Roddy Frame is the epitome of boy genius , he wrote some of the very best songs, musically, melodically, and lyrically since the Beatles , i don't think he ever wrote a filler song, they all meant something to him. East Kilbride's finest, Take a bow Roddy, been a fan every step of the way
why so few views??? Roddy Frame is a musical genius. Period! One of the best bands of the 80s, no doubt
Few views because this is a smaller channel showcasing them.
I mean I just found out about them today
Why do you you give a rat's ass how many views there are?
Keith. That's how it goes. We know this. Cheers. :)
Es el más grande!
63 people obviously don’t know what great music is. This is a belter from Aztec camera. Stuck in the 80s
I first heard this song In around 2 AM in of January 1987 at a co-workers apartment after a company birthday party. It was a perfect moment and timing when the host played this song. A year later I lost my virginity to a girl that was at the party at another company party after party by the same host. I so miss the 80s as well as you Jen.
Azteca Camera 💪👍♥️ The Best 💯
80's Rules!!
I've searched for this tune for over 20 years ever since I heard it as a kid. I didn't know who sang it, could only remember one line of the lyrics but Google has clued me in that this could have been what I was looking for.
My journey is finally done.
Odd you should say that - my story behind this song is exactly the same. :)
In my case, the local radio DJ misquoted the name of the band - so when I first started looking for the song on the internet, I was going in a completely wrong direction and not getting anywhere.
Glad to have found it!
The same happened to me...but when I finally found it I became a Fan🤩
Aztec camera are a great Scottish band
Dig out High Land Hard Rain, and more especially LOVE both amazing albums, standing the test of time in 2020. You will not be disappointed.
Doncha' just love that??? :)
totally under appreciated this song deserved to be a top ten hit.
roddy frame a legend. what a talent
This is such a gorgeous song which was totally ignored back in 1988. I hope that this song deserves the love that it deserves.
I love Roddy and his band since I was teen....always felling the truth of his music and lyrics.... always enjoying his amazing voice.... Aztec Camera forever!!!!!! 💙💙💙
What a feckin tune!
Just listen to that amazing bass line pinning the whole song together!
Amaze balls!
👌👌👌😍
Wow, I completely forgot about this song. God bless the 80's and those forgotten little nuggets of gold!!
What a talented guy, and yes he was drop dead gorgeous.
Yes!!! Those eyes!
soooo gorgeous 😻
Aztec Camera was a criminally underrated band. I remember this little gem from 120 Minutes on MTV
They were big in Australia.
They were huge in Europe
Roddy knows his stuff. Saw him in 86. North Star to me was too thought out. Been rediscovering Surf and Western Skies. Loved Dreamland. Don't like Ryuchi's politics but him and Roddy made a great album.
I was listening to them in 83 when I was 10 and I still appreciate them today, this being one of their best tracks by far. Lovely band.
I was just wondering why 120 Minutes never played this video! Must have missed that episode, though I watched regularly. Nevertheless, I had the album and loved this song very much (still do).
The only artist ever to move me to tears on numerous occasions. The best singer/songwriter of his generation by a street.
One of them. He certainly deserved to have more big hits than he had.
and paddy mcaloon
Edwyn Collins of Orange Juice was pretty good too!
@@dougmedina4619 Because of EC or because of RF? Or because they are friends?
@@srl6018
Damned straight, Roddy's brilliant but Paddy's a bona fide genius
In a world like this such positive music is so refreshing to hear!
Roddy my crush😍 This song is pure joy, feeling that 80s vibes!
I bought Love on CD in 1988. I was obsessed with that LP. I still have the CD and a mint LP version that I only played once to save it. I taped the CD to a TDK MA-X 46 cassette which I still have too!
Takes me back to 1989(?), when Ana my half Brit/half Mexican 19 yr came to live with me in Chicago. I used to play this song for her. When I hear this tune I can still recall vividly the Gold Coast condo I lived in, the entertainment center with the stereo that played this tune. And in a blink of an eye, 25 yrs passed. But the memory marvelously accompanies me still.
Beautiful story. I wish my generation could make music this magical.
