One week ago i played a game of golf at troon north in scottsdale Arizona and was shocking, couldn’t hit a ball off the fairway losing at least 6 balls. After watching your videos on how to strike the ball and different shots etc i played the same course 4 over. playing holes 5-13 at 1 under. Thank you!
and golfers, don't ever forget the words from a golf legend ,,, " you can talk to a fade but a hook don't listen " ,,, so very true and thank you mr. Trevino for those encouraging words and thank you Piers and Andy for the excellent advice !!
Kudos for the Video! Sorry for the intrusion, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you tried - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (do a google search)? It is a good exclusive guide for revealing an effortless golf swing technique without the headache. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my work buddy finally got astronomical results with it.
I've always fought a slice. Teachers always preached that the ball is going to go where the face is pointed so I always thought I had an open face. So far from the truth. My ball always started straight and sliced. Finally read a Tiger article where he explained the path to face ratio. Now I just slightly close the face. Perfect power fade.
I play a fade with a strong grip. It's a much more consistent technique because it requires less timing. It also requires very little practice once it's ingrained.
Edward Spencer shut the fuck up 😂 you sound dumb, most pros will tell you they shape away from danger every tee shot and they shape their approach’s away from green elevation changes an bunkers so what are you saying ?
Good video! I have a have a tough time hitting a fade,(a draw is my normal shot). When I open the face and line my body left just a little bit with a iron I only just hit the ball higher, how do I fade it.
This is my exact problem. Not a huge slice just hitting fade often and I understand his confidence level which is probably hesitant on hitting with power. Thanks for the tips Ill likely try this on Thursday
Nicklaus and Miller had the weakest grips going. Both advocated NO moving of the hands from a vertical alignment, so in fact they were two knuckles weak of the modern standard '2 knuckle' default coached grip! Good examples of players with strong grips who play the fade are Fred Couples, John Daly, David Duval, Bubba Watson and Dustin Johnson - quite a few majors between those guys..
Started playing November and most shots where all over the place no consistency most would fly off left after about 100 yards got my self a hack mostion and every shot was way over extended on hit went yesterday changed my turn and now every shot is a fade but all going direction I’m aiming now just need to now work out how to get a draw back into the shot or just straight
you guys are doing a lot of good work for the golf community. I remember lessons from jack.. golf, my way. now there are tons of lessons, we all should be breaking 90. ; ). I have a big weight and body shift when posting on my left foot. I tried moving the ball well in front of my left foot. probably 6-8 inches, this allows me to really go after the ball and not feel jamed at impact. is that unusual? or completely wrong? Thank you from canada
How can we be sure not to overcorrect as I used to have a habit of being steep I am now very shallow. I feel like if I wanted to play a fade and do this drill (which I won't) I would be 10 degrees left.
Hey guys, really love your videos. I am a total beginner, and I really feel they help me a lot. (Just had my first round above 18 points, and are now at 50 hcp(!) :) I have made a camera setup that I always bring to the range, and I video several shots evert time and try to use your guidance in analyzing my own shots. So far I use the line from the club, under the elbow, to try to get a more consistent (and correct) movement on the swing, and I feel that it helps. It would be great if you could make a video where you explain more "pointers" for beginners, with lines and drawings on a video. Like a short list of typical beginner errors to look for. (as long as I have the camera pointed through my hands). If that was understandable. Like: "You want the swing to move along this line", "You want the club head to be in this angle at this position", etc. Again, thanks a lot for your videos! You're great!
Ive had 3 months of lessons hes a really good coach my only criticism is getting me to play a draw. You need to be very very very good to control a draw. (Unless got a severe slice) controlling a fade is so much easier. If your an old golfer i ubderstand hitting a draw for the distance but if your in your mid 30s like me I preach hitting a fade I'll lose 20 meters but its worth it to be on the fairway
Aren't you supposed to fade the ball with a swing path from the inside, like you would when you're hitting a draw? The only change for a fade should be with an open clubface to path? What I can see from your fade at appr. 7.30 is a swing path from the outside comming into the ball. Please explain why I want to fade the ball this way? For me it seems I would be loosing a lot of distance.. Best Regards!
On the fade down swing I have an awful tendency to let my right shoulder creep into the swing path that results (over-the-top) in one of those awful bananas. I do not have a strong grip when I opt for the fade shot, but a neutral grip. For the fade my footing is an open position - the left foot aligned slightly back from the back foot. It has been drilled in my head to hit a draw that one needs to swing from the inside to out and this fade shot encourages the opposite. I see in your down swing - prior to impact - that the right elbow remains close to your rib cage as you swing from outside to inside. Is that the ticket to keep from coming over- the - top?
The easiest thing to do is leave your club face neutral, or slightly open, and have a positive attack angle by taking a little power off your swing, and swinging in to out. Super easy draws
You can still play a fade with a shallowed down swing. He looks steep enough on his down swing already. I feel like this will make him even more steep with no shallowing in the transition.
Are you aiming the clubface left as well or just the feet? And are you creating the open clubface by adjusting your grip or just facing up the club more to the right?
What's a bounce angle? I've been playing for less than a year (summers only) so I have a new set with PW and AW (approach wedge). It's amazing how many people that have been playing for years don't know what a bounce angle is. So my question is... What's a bounce angle? How does it help in what situations (rough)? And can you talk about the difference between the PW and AW (Approach Wedge) that's found in recent golf sets? They seem to have the same attack angle, but different bounce angles. People look at me weird when I tell them they're basically the same attack angle.
AlienRenders disregard the name of the club, pw, aw, gw, etc. The reason we see more wedges is because club lofts have been decreasing to make golfers think they can suddenly hit a 7 iron 20 yards further with this 'new' club. However, that 7 iron is now 30 degrees of loft, instead of a traditional 35. That means the PW is 43 or 44 degrees when it used to be 48. So you need an approach wedge (or gap wedge) to fill in the hole between your PW and your SW. So, you're confusing loft with attack angle. Those are two different things. Attack angle is simply whether you hit down (negative angle) or up on the ball (positive). Typically you want to strike down on everything but driver. As for bounce - grab your SW and turn it upside down but perfectly vertical. Notice that the leading edge is actually lower than the sole of the club. The more bounce a club has, the higher that sole will be. It's measured in degrees - 8, 12, etc. What bounce does it help to 'undig' a club from a heavy lie, like sand or even rough. Try to imagine how that angle from the leading edge to the sole could force the club back up when it strikes the ground, like a plow. Your PW, and other irons have much less, if any bounce. Why? Because off of a tight lie, like a fairway, bounce sucks. It's the bottom of the club. If it hits the ground first, what happens? The club 'bounces' and you skull your 60 yard pitch 130 yards to the next tee box. This is also why wedges have different grinds that allow you to manipulate the way you lay the club down to use less or more bounce as the situation requires.
DJ, Rahmbo, Champ, Morikawa they all have strong grips and hit fades.

