spreadshhot = multiple dunno about the other one right now (sorry for not running T2 atm :( ). Now then: Great video, really. I'm planning on challenging you though... so, what prog did you use? the progs I've used have all had sound sync. problems (can't really come up with the names as they are long gone)..
Does anyone know where can I find the Guitar Pro tablatures for this music? Or even if they exist? Searching through Google I couldn't find any Chris Huelsbeck's music tabs... =/ I've already learnt the main melody lines... At least I think so. I'd like then to learn the Arpeggios' parts, 'cause I didn't get it "by ears" yet... =P
You can play all the tunes with subsongs in winamp using TFMX plugin. It even mixes the stereo better :) Not a single Turrican2 song is less than exceptional.
@Markusthe3rd asdfasdfdasf. I still don't get the 1up's right on the level where you fly that.. thing? 100 years and I still always miss them. Embarassing.
i remember playing this years ago awsome game! i also have this on the mega drive not quite as good But why the hell was that version called universal soldier!! everyone knew it was turrican 2
if you just jump and shoot him with the laser at maximum level when he pauses, it kills him much quicker, and you can doing without getting hit.. flawless victory! that spring loaded accordeon type dragon thing at 3.32 min can be killed with just 3-5 shots of the laser at max level, just fire in quick bursts.
Turrican vs Metroid? I mean cmon how badass would that be. I mean Turricans only advantage is when he rolls into a ball he turns into a razor saw and shoots out blast waves. Other than that fair fight :D
@C0mpre55m3 "It was however a shit hot midi seqencing machine. " But just because Logic (Creator, Notator Logic by C-Lab, later Emagic) and the proper hardware was only available for the ST. The Amiga was technically better in every way.
This music alone is a piece of art for itself!
And all done in assembly too! My head hurts just thinking about it.
Yea, I was just watching this game and thinking about how SMOOTH looks the walking animation. Games didn't looked like this even 5 years later. Maybe on late era SNES/early PS1. 20 years later and this still looks fabulous. The gameplay, graphic, brillaint music, level design.
One of the most amazing games of history. From the date it was developed up to many years to come there had never been another one like this. And what about the soundtrack.....Thank you for uploading it and making me go back to wonderful times...

remember playing a magazine demo of this level and finding that secret one-up was one of the best gaming experiences Ive had since
A lot of memories come to my head... good times, no troubles, no headaches, no pressures... just fun.
Thanks for the vid man.
Turrican. I forgot all about this for so long. One of my favorite side scrollers of all time. It was like mega man meets contra XD srsly Loved this game. Loved the video brought back alot of memories :)
Crazy to think this game was running on Motorola 68000 with assembly and pcm 4 channel 8bit and even used pseudo 7 channels of sound.
OMG I had forgotten the name of this game and I found it today!
I am so happy, this game is just fantastic and the music is wonderful! I had some emotions when I reheard it ♥
Hurrah for Turrican, the best game ever!!
Just played a few minutes ago. Everything still works great 26 years later.
I love this! :)
I can actually feel my childhood when I watch this.
Wow reliving some great memories playing on my amiga! haha amazing
classic game love the stage music on first level i would luv a next gen release great game but ill love the old amiga great machine for its time lots of great memories of great gaming cant beat it

Loveeeeeed this game, the music takes me back to the good ol days :)
Quality game, in every department. Love it.
@SoldierPayne I used to do that as well then I discovered that if the energy beam was long enough and you stood at the correct distance you could hit the boss in a continuous stream and keep the beam going when it jumped to hit the falling pieces of rock

Jesus wept, i loved this game to bits. I had a cracked version I would play from beginning to end over and over :p
I played this all the time with my big brother, I was like 8 years old.
Actually I forgot the name of the game, I tried but I just could'nt (drove me crazy !). I remembered suddenly, few days ago... weird :-p

Oops :-) I wrote about the waterworld level music:

@JairLuke Theres been talk of a new Turrican since the late ninties and I've seen nothing but a few stills of a very early build of a 3D turrican which was going to be released on the old Xbox the PS2 and what at the time was still called the Nintendo Dolphin
tears in my eyes
@Zeddicus1976

Do you mean the waltz?
It´s called "the great bath"
At SLAY Radio, they often play a classic Remix :-)
This game was awesome! And it would still be if I could play it on my PC ;__;... just the musics makes me want to shed tears.
good job, turrican 2 was my favorite game on the amiga. 5/5
2:30 is an awesome part of this great tune!!!
i love it!
Insanely good music.
As a c64 kid i was always jealous of the far greater amiga graphics. The soundtracks from the c64 beats amiga any day though.
except Turrican 2 has one of the best soundtracks ever made

Such great memories :D
only ceephax acid crew can come close to replicating this
Exactly the way I remember it 😍😍🔥🔥☢️☢️
SHADOW COMPLEX IS WHAT TURRICAN SHOULD LOOK LIKE TODAY!!I HOPE THEY CAN DO TURRICAN LIKE SHADOW COMPLEX MECHANICS AND GRAPHICS.

So this is Universal Soldier before it got changed and basing it on a movie.
TURRICAN II is best of all Titles !!!
Does anyone know where can I find the Guitar Pro tablatures for this music? Or even if they exist? Searching through Google I couldn't find any Chris Huelsbeck's music tabs... =/
I've already learnt the main melody lines... At least I think so. I'd like then to learn the Arpeggios' parts, 'cause I didn't get it "by ears" yet... =P

@Latsch82 Yes, that part is my favorite.
I would like to know where i can find the tutorials for the 1st stage music for keyboard... =/
