When I was a kid it took me way too long to realise that the punchline was that Sir Handel bragged about being fast, but then nearly got outraced by a steamroller
Oh my, I never knew that until now. It’s one of those lines where it should be pretty obvious what the line means, but it takes you years to work out. Now I feel stupid for not quite getting that as a kid.
I too like his voice impression of George, but I also like George Carlin's voice for him as well. He made him sound like a resentful New Yorker guy. Alec Baldwin I would give creds for his impression of George as a third. He really made him sound like real d!ckhead bigger than his own bone-crushing wheels.
“Shut up! My wheels are special- like Peter Sam’s funnel. Now I’ll go faster than any of you!” “You’ll never...!” The engines were surprised. Sir Handel’s trains were usually late.
This, Special Funnel, Thomas & the Trucks and Bulls Eyes are my favourite stories! John T Kenney also done the best illustrations like how he made that car with the reg number of his initials and year this book was released 1962
He did do some great drawings I like the drawings he did in Duck and Diesel, Percy takes the Plunge, Branch Line engines, The Twin Engines, Steam Roller, Special Funnel and The Fat Controller's engines.
In the TV series, Skarloey was the only one to remain red, Duncan and Rusty were orange, Rheneas only slightly orange. And Peter Sam was green and Sir Handel was blue. Duke remained Brown.
Given that we now understand that Sir Handel had empty ammunition vans, it's a bit of a shock as to why everyone was laughing. If those vans were loaded, Sir Handel would be dead. And Skarloey would have been indirectly responsible for that.
Also, I think that it would make more sense for Rusty to rat out Sir Handel, since he helped to sort the problem, and likely would have heard what happened.
i think it was the opposite Sir Handel is supposed to be that one engine that is made fun of but he's never threatened he was just laughed at Chris Skarloey Railway Books are just awful like WHERE IS THE MORAL BEINGING SCOUT SODA LEAVING THE GUARD BEHIND WHICH HAS BEEN DONE 3999009 TIMES AAAAAAAA this is my own opinion please don't criticise me
Steam Roller is based on an incident that happened at Muskerry, County Cork, Ireland in 1927, which may well make it the only Skarloey Railway story not be based on an incident on the Talyllyn Railway. As for Special Funnel, Edward Thomas (who is, of course, Peter Sam's basis) did wear a giesl funnel for a time (I'm not sure if the circumstances surrounding how it received said funnel were the same as Peter Sam's), but Edward Thomes is now back to using a normal funnel, whilst Peter Sam has kept his giesl since he received it. Hope this is helpful :) My source for this is the TTTE wiki.
I don’t know why the engines wanted to teach Sir Handel a lesson? Sure he may boast about his steam roller wheels, but still I think the engines are taking it a bit too far. I mean in the book, sir Handel helps get his train on time thanks to his new wheels. Like Peter Sam’s new funnel, how it was proven useful. Sure they look unusual but it has proven useful.
it would I think it would be good if George was shown with the pack steam roller buster in the tv series lending a hand this story shows the two popular types of steam engine drivers head wear flat cap and the greast top hats
@@bigmacsama yes they're both equally good. Ringo Starr was perfect at season 1 and George Carlin did good on a couple season 1 re-narration too, Ringo Starr and George Carlin were both perfect at season 2, and George Carlin was perfect at seasons 3 and 4. I also liked Michael Angelis for his Donald voice in Donald's duck and the singing he did of Pop goes old Ollie and his Bulstrode voice. Alec Baldwin did good on 10 episodes for season 5 and Michael Angelis did good on Arry and Bert for 5. Michael was good at seasons 6 and 7 and Alec Baldwin was good for the Salty episodes and the one of Elizabeth the Lorry but that was about it.
"Actually," said Sir Handel...