How will this help prevent a slice? They both start out the same way, only the slice is even more out-to-in on the swing path, or am I missing something?
Tor Håkon Haugen it’s not supposed to prevent a slice. If you can hit a slice constantly in a grouping close to each other why would you want to change that? Just adjust your game to your flight. Most of the times a slice is more of a 90 degree turn at the end and makes you loose distance. This power fade it more or a straight left to right than a slice which it right to right.
6 лет назад+1
Okay. So it's more about controlling the fade rather then trying to fight it. Makes sense. Thanks.
A slice is an in to out path with a way open face. This will start right and going even further right. A fade will have out to in path with closed club face
please i went from 23 to 20 daily handicapin Aus :) ga 20.4 to 17.9 i want to get to single fig hcp. playing 710 ap2s px5.5s. ive never been fitted but hit driver + 3 woods tm jetspeeds. stiff. love your vids and thanks for reading. MrAv
Went to play today... tripped over a tee box marker (one of the old wooden kind) and had one of the spikes go into the bottom of my foot... messed up my day and after a 235 yrd strait as an arrow drive... a new distance record for me...
Playing a fade and draw is over complicated so often. First work on having a consistent swing path and club face at impact. From there to play a fade you do it the same as you would hitting a wedge higher. Open you stance a bit then open the club face less, and swing along your normal path.
Geronimo McDuggins for me that way of manipulating your swing by "swinging in to out" or " swinging across" isn't consistent. Unless you come over the top you definitely need to fix that before you worry about shaping shots. Aiming your stance right, keeping grip strength the same and just having the club face closed is very repeatable.
A Davis club face accounts for 85% of ball direction according to launch monitors. It’s imperative to learn how to manipulate the face. If you can’t, there’s no point in fixing the path.
David Doughty I think it has more to do with the way the face of the club was positioned instead of the toe. It was very open, and that'll produce the fade.
Most depends on your club path. Just make sure you hit it more or less in middle. For fade it should be a little more heel centered. But just slightly. Else you will lose too much ball speed
I've played with guys who slice the ball and because they know how to play their slice they play around 80 for 18. It doesn't matter so long as you know how to play golf. These guys knew how to play golf.