I met my Ana (Ann) in 1968. (89 upside down) Wow, good story! I am still married to this awesome woman...Except for one thing; she's half Portuguese! Sorry man, you should have never let her go? Respectfully.
Awesome.
This was released in 1987.
This should have been massive!
Excellence put to words and music. Didn't pay attention to Aztec Camera in the 80s, and how I wish I did. I was in Scotland for 2 years in the Navy, and there was nothing but a treasure trove of liquid platinum spewing out of the fountain of pop! I'm sure they came by Glasgow, and I WISH I'd seen them! This sound has been lost, and we'd only be so fortunate to get it back! Glad to have been part of the GREATEST Generation of music-the unequivocal 80s!!!
Roddy is CRIMINALLY underated for his guitar skills.
I heard that Mark Knopfler rated him as one of the best.
@larskirk6268 Roddys guitar playing is what made Aztec Camera stand out, Roddy used to support Aztec in concert by playing an acoustic set as Roddy Frame before Aztec went onstage, I saw it myself in 1990. Roddy played all styles but his soloing was awesome.
A woman I work with used to know Roddy and Edwyn Collins (Orange Juice) when they were younger and she knows a tale or two!
Please share them with us
I remember this song stayed in the charts for about 10 weeks without ever getting into the top 40, criminal.
Junio , 2024 alguien escuchando esta bellizima cancion ?
How gorgeous where you back then Roddy Frame ? You still are..... EKOK 1988 i was 16. Long after being a fan x
Forever grateful to Scott for introducing me to this band. LOVE this song. Thank you, Aztec Camera, for sharing your gifts with the world.
Do we have to guess who on earth that Scott guy is?
@@BilisNegra ~ Scott Ryser... my former hubby.
@@MsToniFrench Ok.
have loved them since we saw them play in college 1980s...Blue Note Columbia Missouri..remember the lyrics from this entire album. Such a unique sound
Knife album is just beautiful.
Man i forgot about this gem!! oh the 90's! The last decade for great music. Perfect track this one!!
My girl
She fled the fatherland
And all it's dumb demands
My Girl
She is the essence pure
She's super sure, she's got the cure
She's love ambassadress
With a message
Here comes the bottom line
Are we going to live together
Lovers over all
One unending understanding
Deep & wide & tall
My girl
She is the sweetest sound
When living lets me down
My girl
Can turn me on this way
From a world away
She's love's ambassadress
She's got a message
Here comes the bottom line
Are we going to live together
Lovers over all
One unending understanding
Deep & wide & tall
Song should have got a lot more attention ! Its great of the best songs of the 80s.
Absolute pure pop perfection!
Discovered and fell in love with this band as a teenager while digging deeper into 80's music (I'm 24 now). Great stuff, I certainly prefer this to the stuff of my own generation...
...And you're right to do so lol!
I was 17 when I saw Roddy Frame at Bimbos in SF.
Yay 80s is the best. So diverse, my generation 💜♐️
@@vellabella1 I was at that unplugged concert at Bimbos in the City too. Will never forget it. I’ve seen many great artists over the years-most with a much higher profile-but that evening remains unsurpassed in my concert-going experiences.
Sigo escuchando este tema en 2022! Cuántos recuerdos!
best 80's song , right there w/ go west's king of wishful thinking & omd's dreaming
I loved this song. It just popped into my head just now and I remembered how nice it sounded. Glad it was here.
Exquisito sonido 80s Prefab Sprout ❤ Aztec Camera ❤80s
Aguante Prefab!
Dave Mustaine (Megadeth): “We were in Paris and MTV was on. I remember I was really sick at the time, and Roddy Frame was singing Deep And Wide And Tall, and he’s just a really great pop songwriter. You can tell the metal guys that have successful, long-lasting careers are usually people that listen to music outside the obvious realm and have influences from outside metal. If we’re just repeating what our peers are doing, we’re not really pushing the envelope. 🙂
What a great Quote !
I only discovered this band because of Dave lol.
