    Fire in the hole is always my favorite during the winter, it's WARM in there!

      I rode fire in the hole when I was 7, and it scared me. I have never ridden it since. Even after riding every other ride at the park.

    Grandfather's mansion! I've loved it ever since I was little. Just a little old fashioned fun.

      that one was a tough call to leave out, as it's close. If you've got kids I would add it to the list.

      it's worth riding, but it's not what I would consider one of the top reasons to visit the park. :-)

      SirWillow I respectfully disagree; it's my favorite ride at the park (yes even more than Outlaw Run). I can ride an RMC any time I want; the best mine train on the planet isn't that easy to find.

    • @jonshawver246
      @jonshawver246 6 лет назад +2

      Thunderation is great because it is unlike most other arrow mine trains. It is so unique because it kinda bridges the gap between a kiddy coaster/family mine train and something like Powder Keg.

    I went to SDC today. My first Roller Coaster in my life is Outlaw Run. It was pouring down rain and I didn't wear my glasses because they could fall off. I screamed the whole time! I also went in to the cave! They have REALLY good Hot Cocoa. I also rode the Flooded Mines 10 times!

  • @RR_RailfanAdventure43
    @RR_RailfanAdventure43 4 года назад

    My favorite thing there is riding the train! It is fantastic year-round, especially Christmas when they light it up and the sing-along! Not only they do the robbery, but they stop and grandpa actually tells the story about the true meaning of Christmas!

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  4 года назад +1

      They don't do the robbery at Christmas. Grandpa takes over during that time. it's one or the other. :-) But yes, absolutely love the train during Christmas time.

    I gotta do Grandfather's Mansion. I laugh all the way through it. I like the church and the swinging bridge too. The funniest thing on Fire in the hole was my sister and a neighbor were riding noticing the secure loose articles sign. They rode the entire time with their index finger on the bridge of their noses to secure their eyeglasses. It's a memory I still chuckle about.

      I'm in my 60s now but remember as a child, it was near closing time and my sisters and I got off the Fire in the Hole and immediately ran around to ride it again. On our 4th or 5th ride in 20 min we were at the top of one of the drops and we heard someone yell "Fire in the Hole" and had a bucket of water dumped on our heads. We were delighted!!!

    The best thing Silver Dollar City has going for it has to be the location. It's purely Ozarks. Beautiful scenes throughout the park as well as underground in the cave. Love the view from the church! God has blessed the place with his beauty.

I’m so glad you mentioned everything you did, though you are the only person who did a review mentioning the cloggers... I am incredibly thankful because we don’t ever get recognized. I should know, i am one of those cloggers. I hope you come see my dance team there next year in June!!

    I love videos like these, and this is a great one. I made it to Dollywood this season, and I hope to make it to SDC either next season or the one after that. Hopefully, I'll remember to rewatch this video just before. I spent two days at Dollywood instead of one, and I was very happy I did. Sounds like SDC might be worth two days as well.

    Totally agree with all of these! The homestead pickers are great, I got to play fiddle with them once and they were so nice! My must-dos that you touched on but didn't feature are the regular craftsmen that are always there, especially the ones at the leather and glassblowing shops :)

  • @albany222
    @albany222 6 лет назад

    Great list! I was reading comments so don't know if you touched on the glass blowers, truly a staple of the park as well. Since I was a kid that's always been a favorite of mine. Yup for the thrill ride seekers it is the Outlaw Run it's so fast when you get off you'll be smilin no matter what emotion is going through your body. The new Time Traveler is cool as well but you better have a lot of time on your hands as the line can be any where from 90 to 150 minutes on a busy day. One more thing BARN SWING ! don't miss it. Whatever you do go it's awesome!!

    Here's a fun story from when I was at SDC:
    I was about 12, and me and a friend were there sometime in June; it was pretty hot and busy and we were in line for Lost River of the Ozarks. We end up getting into a raft with two other people we'd never seen, a guy and a girl. We finish the ride, we had a blast (duh) and we were waiting to be unloaded. I see the guy move out of the corner of my eye and I see that he's holding something-- it was a wedding ring. I gasp immediately and start freaking out (my friend says I was more excited than the girl) because I'd never seen a proposal. My friend was confused then finally found out what was happening and lost it too. They ended up getting married- we went to their wedding.

    The Bolin brothers were notorious bushwhackers (among others) and contributed to the lawlessness in the Ozarks that led to the formation of the Baldknobbers.

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  4 года назад +1

      Sort of. There was only Alphie Bolin. Ralphie never existed in real life. Murder Rock is actually where Alphie Bolin hung out and committed some of his mis deeds. He was so popular that when he was finally hunted down and killed the town of Forsyth had a parade with his head in celebration. There's a great write up of his life store at thelibrary.org/lochist/periodicals/bittersweet/sp83b.htm
      It took place at around the same time Nat Kinney was leading his Baldknobbers in Taney county, but they actually weren't tied together at all. I don't believe that they crossed paths.

    • @InsaneW_Ghrankenstein
      @InsaneW_Ghrankenstein 4 года назад

      The followup is appreciated. I didn't have any specifics about the actual Bolin family. They were cited as an example of the lawlessness of the region in the Hartman/Inglethron Baldknobbers history. And, like Fire in the Hole, the Silver Dollar Line Bolin Brothers (and Ma Bolin, RIP) skit has a (tiny) foothold in the area's actual history.

      it's a good guess, but not exactly true. :-) Fire in the Hole was first, opening over 40 years ago in 1972. Then Thunderation in 1993, Buzz Saw Falls in 1999 (which transformed into Powder Keg in 2003), Wildfire in 2001, Outlaw Run in 2013 and Time Traveler this year. So Wildfire was technically the 4th coaster in the park, third if you don't count Buzzsaw Falls. :-)

      turn left when you get off the train and you'll walk right into it (or right as you're getting on the train)

    I do agree that Fire and the whole is a good one but it's just not for me bc I like the kiddy rides even tho im 12 😂😂😂. So I love it when my 4y/o cuz goes so that I can ride them and I do agree with the flooded mine too even tho I was balling last time 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. My cuz liked it lol 😂😂😂😂 the train is also a good one only rode it 2 time out of the many times I've been to SDC 😂😂😂😂😂😂. And I do agree with the Saloon but that's it for number 4. I don't like the homestead pickers either... These are just recommendations!!!! The food yes! 😂😂😂 Not outlaw run for me 😂😂😂😂 wildfire powder keg also not for me!!! And yes the festivals!!!! 😂😂😂😂 As you can tell I'm not a big roller coaster person 😂😂 but I love going to SDC and the whole reason my family started going was because I got really into the Beverly Hillbillies lol and the if your going to ride the train my favorite time of year to ride it is Christmas!! And a must do is the candle making shop!!

      No, the video predates Time Traveler by a couple of years. But I'd say it's still a pretty accurate list.

    Did there used to be a place where it looked like you were walking through root beer? I have a vague memory of something like this.

      you might be thinking of the Wildfire station where they have several bubbling vats as you wind around in it.

      SirWillow I feel like it was a tree and there were chasing lights that looked like the bubbles rising to the surface. It wasn’t real root beer. It was a room with brown light and they pumped in the scent of root beer.

      interesting. Would it be possible you're combining a couple of different memories, as that doesn't ring a bell offhand. But at Christmas they have a few trees with lights like that. And of course several places that could possibly be where the smell is from. otherwise I couldn't guess as it doesn't sound familiar.
      But then I've only been here since 2011, so if it was from before that then it's quite possible I wouldn't be familiar with it.
