The rainbow is clearly a symbol of hope, that God wants the world to continue despite its conflicts and many problems. But each of us is called to change what we can around us and bring hope to others.
Look to the Rainbow Astrud Gilberto On the day I was born, said my father, said he, I've an elegant legacy waiting for ye. Tis a rhyme for your lips and a song for your heart, To sing whenever the world falls apart. Look, look, look to the rainbow. Follow it over the hill and stream. Look, look, look to the rainbow. Follow the fellow who follows a dream. Follow the fellow, follow the fellow, Follow the fellow who follows a dream. 'Twas a sumptuous gift bequeathed to a child. Oh, the lure of that song Kept her feet running wild. For you never grow old and you never stand still With a whippoorwill singing beyond the next hill. So, I bundled me heart and I roamed the world free. To the east with the lark Tow the west with the sea. And I searched all the world and I scanned all the skies. But I found it at last in my own true love's eyes.

Thanks. I just finished listening to the old vinyl of the original 1960 Broadway cast. It was great. Then I started listening to Patty LaBelle singing it and my eyebrows shot up. Going to try again. Interesting rendition.

Look to the Rainbow
Astrud Gilberto
On the day I was born,
said my father, said he,
I've an elegant legacy
waiting for ye.
Tis a rhyme for your lips

To sing whenever the world falls apart.
Look, look, look to the rainbow.
Follow it over the hill and stream.
Look, look, look to the rainbow.

Follow the fellow who follows a dream.
'Twas a sumptuous gift bequeathed to a child.

Finian's Rainbow was the first acting job and equity show I did with my mom, dad and sister. It brings back some great memories!
I used to play this song, as a piano pupil in the 1970's and I loved it then, and more so now, that I heard the voice who sang it.
I got to sing this as a solo in 8th grade at a choir concert brings back great memories
Simply amazing song !!! I love it !!!
Dinah Washington does this beautifully.
What a wonderful song!

I'm not saying the words in my voice solo so I'm time stamping it to get right to it.

Beautiful voice
She's from England, but she's using an Irish accent for the movie. She's had many hits and they're on youtube. Her name is Petula Clark.
clarence fender this is actually Kate Baldwin, in the cast recording of the last revival of Finian’s Rainbow
I just listened to the version from the "New Broadway Cast Recording" and that is what this is. Kate Baldwin is the lady's name.

@@lindaray8352LaBelle's performance is the most stirring I've seen.
I have been hearing this over and over in my mind. Unfortunately, the bridge..is not on any album offered on line.
Great uplifting philosophy..

Finian's Rainbow is a stage musical from 1947, which was made into a film in 1968. The singers are Kate Baldwin and Cheyenne Jackson.
Baldwin & Jackson were part of the 2009 short-lived Broadway revival.
I prefer Petula Clark's version from the 1968 film.