Bravo, gentlemen! I'm transitioning from a draw and this is exactly the lesson I wanted to find!
Dustin Johnson is probably the most famous for it
Thanks for all the videos!! Just shot under 50 for the first time on 9 holes. Practicing all of these really help

I play a fade with a strong grip.
It's a much more consistent technique because it requires less timing. It also requires very little practice once it's ingrained.
Nonsense.
This is just outrageous, a golf course requires all shots most of time so why would I try and hit a particular shape when the hole doesn’t require it?
Cam 123 you have a lot to learn. You should be hitting your stock default shot 95% of the time.
Edward Spencer shut the fuck up 😂 you sound dumb, most pros will tell you they shape away from danger every tee shot and they shape their approach’s away from green elevation changes an bunkers so what are you saying ?
@@Cam12369 True, but theres usually trouble both ways for the pros. The smart ones favor one driver shot shape almost every time.

Anyone not sold on hitting a fade just has to look at Dustin Johnson’s world ranking!!!
Look at Rory's distance though. He has the longest average carry with a draw
Jonah Gehrke you joking? Dustin’s one of if not the longest on tour
Dustin Johnson is the best example

Core52 Rivas you beat me to Paul Azinger. His grip was suuuuuper strong. I’d break my wrist if I swung like that.
My swing's quite similar to Jacob's, so this video has given me something to think about next time I'm at the range.

Just creating a path that is left. Aiming left is ok with both the body and feet.
Me! I have a very strong grip and fade all the time, I can even slice it big wen I hit it hard.
Strong grip + fade = Fred Couples, but what Fred does is use a very strong grip and an open stance, cups his wrist at the top and hits a block fade.

Dingbat! Lol!
Great video guys, nothing wrong with a fade!
One question...Why do you want to hit a power fade (slice) instead of the “normal” fade from the tee. Les distance then swinging from in to out.
A Power fade really is a slight fade to ensure that you don't lose too much yardage.
Brooks Koepka
DJ, Rahmbo, Champ, Morikawa they all have strong grips and hit fades.

Stance is neutral? Or open? Can't tell. Thanks.
I don't see the sign up on your page.
Not sure about strong grip, but Mr. Bubba Watson was longest on tour with the ol butter cut.
Great Video!!!
How do you prevent the dreaded pull left with a strong grip like that when you come across like that?
Your club isn’t lagging coming down and you flip your wrist when that happens.
Closed face faders, Duval, Trevino, and DJ
And Azinger
Closed face faders dont exist. To play a good fade, your face need to be closed relative to path. Any other option don’t exist.
DJ BAYBEEE
Maybe should he switch to a magic twist face ?
DJ!
How do you hit the fade LOW though? You had a full follow through like a normal swing. I see Dustin Johnson hit his fade quite low.

Why does a toe strike with a driver promote a fade when it should be favouring less of a fade and more of a draw???
David Doughty I think it has more to do with the way the face of the club was positioned instead of the toe. It was very open, and that'll produce the fade.
It actually promotes more of a draw when you strike it out the toe due to gear effect.
Most depends on your club path. Just make sure you hit it more or less in middle. For fade it should be a little more heel centered. But just slightly. Else you will lose too much ball speed
