This song is amazing. There are little things you can tell she did in order to make her voice sound the way it does. Full of emotion whether it's happy or sad. For example when she sings the line, "leave to the other girls to play" you could tell she's smiling as she says that line.
I always thought of Portishead as James bond themes on acid, whatever it was it was some of the finest music from the most musically polished decade that's ever existed. Hauntingly beautiful
The 90s was the last true good era for music. Everything since the digital age has just not matched. Music of that time was timeless. Music of this generation will be forgotten in 10 years.

Been listening to Dummy as an album to fall asleep to. I have a sleep disorder. But this, yes. Been listening to it for over two decades. Absolutely love 🖤🖤
I heard this song two decades ago in the movie “Stealing Beauty,” and it became my favorite since then. If you young people see this, I definitely suggest you this movie and it’s sound track, for they are totally awesome!
I’ve heard of Portishead but never really listened to their music. I just heard this track on someone’s stories on Instagram and WOW! I’m gonna be here a while 👌
My girlfriend searched this song early Friday morning, two days ago. A few hours later she was not here and overdosed. Doesn't seem like she's coming back now. I'll never forget you Ashley, noone will ever compare to you. Take a breather, you're a fine woman and made me feel more love than ever before. I'm so glad I got to spend his time with you. I apologize for the [I can only imagine unwanted] drama. I often regret these reminders of the worst event I have endured that I for all purposes scattered across the internet, awaiting a reply, like, or the opposite. It feels like she's with me everyday. As though a large part of her essence now resides in me, benefiting me with her cause and conviction. The unexpected surplus of energy thankfully mostly beneficial, her fighting spirit flowing with my own, but at times the cause of trouble which alongside I gratuitously accept. God damn I miss being home, her juicy booty which she would promptly get as close to my face or in my attention whenever she was looking for some funtime, the Sherman Shuffle named by me which she strongly disliked which honestly only added to the charm of her longtime endearing and comical act, the almost r2d2 like trill that would come from her as shed get assaulted by cool air upon exiting the shower, her insistence to apply spices to a meal from a foot above "allowing the spices room to breathe", the way she'd poke her head up and peer around the corner after waking up from sleeping in- inviting me back to bed for another hour of cuddles after I'd been up for hours, her almost country western style innocence which was a stark contrast to... , her rockin bod and sexy style ready to go anywhere anytime as many times as seen fit and happily slurp up anything that her lips landed on, the way she cared for everyone specifically the very young and old, those amazing sandwiches she'd insistingly and lovingly made me for work even if she'd have to wake up early to make em, our late nights listening to music with drinks by the fireplace long after closing time, visiting her parents and seeing how much joy assisting them with any chores or errands would bring her, hearing all about her day at work (except that one day...) ~~~she had a resident attempt suicide by cutting his arms, which she distrauhgtly recounted to me in extreme detail after the shift. She was noticibley disturbed by the harrowing event, and I felt powerless as all my empathy couldn't help heal the seemingly large chasm in her heart left after being part of such a messy display of mortality. She in all admittance, appearances, and attitude (a fact that is hard to look back at but oh so obvious as it is hard to accept) took her own life about five weeks later. She listened to this song, the world at large by modest mouse and uptown folks by dope lemon before departing with few hours remaining that fateful night. I have only one regret in life and that was not realizing the weight that despite her stubborn pride was too much for her to bear. She seemed edgy and abbrasive the weeks between, more independent and isolated than usual. After assessing and asking what caused this shift in behaviour, specifically mentioning the event at work and the possibility of work-associated-counselling which she stated was a non-factor, I assumed she was mad at me for something which I happily ignored with pride and egotism. I choked through the first year with help from a friend who I quickly grew close to, falling in love out of necessity or so it seemed. A kind and beautiful woman whose care and compassion were comfortingly in line with Ashley's. Unfortunately with 10 days remaining before the one year anniversary of losing the love of my life my surrogate for strength and substitute sin, Jennifer, left me to figure the rest out without her shoulder to lean into which I was wholly aware was an unhealthy -albeit extremely effective- coping mechanism. What a ride. How funny this thing called life can twist such beauty into such devastation, unapologetic in its upheaval of the comforts we come to expect. How quiet and alone the soul truly is when torn apart repeatedly and so rapidly, feeling forced to move along and begrudgingly doing so, unwilling now to sincerely express itself instead encased in armor such as to deflect any "attempted attacks" I am to face going forward in time (aware of myself in practice currently moving slowly in reverse).
I miss the 90s so much!! The decade when I was aged 15 to 25. Great music and before all the troubles of the world. One guy even called it, "the end of history". Unfortunately, it didn't take long for history to begin again.
Some 80s band were awesome too. Butthole Surfers, my all-time favourite "everything's possible" band. Booze, pot, LSD, shrooms.. you name it, they did it AND produced the accompanying music. ruclips.net/video/vasVs61VKMY/видео.html ruclips.net/video/pBpftvU4yFo/видео.html ruclips.net/video/3W5UjGHA1Us/видео.html Just a few examples.

