Going to the "Schweizerhaus" you should eat their signature dish there. The wonderful knuckle of pork accompanied with a perfect Budweiser beer on tap.
One knuckle is enough for 2-3 people (or 1 very hungry one 😄). Everytime I go there I'm looking forward to this delight.

    I am Viennese:
Figlmüller is okay, but I think that Meissl & Schaden (more €€€), Plachutta, or even Pürstner (cheaper) are just as good.
I have never got Schnitzel at Schweizerhaus. Whenever we got to Schweizerhaus, even with family from outside of Vienna, we always get the Stelze. It is the best in Austria.
Griechenbeisl is a very old and famous restaurant and there I would recommend Tafelspitz.
Myself and many other Austrians don't get why foreigners love Sachertorte so much. To us it is mid and our grandmas make it better. A Germknödel is so much better. I recommend Café Tirolerhof.
I never knew anyone who gets a Schnitzl at Café Central. Most of the time Café Central I just recommend for a single short visit for a coffee and cake and then go on to other things. It is really pricey and overrated.
Better for brunch (and if you live avocado toast) -- Klyo, it is located on the Donaukanal in the Urania observatory.
I think a better place for coffee is Café Hawelka, because they are also famous for their Buchtel but it is also quite expensive/over priced.

A "Wiener Melange" does not have cream...it is just either a Mocca (in traditional Viennese coffee houses) or an Espresso (everywhere else) with a little bit of milk + lots of milk foam.
There is an old Viennese Coffee Speciality with liquid cream but that coffee is named "Obermayer"..it is usually served only in traditional Viennese coffee houses and coffee and cream are then served seperately... and the liquid cream is chilly cold..and you have to pour the cream into the coffee via/over the backside of the spoon in order to avoid mixing up the cold cream with the hot coffee therefore on the top you have then the cold liquid cream and the hot coffee beneath which makes drinking that coffee to a "hot and concurrently cold" drinking experience.
There are also some old Viennese coffee specialities with whipped cream as well...also usually just served in traditional Viennese coffee houses..those are named
"Einspänner" (term for a one horse carriage = Mocca + whipped cream... served in a glass ..traditionally a wine glas with handle (although some serve it in a dessert glas as well nowadays) because originally that was in the Imperial times the carriage driver´s "coffee to go" and that wine glass was their private drinking glass which they just let fill up with coffee...the purpose of the whipped cream was just to seal up the hot fresh brewed coffee from the cold ambient air on the carriage´s coach box in order to preserve the heat of the coffee),
"Fiaker" (term for a horse carriage driver = double Mocca with whipped cream + additionally a shot of cherry rum... served in a glass ...also traditionally served in a wine glas with handle ..same background story as like as the Einspänner but this one was foremost so to say "the Winter version" for the carriage driver´s coffee to go)
"Maria Theresia" (basically like a Fiaker but has additionally a shot of apricot liquor instead of the Fiaker´s cherry rum and a bit orange cest on top... served in a dessert glass),
"Franziskaner" (named after Franciscan monks in regard to the dark brown colour of their monk´s cowl which is as like as the colour of that coffee = double Mocca + whipped cream),
"Kapuziner" (named after Capuchin monks in regard to the light brown colour of their monk´s cowl which is as like as the colour of that coffee = basically like a Melange with a little bit of milk but without milk foam but whipped cream instead and additionally chocolate sprinkles on top of the whipped cream....
....and by the way which most people do not know that old Viennese coffee speciality is basically "the blue print" for the Italian Cappuccino..The "Kapuziner" was brought to Northern Italy by Viennese soldiers who got stationed in Northern Italy in the early 19th century and that Viennese coffee basically "conquered" whole Northern Italy by storm at those times....after the Austrian Empire lost their Italian realms the Italians changed the whip cream for milk foam and the chocolate sprinkles for cacao powder as an act of italianizing that particular coffee (also because it became then a bit more affordable than having fancy whipped cream + fancy real chocolate sprinkles) which they also did with the German name "Kapuziner" which then became in Italian "Cappuccino")

1:06 Thats a really bad Schnitzel, send it back to the kitchen please! Its clearly made by multiple small pieces -> clear sign that the kitchen is cutting corners and recycling returned plates, frying them a second time and sending them out again. Its supposed to be one large thin piece of meat.
2:28 Demel is one of the best pastry shops in the city, they definitly do know their way around cakes. Personally I would recommend buying the cakes in the shop and eating it at home in private, the coffee house has no tradition whatsoever and was founded very recently as a tourist trap. Too crowded and stressful.
3:43 Thats a decent Schnitzel, now we are in business. btw the specialty of the Schweizer Haus is Stelze and beer, I recommend ordering that instead.
5:22 If you go to any coffee house you will find a long list with 10 - 20 different local coffee specialties. Melange is probably the most popular one and go-to version for most customers. But nowhere near the only one.
6:00 Avocado....in Vienna? Lets finance an item that is drying out Florida, pay an airplane to fly across an ocean just for me and pollute the environment because Im too arrogant for normal butter...cmon dude, you started so well...
8:36 Thats the third Wiener Schnitzel you ate in the same vid.....what about the rest of Vienniese Cuisine? No offense, but you are missing out^^
10:45 *drops the keyboard in desperation* *leaves the room to cool down*
10:57 I give you one better: Dont go to Cafe Central as it has become a tourist trap in these last years and has average quality food but rather go to a different coffee house in the city to expierience what the local coffee culture is actually about. General rule -> just because its the top result on google doesnt mean its any good. I could fire a dozen coffee house names with better cake and coffee quality and more history. For....someone who is obsessed with Wiener Schnitzel for some reason...so much they go to a COFFEE house for it....there are several locations in the city with a far better reputation on that. Schnitzelwirt in the 7th district is probably top of the list.

We love you style of commenting. You have humor while also being helpful. Love that! 🙌. Besides my obsession with schnitzels (it really was the reason to visit the birthplace of the Wiener Schnitzel) I guess we fell for a lot of tourist trap places on our first visit 🫣. We love visiting more local spots. And sometimes also ask locals for recommendations. But not in Vienna 🫣. So next time we definitely will 💪🏻. Schnitzelwirt was actually on our list btw. But we just didn’t have enough time…. Next time for sure Thanks for helping out and making us laugh at the same time 😉
