I remember listening to songs like this back in high school, they’re dark songs but for some reason I loved it. I would pop a couple Vicodin and chill out and occasionally listen to this stuff when I would feel depressed. It’s weird how I was on the constant edge of ending my life and in some weird way liked it. Almost like when I was happy and laughing I felt like it was out of place but driving around in my car, zoned out and high, listening to this, contemplating going home and shooting myself with tears in my eyes felt good and felt like I was in place. It’s hard to explain but I’m sure I’m not the only one who gets it. For those of you who don’t know, depression ain’t no joke. The best way I can describe it is like falling down a never ending flight of stairs without being able to grab ahold of anything but for all those who might be in a similar situation or for anyone at all- I want you to know our lives are valuable and every second on this earth is a gift no matter how painful and no matter how dark. I can tell you that every single human being has purpose. Sometimes we don’t believe or can’t see our value or purpose because we can’t see in the darkness. What I want to share with you all is how to come out of that darkness and that is by making the decision to turn from the life style your on right now and stop rebelling against God and his commandments and seek his mercy, make the decision to come to the light found in Christ Jesus and find forgiveness for your sins. We as humans get so turned around in this world because we lost our way, we do what is right in our own eyes and hate God and all that is good. We live in our sins and we love it- the result is depression, brokenness, hopelessness, no peace, and no rest. It’s because we have been made by God and created for Him, to do what is good but in our ignorance we avoid God, like a criminal avoids the police. God will demand justice for your sins, for every act of breaking Gods law there will be eternal punishment. God will not forgive just like any good judge in a courtroom will not let the guilty walk free. The problem you face is being guilty of crimes in Gods courtroom. Just like our courts, good deeds do not “outweigh” bad ones, for every crime there must be justice carried out. Our debts must be paid and we cannot pay them ourselves without going to hell BUT God provided a way to make peace with him. Jesus Christ paid the penalty we deserve, he wasnt just hung on a cross but during that time he took the full wrath and anger that God will otherwise give you on the day of judgement. It’s only by turning from your sins, admitting and confessing them to God and trusting in Jesus Christ (that he paid the penalty you deserve) that you are saved from the wrath to come and are saved on judgement day. I was just like you all, loving the darkness but I’ve been given the chance to make peace with God through his Son Jesus Christ. You have that chance. Your purpose in life is to either follow Christ obediently or live in carelessness now and suffer wrath. If you refuse to repent or refuse to respond to God your blood is on your own hands. Right now you are headed for eternal hopelessness and suffering but right now while you are still alive you have the opportunity to make peace.
I completely get what you meant when you said you felt in place during your darkest moments. Last summer was my darkest era easily. I was so damned lonely and I actually found Cage during that time aswell. It was almost like I'd been in that dark place for so long that I started finding comfort in the only thing that didn't change in my life. I'd been on that downward spiral for around 3 years straight by that point, and it almost came to a head, but thank God it didn't. I felt out of place anytime I felt even remotely happy and almost took solace in knowing that I had a blanket of depression to wrap myself in. I ended up finding a great girl and I'm not so lonely anymore, but I still feel kind of out of place because I only recently dug myself out of that hole probably about 5 months ago. It is true though, we are all valuable and nobody should ever listen to that feeling that they are supposed to be extremely depressed and suicidal.
King Geniurah I know you had a simple question but I can’t seem to answer in a simple way. Many believe in God. In that perspective even the devil believes in God (or believes God exists but the devil clearly isn’t in good terms with God) What matters is how we react to knowing God exists. Years ago I prayed to God every day but didn’t have a clue as to how God commands us to live so I did whatever I thought was right in my own eyes. Long story short, I believed in God but didn’t really know (or want to know) how God wanted me to live. Ignorance is no excuse tho. The way we can learn Gods will for your life or know how we can actually please Him is by reading the Bible, in it you’ll find we all are born loving the things God hates. We love our porn, we love stepping on others for gain and using others for pleasure, we devote our lives to making money and trust in everything besides God for happiness. God knows all of this and it all provokes God to anger. The Bible tells us who God is, what He expects of us, how we are to live, but also how we can make peace with Him because of our sins. It’s no surprise you like the dark music because we all are born liking darkness and sin but -If you are willing to give up your love for sin and give up your love for pleasure and give up your life and follow Christ Jesus with the remainder of your life God has promised to forgive your sins and change your desires and change your heart so that you’ll begin to hate the things God hates and love the things God loves. Jesus Christ made the way for you to have peace, trust in Him with the remainder of your life, make the decision to follow Him and your affections will be changed so that you won’t like the darkness and instead love the light. If you’re feeling uncomfortable about all this, or if you want to make sure you’ll go to heaven let me know or visit needGod.com I’ll be praying for you friend. All in love
NerdRoomCollectibles absolutely, hey and I’m glad you found someone! Having someone you can be open and honest with is so important. We’re social creatures, we’ve been made with emotions and feelings and it’s weird how often we try to suppress them. I want you to know that we may “turn a new leaf” in life and find temporary happiness but the more we lean on these things the harder the fall will be when they don’t bring us the same satisfaction. Consider who we are, we spend our lives looking for happiness and satisfaction. We look for it everywhere and we might find it temporarily in a relationship, new hobbies, new ways of thinking, different jobs, diets, drugs. The key word is temporary, like a misquote never seems to be satisfied it just goes from one thing to another. We live the same way, but I want to tell you you’ll never find true joy, peace, satisfaction until you come to the One who designed you with these desires. All other things are temporary and imperfect, you can try and lean on them but you’ll end up falling because they can’t truly support or supply you fully. I want to tell you about the Rock, the stable ground, the foundation that you can build your life on and won’t end up crumbling under your feet. You are designed for an ultimate relationship with God, made in His image you have value above anything else on this plant. Your relationship begins when you let go of and turn from everything else you’re hoping to find satisfaction in (repentance) and turn to Jesus Christ who made the way for a perfect relationship with God to be possible. Trust in Jesus alone for salvation because it’s appointed for a man to die once then come judgement. Read the gospel of John, you can find it online or on a bible app. Think about why Jesus spoke the way He did.