Gonna give my heart away

Through this new frame of mind
A thousand flowers could bloom
Move over and give us some room, yeah
Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be a woman
I just want to be a woman
So don't you stop being a man
Just take a little look
From our side when you can
Sow a little tenderness
No matter if you cry
Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be a woman
I just want to be a woman
It's all I wanna be, is all a woman
For this is the beginning
Of forever and ever

Absolutely bloody BRILLIANT. When I hear this song it haunts me the rest of the day.....👿
22 years later, still amazing!
Thks , i'm 15 ans i'm young . Thks for this piece of advice
What a great song, I love it! I put it into my "Shellshocked Radio - Recommendations" List: ruclips.net/video/I4IGV5s8E84/видео.html Very well done!

I’ve heard of Portishead but never really listened to their music. I just heard this track on someone’s stories on Instagram and WOW! I’m gonna be here a while 👌
I actually have always had this on my playlist with the song title “Give Me A Reason”.... mind blown 🤯
Super cool atmosphere. Just life music.
To this day I still see them as the greatest miracle in music… the odds!!!
preceded by the Eurythmics
Portishead - это лучшее, что я слышал в своей жизни.

Sorry about anytime you got upset or confused I know those feelings suck they don't work well on you😅 Hopefully I see you soon. Love ya chipmunk 😍😚🤗
Xoxo your cuddlebug Denni
Oh my I am so sorry to read this are you doing okay?
@@Blame_Uranus_Astrological_Club still right where I started, maybe worse. Creating the absolute worst case of codependency with an absolute selfharm threat, mood shattering, toxic, immature, broken woman you can imagine being 25 yo grew up in/around house gf died in. Yupp. Went from occasional coke, off prescription drug use to iv hatever I can get my hands on, renting our room and mattress to someone who I strngly believe to be a murderer for a little dope every week. Dove right in headstrong dickfirst. Wish me luck!
I'm so sorry.
God damn I miss being home, her juicy booty which she would promptly get as close to my face or in my attention whenever she was looking for some funtime, the Sherman Shuffle named by me which she strongly disliked which honestly only added to the charm of her longtime endearing and comical act, the almost r2d2 like trill that would come from her as shed get assaulted by cool air upon exiting the shower, her insistence to apply spices to a meal from a foot above "allowing the spices room to breathe", the way she'd poke her head up and peer around the corner after waking up from sleeping in- inviting me back to bed for another hour of cuddles after I'd been up for hours, her almost country western style innocence which was a stark contrast to... , her rockin bod and sexy style ready to go anywhere anytime as many times as seen fit and happily slurp up anything that her lips landed on, the way she cared for everyone specifically the very young and old, those amazing sandwiches she'd insistingly and lovingly made me for work even if she'd have to wake up early to make em, our late nights listening to music with drinks by the fireplace long after closing time, visiting her parents and seeing how much joy assisting them with any chores or errands would bring her, hearing all about her day at work (except that one day...)
~~~she had a resident attempt suicide by cutting his arms, which she distrauhgtly recounted to me in extreme detail after the shift. She was noticibley disturbed by the harrowing event, and I felt powerless as all my empathy couldn't help heal the seemingly large chasm in her heart left after being part of such a messy display of mortality. She in all admittance, appearances, and attitude (a fact that is hard to look back at but oh so obvious as it is hard to accept) took her own life about five weeks later. She listened to this song, the world at large by modest mouse and uptown folks by dope lemon before departing with few hours remaining that fateful night. I have only one regret in life and that was not realizing the weight that despite her stubborn pride was too much for her to bear. She seemed edgy and abbrasive the weeks between, more independent and isolated than usual. After assessing and asking what caused this shift in behaviour, specifically mentioning the event at work and the possibility of work-associated-counselling which she stated was a non-factor, I assumed she was mad at me for something which I happily ignored with pride and egotism.
I choked through the first year with help from a friend who I quickly grew close to, falling in love out of necessity or so it seemed. A kind and beautiful woman whose care and compassion were comfortingly in line with Ashley's. Unfortunately with 10 days remaining before the one year anniversary of losing the love of my life my surrogate for strength and substitute sin, Jennifer, left me to figure the rest out without her shoulder to lean into which I was wholly aware was an unhealthy -albeit extremely effective- coping mechanism. What a ride. How funny this thing called life can twist such beauty into such devastation, unapologetic in its upheaval of the comforts we come to expect. How quiet and alone the soul truly is when torn apart repeatedly and so rapidly, feeling forced to move along and begrudgingly doing so, unwilling now to sincerely express itself instead encased in armor such as to deflect any "attempted attacks" I am to face going forward in time (aware of myself in practice currently moving slowly in reverse).
Timeless track ❤❤❤❤
Avec le recul des années on ce dit que cette musique était un chef d'œuvre . 🎸👏
What a great song, I love it! I put it into my "Shellshocked Radio - Recommendations" List: ruclips.net/video/I4IGV5s8E84/видео.html Very well done!
Vraiment c'est incroyable
90's when everything was possible.
ronnyraggini look how it turned out, we sneer at today's music but it's r generation that now guides future generations, we failed them!
Ahh yes 90s uncut 😇
I miss the 90s so much!! The decade when I was aged 15 to 25. Great music and before all the troubles of the world. One guy even called it, "the end of history". Unfortunately, it didn't take long for history to begin again.
Now i know, there's no matrix.
Some 80s band were awesome too.
Butthole Surfers, my all-time favourite "everything's possible" band. Booze, pot, LSD, shrooms.. you name it, they did it AND produced the accompanying music.