I just realized that thanks to your comment!
Oh my, I never knew that until now. It’s one of those lines where it should be pretty obvious what the line means, but it takes you years to work out. Now I feel stupid for not quite getting that as a kid.
It’s allways weird to me how he bragged he was fasted but ty next says his trains were usaly late, it was likely a typo
@@Lucat_Here it wasn't a typo, that was the book literally saying that he *wasn't* fast and that sir handel was basically a liar
I love Willie Rushton's impression for George. It suits him so perfectly that it makes this better than the TV episode!
It’s my favorite too😂👍
@Ben A.K.A The Wanted Raccoon Well, it’s too bad Willie passed away in 1996. He was such a great actor. 😔

@@radiantquack6482the book's better
I love Willie Rushton's George voice. Infact, if he were still alive and if I were head of HiT I'd hire him to voice George in the show.
Do that and make it happen. Also, make the series come back to its roots again.
Would you have switched to CGI if you had the option?
Same here it’s godly it’s somehow Better then Alec Baldwin
That's going to be kind of hard considering he died in 96 but if you're willing to do a seance
I thought George Carlin's voice for George was good too.
Rushton certainly made Sir Handel's whistling sound jazzy. 😉
This is one of my favorite Season 4 and Railway Series stories. Also George looks different in the books.
This is also my favorite season four episode
Yeah, in the books George’s face is entirely green.
My favorite Talyllyn engine!
Pity Buster didn't exist at the time. A nice steamroller is what this island needs.
Maybe there was one but we didn't know
“Shut up! My wheels are special- like Peter Sam’s funnel. Now I’ll go faster than any of you!”
“You’ll never...!”
The engines were surprised. Sir Handel’s trains were usually late.
LOL at Peter Sam and Skarloey @ 4:47! Those style of faces were used for the season 2 trucks
i rate it 10/10
-Sir Handel And George are the best conbination
3:05 The derp look on George's face remnds me of Derpy Hooves from My Little Pony: Freindship is magic & Eqauestria Girls.

1:22 George The Steam Roller Sounds Australian, Willie Rushton is a legend
Rodo Rolla Da
WRYYYYYYYY
3:46 I love that blue car with a face
It's the artist's car, based on his real one, and the license plate has his initials and the year of the book's publication on it.
I love this I use to watch it when I was seven years old
I like Willie's voice for George 😃
So do I.
1:22 Australian voice again
Love this story but IMO this is better than the TV series' version
I prefer the RWS versions of all the adapted stories tbh mate.
I don’t get it, there’s virtually no difference
In the TV series, Skarloey was the only one to remain red, Duncan and Rusty were orange, Rheneas only slightly orange. And Peter Sam was green and Sir Handel was blue. Duke remained Brown.
I thought Duncan was yellow in the TV show.
Duncan is actually yellow in the Railway series
Do you mean the Railway Series or TV series?
TV series
Rusty the Diesel Engine is Orange, not Duncan.
ROAD ROLLER DAAA!!!!!
As expected. If there is a video about road rollers, there should be a jojo reference comment
Who else thinks Rushton was the best RWS narrator?
Right here 🤚🏾
Given that we now understand that Sir Handel had empty ammunition vans, it's a bit of a shock as to why everyone was laughing. If those vans were loaded, Sir Handel would be dead. And Skarloey would have been indirectly responsible for that.
I doubt that they knew, since the MOD are very secretive, and since it was only referred to as a special load.
Also, I think that it would make more sense for Rusty to rat out Sir Handel, since he helped to sort the problem, and likely would have heard what happened.
The policeman:
*OI YOU!!!!!*
Reminds me of the Titfield Thunderbolt steamroller
I kinda now hate how dirty Awdry treated Sir Handel. At least his son wrote more positive stories for him.

I use to think what if he and Diesel and Bulstrode and Bulgy all met.
and what about diesel 261, diesel 10, and the horrid lorries
261? Sounds familiar...
He and George were initially going to meet in the Season 23 episode "Free the Roads" but the idea was sadly scrapped.
did anyone laugh at the faces the engines made at the end xD

Like the first story I'm confused to the basis to this one as there is no roadside section on the Talyllyn.

The obvious culprit is George.

Sir Handel’s Driver and George’s Driver got taken to jail without coming back again.
well, they could try Brian Blessed
He's the voice role of Clayton in Disney's Tarzan.
He'd make a great narrator.

Why does skarloey and Peter sam have laughing troublesome truck faces?
So I’m NOT the only one to notice that!

I love how Skarloey just made Sir Handel big-headed just to make an idiot out of himself , just so he can get a laugh.
