I remember seeing this trope, but because I don't live in America, I always just assumed that this was a cultural disconnect thing, like this was something very common and normal in the states, like American school buses and suburbs

In case nobody has mentioned it, I remember there was a Chowder episode with this premise, though iirc it was for a giant stand mixer, which makes sense because it's Chowder
to be fair it didn't win anything, just got a few nominations. but still. they make musicals about the absolute weirdest shit. one of the many reasons i love that particular art form. i'm going to see the revival of tommy tomorrow. the rock opera that posits "what if a disabled guy was just really good at pinball?"
Every sitcom has this joke: Person A to Person C: Get out of here! Person B to Person A: I'll handle this, you stay out of it! Person B to Person C: Get out of here! Obviously the identical 1st/3rd line varies depending on the situation. But I seriously think that's been in every sitcom I watched.
HooH is one of those musicals that lives or dies based on good casting, and that company was spot-on perfection. Still not sure WHY the lead guy from Phish wrote a musical on this subject but I can't lie, it was a likeable enough show. The 2013 Tonys was a big disappointment in general though, ngl. ANYWAY. I didn't watch most of these shows so I didn't realize the subject became a trend for a hot second back in the day, nearly a decade after the documentary. Makes sense as a way to get a bottle episodes with most or all of the cast involved.
Fun fact. In China they have competitions where people have to keep their mouth on nipples pasted all over a car until the last person was suckling. I've seen it up until at least 2007.
Though it's not necessarily as interesting of content, the hand on car trend has even made it to RUclips. But I think regardless of where its applied, the intent is the same. Advertising.