In 1987 I fell in love with the Aztec Camera "Love" poster in the room of a friend at boarding school. In 1989 I was given the "Love" and "High Land, Hard Rain" cassettes and I played them incessantly. In 2014 I saw Roddy Frame in concert at the Barbican and he sounded EXACTLY the same as his recordings. Today I'm still on the post-concert high, so I'm watching the videos that American MTV denied to me. 1987 me is totally crushing on 1987 Roddy Frame.
Yes, that's the first thing that came to mind!! MTV 120 min. Sunday night late!
I didn't care that I would have to get up early the next morning either!
Total class well ahead of its time such a fun song
80s was an awesome time, my generation
I knew Aztec Camera's songs without knowing they belong to them until now. They sounded a lot in the late 80s and early 90s. It's never too late XD
beautiful track this
"what unending understanding, deep and wide and tall"
Happy old days are made of this 🥰🥰🥰
Took me a long time to find this with my nostalgic detective work. Level 42 and Prefab Sprout complement this band nicely.
Prefab Sprout!
Big SAME
This song is a smile set to music!
You have a way with words...
An absolute classic
dat bassline tho!
Nice old skool skating! 1:59
A total classic 👍
Great Vid...Lovely song...Roddy Frame one of Scotlands finest...
12JUL2021 - I got this 1G. Have the original CD. I'm old. Love it. AC deserved so much more. That's OK. I still remember. My gosh, I'm 18 again when I listen to this. Try not to cry too much. Love this.
I know I'm gonna sound like an old fart, we need more music like this now! This band was so underrated. And Roddy, what a guitarist...
Wanting good Music doesn't make one a "Old Fart" !
Certainly not underrated back then, I've distant childhood memories of their early songs on the radio & TV, and I'm a Spanish dude, so... It is at present that that they are not properly celebrated anymore.
life affirming and joyful.
I heard this song when I was travelling around India a few years ago. I remembered it so vividly from my childhood that I assumed it must have been a big hit. I can't believe it didn't even make the top 40. It's brilliant!
1987. This song was very important for me at that time, because of the inner changes I was going through then.....
(divorce)
Hope your back on your feet. I takes awhile.
Nice to see a decent high fdef version of this - thanks Rhino!
Hermoso recuerdos!!! Hermosa música que lindo recuerdos!!
Great classic..!!!
Had tickets to go see them in the 80s twice, never made the concerts, got into an argument with my girlfriend twice🙄🤔crazy, well still with my lady 30 years later 4 kids, still listen to these guys, love this song
BEAUTIFUL SONG!!!!! I love this 💜♐️!!!
The Face could sure sing. Love this song!
Love it! So smooth and tuneful.
Love it - Love it - How the hell did this fantastic song pass me by...Always loved A.C and the immense talent, that is Roddy Frame..Top of my playlists now. Just brilliant !. 👍🌟
es una belleza, que ricura de musica
the perfect pop song
I had a big crush on Roddy 😍
The music is fortunately enough 108 times better than the video clip. And being at least 78 times better really was an utmost necessity.
Good times!
great tune and brings back oh so many memories
Años buscando quien cantaba este temazo ! ☺☺☺☺
Galactique Song 80 s forever
Thank you
Another Scottish gem🎙💙
Just noticed, is that Caron Wheeler as one of the backing singers
That's what i though, soul to soul wasn't it.
...yep!!...she was also a backup singer for Elvis Costello, and Culture Club for a short while!!...
I was wondering who that was - thank you for identifying her. What a beauty! :)
En Chile tiene seguidores fieles desde Los 80s
this takes me back
We met aus 1988, Alteglofsheim. Nice .
Bought the album when it came out...truly brilliant
Azteca Camera , me encanta sus temas
I LOVE 80s ❤
I like this song, nice easy listening!
It's a softie.
Sounds great.
Timeless track! I spotted Karen Wheeler as one of the backing singers …👀👌🏾👏🏾👏🏾🫶🏾
It must be soul destroying to write a song this good and have it not be a hit.
Chingón 👍👍👍👍👍
Roddy is such an underrated guitarist- I mean 2:43
Best music video of all time
Not that we’ll know in Australia but I loved this song! Pop 💎
