It was such a surprisingly fun read! How many Percy Jackson books have you read so far? I haven't read past the first one yet but I definitely want to continue the series.
Good to know about the Ruth Ware one! I thought that one would read like a thriller, good to know it wasn’t quite that way 😝 That grammar one looks interesting! And I’m curious about the self care one too! I’m having a low key reading month in July too, lol, I’m just doing 4 books, that seems to be my sweet spot! Happy reading!! I’ll check out Rekindled Reading too 😊
It was a disappointing read for me, but after watching other review videos, apparently I'm in the minority on that! I'm planning to read the self-care book today so hopefully I should definitely finish it in July. 4 books is an amazing sweet spot. I hope you have a lovely July and have some wonderful reads!
Five books is still super solid IMO! Especially for summer time, you gotta spend the time with the kiddies before they grow up! 🥰I'm sure you'll have tons of time to read when they're back to school! LOL you re-reading the recap to make sure you're not giving spoilers is so me. 😂 I got recommendations of Six Crimson Cranes from other RUclipsr. So glad to hear that you like it! I might push it up forward to read sooner than later I guess 👀I love that your kid also read Percy Jackson! I'm curious to see what your thought about it versus your kid's! I'll be stepping over and taking a looking at Jame's channel now 👀 PS. I LOVE those coffee earrings. So obsessed 😍
I am super happy with my 5 books! Definitely a good number for me. Ooh that's so fun you have heard about Six Crimson Cranes recently. I hadn't heard about it until recently! I hope you enjoy it! My son really enjoyed it and we were talking about the book vs the show that came out this year. It was fun! Thanks!! I literally just got those earrings the day before I filmed and they make me so happy! :D
I love the Percy Jackson books. I found, teaching high school, that the kids who really knew mythology knew it because of having read Percy Jackson. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on James. THE best book I’ve read in a long time.
I honestly knew so little about mythology! Reading Percy Jackson has made me want to know more though. I'm a third of the way through James and I hope to finish this week!
It was seriously such a fun read! I haven't started the second one yet but I definitely want to continue the series. I hope you enjoy it when you get to it!
I really need to check out the Percy Jackson series! I never read it growing up and have heard nothing but great things, glad you had a fun time 😊 I’m feeling a low key/mood reading month in July too, haha I guess it’s the summer vibe… Looking forward to hearing what you think about James and The Midnight Feast!
I own the Percy Jackson books and I wanted to read them before the new show came out but I ended up watching it first... oops lol! I am MOST excited about all of my Summerween books for July!!
Haha I'm glad it wasn't just me!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I know different families have different thoughts on books, but for what it's worth, my son started reading them when he was 9 I think and he enjoyed them! He probably would have enjoyed it earlier as a read aloud, but we waited until he was interested in reading them on his own.
Oh no, the Glamour of Grammar got ditched again?! 😂 How could this happen? I’m really getting curious now about what you will think of it! I’ve never read Percy Jackson either! Not sure I will, but I’m glad you and your son enjoyed it. I remember talking with my dad about Harry Potter and it’s such a fond memory, so that’s such a sweet thing for you to have together. Ahh I want to read James too! Ask for a new one though, that smear should not be there on a brand new book! They might not even want that back, just ask! Or just the jacket? Haha I might just be a person, yes indeed
Yess! My poor grammar book! haha! I'm going camping next week and I think I'll take it to just read a little section a day or something. I wouldn't say Percy Jackson is a must read, but it was surprisingly fun! I don't often read middle grade, but I was genuinely enjoying it. I love that you read Harry Potter with your Dad. Those are such fun memories to have bookish moments with parents. I didn't look into returning it at first because I wanted to make sure I had the copy for July. And I thought I wouldn't mind too much. But......it's actually really bugging me. 😂 I think if I bought it used and knew it was pre-loved I wouldn't mind but it was a bummer to spend more money on a new one and have something on it. So I did end up clicking through for returns and they'll ship me a replacement. I do need to return this copy, but hopefully if I get it in the mail today the replacement should be here soon and I can still get it all read in July!
Ugh that's so disappointing about the Ruth Ware one, have you read any others of hers? I've been keen to try her out! and I think it is so great that you make the time to read books your eldest has read and loves, such a great bonding opportunity and a way to show that you care about their interests and value their book recs 💕💫
I spent a bit of time yesterday watching other BookTube reviews on One Perfect Couple and apparently I am quite in the minority! 😂 I guess most people really liked it, at least from the reviews I saw. I've read a couple others by her. I enjoyed The Woman in Cabin 10 and The It Girl. And Zero Days was pretty good too. Thank you for your kind words! I really want to encourage his interests and I love being able to share good book recs with him and vice versa!
I've only read one Ruth Ware book (In a Dark, Dark Wood) and the fact that I thought it was just okay topped with so many people having mediocre or negative reviews for her other books, I think I will just avoid reading any others by her 😅 I am curious to hear what you think of The Midnight Feast though. The only Lucy Foley book I've read is The Hunting Party, which I thought was good but also could have done more with the ending. I read Percy Jackson several years ago, though still as an adult. While the books were very enjoyable while I read them, I've found they weren't really memorable individually. I think all of the quests kind of melded together in my head.
Her books do seem to be rather hit or miss for a lot of people. I enjoyed The Woman in Cabin 10. I think that was one of the first thrillers I read. I don't know that I will be quick to read more of her books, though. I'll be updating on Lucy Foley hopefully in August. Hopefully it will be a good one! I'm #2 in line at the library. I haven't read The Hunting Party, but that's disappointing about the ending. Haha there were definitely a lot of individual adventures and quests even just in the first Percy Jackson, so I'm curious what I'll think as I keep reading.
I loves Six Crimson Cranes but Dragons Promise was a bit hard to get through so just a warning haha I did like the ending though! Still have to read Her Radiant Curse.
Ooh good to know about Dragons Promise! I hadn't heard about Her Radiant Curse. Goodreads has it listed as 0.5 in the series....is it like an interlude between book 1 and 2?
Awwww sounds like you’ve had a lovely month in June!! I keep hearing about the Percy Jackson series!!
June was a great month! Percy Jackson is definitely fun if you want a quick and easy yet enjoyable read.
A small zombie problem sounds like one my son would really like. We enjoyed Percy Jackson together too and will for sure be continuing the series!
It was such a surprisingly fun read!

The Six Crimson Cranes' cover is *so* pretty - I've been eyeing it just for that for months ^^' But this makes me want to read it more :)

I still need to read Percy Jackson! I can't believe I still haven't dived into these books.
The first one was definitely so fun! I'm not sure when I'll get to the second one, but I do want to continue the series.
I’m late to the Percy Jackson party, too. ⚡️ This is one I’ll hopefully read with my 7-year-old soon (assuming it’s appropriate for her…)
