HAHAHA! Yeah, I was just watching some Keith Floyd clips on RUclips the other day. The recipes were good, but after I watch this clip, Shaun completely NAILED the Floyd impersonation (especially the trademark red wine. He always was either drinking it or adding it too most dishes)
As funny as I admit that skit was, could you imagine how much outrage there would be if that appeared on primetime tv today (especially after the whole Hey Hey It's Saturday incident in 2009)? Hate political correctness
Shaun Micallef would be drawn and quartered in public if he did it these days. What’s funny is that he’s an Aussie impersonating an African American who is impersonating a Jewish American who is playing a nerdy white American. Not to mention, my personal favourite lines - “It was a fucking toe-tapper…” and “Ya motherfuckin’ whiteass” 😂😂😂 It’s funny how politics have changed over the years. Full Frontal were pretty left wing, but they still did brown face.
Unfortunately, Micallef's intelligent style of humour (as good and "cutting edge" as it is) is not appreciated by most Australians. He was definitely well before his time. Remember, he used to be a lawyer before he went into comedy. He's appeared on shows on every FTA network (Ch7, Ch9, Ch10, ABC and SBS). Compared to either lame/wannabe comedians going around from here (e.g. Rove McManus), Micallef would have to be one the unluckiest comedians to have been booted from so many tv shows.
I'd agree with that, used to watch his stuff about 10 years ago in the UK, thought it was brilliant, a few of my teamamtes in the afl club didn't think much of him, then again they were a bit thick.....
And yes, even in Australia where things such as ethnic/racial stereotypes have been given a bit more leeway on tv compared to the U.S. and U.K., you still wouldn't see something like blackface on tv.

Micallef is hands down my favourite comedian. His style is sublime.
