My friend went to a PF concert with his mom. They had a great night. Next day, she gets into an accident and dies. This song was played at her funeral. It's been over 30 years and still it gives me chills every time
I "enjoy" guitar players like Mark Knopfler, and am "impressed" by players like Steve Vai or Joe Satriani. Guitar shredders like Eddie Van Halen or Randy Rhodes are "killer" But the playing of David Gilmour, whether electric or acoustic, is the only guitar that takes my brain and my very soul to a whole other realm. I genuinely feel sorry for those who have never taken the time to listen to his artistry.
Agreed. The solo on Time-Live at Royal Albert Hall is sublime. And Echoes from the same show is extraordinay.I know other concerts get more attention but this show was fantastic.I came close to playing it everday for a few months.

This song has so much meaning to me. Besides the fact that I’ve seen them play this live & it was incredible, it was the band my dad (who was a musician) & I connected with together the most. He passed away suddenly last July & the last picture I have of us together he is wearing a Pink Floyd shirt. The day of his funeral, I was driving & this song came on & I knew it was him telling me he was still with us & everything was alright. This song was one of our faves & whenever I hear it now it’s like he is reminding me he is here each & every time. Such a beautiful song. 🙏🏼❤️
The best part of Unplugged is getting to hear the bones of the song, so to speak--the structure of it without the layers of studio tracks. It's not perfect, it's not smoothed-off edges and all that. It's the song and the singer, and the musicians all there creating it live. And this one is perfect for that. Sad, sweet, full of beauty and poetry. Love it.
When I hear Floyd, I often remember my Dad. He was deaf in one ear, which made him picky about music he would listen to, then there was Floyd. He owned every album that the band released. I think that what made the difference for him was that Floyd was a full sensory experience,. You don’t just listen to Pink Floyd, you immerse yourself in them. Wish you were here, Dad.
