I started to surf at 7 years.I SURFED till i was 40. THEN I HURT MY BACK.I CRYED FOR YEARS. I could not paddle out ever again. I was into to much pain,I surfed P.R at 16,EASTER VAC. RINCON, stayed for 3 weeks. 1970, the waves were 7 to 12 feet most of the time!WE hit it perfect. GOOD friday .morning the waves were 20 25 foot I went out, Sat and Sunday the surf was so big, the waves must have been 40 feet. Only one guy was riding these .monsters,he ripe it up. I must say GOD bless these .men who ride these Giant waves, and keep them safe. They have some pair of you. Know what!!!!!! GREAT. FILM!! I. Watched other films, bigger. Waves much bigger.I don't know how they live through some of the Wipeout GOD keep them all safe!!
IM from long Beach long island,we get some great surf and some nice size surf. A great place to live! Fished all my life. I caught black sea bass to tuna. The ocean has been great to .me..I MUST add this I was married. To an A angel I want the whole world to know. She passed 2018 6 7. 1030am death unknown at only 58 I CANT SAY MUCH MORE ITS TO TO Painful!!
A big round of applause to the photographers who filmed these stunning surf sequences, wow! You put yourselves in danger being this close. Thank you for the sound of silence with just the waves crashing, it was crystalline and soothing. Just film rolling and waves crashing and surfers gliding. Pure magic!
I remember the first time a wave got me wrong. It plastered me on the ocean floor for what seemed like over a minute. I couldn't push off, sand and rocks slid under me like a conveyor belt, chewing my face as the wave backed off. I think it was only a 6 or 7 foot wave not this Mount Everest stuff. I can only imagine what damage these waves would do to me.
I got barreled hard by a 15 footer, shit was the scariest thing I ever experienced, and the swell just kept coming and coming, for a solid 2 minutes I was just getting pounded. I never went back out and touched a big one like that ever since. Hope I can get rid of the fear and hit them up again.
No crappy music so far. (I'm still watching) And extremely minimal slow-mo, only when it's appropriate/fitting. Dam i hate slow mo. This video is very very great. 👍 You make a great point @Doc Will.
Totally! Thanks for the sparing use of music!!! One more raging music video of the instead of letting us hear the wave and usual awesome sounds and I’ll skip.
Mucho mahalo powerlines! And massive shakas to all the performers players movers and shakers!!! This performance is fully stoking out the crew here on the Great Lakes our water temperatures are down to the high 30s and with wind chills we're in the 20° to teens this session is keeping us warm and hyped up psyched to go out and charge you guys are all heroes in our books thank you again for an epic session in such great eye candy! Massive alohas to you all our surf Ohana!
Super Merci c'est la première vidéo que je vois ou l'on entende enfin le son des vagues et non un hard rock ou une musique psychédélique débile ! Thanks It's the first video with the real wave's sound and not with stupid hard rock or psychedelic music
Great video, I salute these bravest men in the world! Especially the ones that go backwards over the falls and laugh about it! Balls of STEEL! Only thing that spoiled this video was that DAMN HELICOPTER! The sounds of the waves were great!
Good question. They all would rather paddle in. If it was too big to paddle they would tow but this size swell was right on the cusp of too big to paddle. Amazing challenge for all. Some expert surfers didn’t get any waves.
Those waves at the 24:30 section looked like walls...I've swum "for my life" caught inside some 10 footers, and seeing one of those walls coming at you must be one of the biggest adrenaline rushes out there...
That is a mountain of water. I would with 100% certainty die if I tried to surfe one of these waves. Looks really fun though, and this really shows the beauty and strength of mother nature.
Well as they say " When in Rome...do as they do." So..if you live near Jaws then there must be that wonderful magnetism of wanting to be part of those waves. How could you not want to paddle in to these gems. Memories for life
I look at this thinking...thats' not that hard, just takes some huge balls and really good timing. Then I realize I don't know what the hell I'm thinking at the moment. That's just a portion of what it takes to be there in waves like that. That's when I admire this all the more. No way I'd ever be in that.
I never realized Hawaii was directly south of the Bering Straits. When I saw the radar I was confused, like are they surfing fucking Alaska? And then I realize Hawaii was directly south of that. In my mind it's just this island all by itself in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. But that radar kind of blew my mind.
At 17:40 i feel is the biggest wave so far. He is squatting low, yes, but bear in mind the wave gets smaller the longer it breaks. So the very beginning is a monstrous face, 40 ft roughly, most waves before this are 25-30 ft. Once he drops to the bottom it's already smaller, just another 30 footer. I really enjoy that very first part, him at the top looking down a beast. Sketchy! Why ppl want waves this big has always baffled me. LOL
I thought one needed a jet ski to catch a wave that size because the waves travel so fast. I suppose under certain conditions (as in this case) it is not always the rule.
Actually when you're out there you want to have waterproof headphones and music from Santana! Song of the wind! You don't want to hear the crunching of the wave hitting the reef! Stay calm!
I LOVE this: No soundtrack, just preparation, explanation of what the team is doing and raw nature sounds.

Minus the helicopter. That got old

I sincerely love you guys for leaving the sound of those waves in.

the waves are so hyp-nauntical, especially the wave at 31:40. I've never ridden a wave or a surf board but I've watched many hours of surfers.
Mucho mahalo powerlines! And massive shakas to all the performers players movers and shakers!!!

Put the vídeo without a musical background, I thought it was very good, with natural sound tô feel the power of the seas.
Could do without the chopper
14:00 ....ouch
Connor on the SUP killing it!! I’m also getting anxiety at the idea of getting caught in the inside of that.. yikes!!
this vid was so fun to watch.. those kids are freakin crazy man!
This footage kept me mesmerized, forgetting to breath for for 50 min, 3 sec. -- RESPECT to you and the hellmen
this is very amazing season and place , this is this the ;) i am very happy to watch this thinks yes the sea and the sweminig
Amazing footage....Newbie question : why was no one towing?
Good question. They all would rather paddle in. If it was too big to paddle they would tow but this size swell was right on the cusp of too big to paddle. Amazing challenge for all. Some expert surfers didn’t get any waves.
incredible footage. have you considered using a stabilizer gimbal for your camera?
Yeah gotta get one for sure. We are on a broken shoestring budget so do you know anyone who can sponsor one?
Absolutely breathtaking
Nice shot of the sweetie , such a beauty okoli
GF just walked by and slapped me and said: "BREATHE!!!" yeah -- forgot to breathe
Gorgeous color. And like so many others, Thank You for no soundtrack.

It’s actually the opposite. You have to just relax and become a little piece of seaweed on the currents.
Surf or Die Awesome
Please put gopro on surfers
I think it pretty interesting how it looks like from POV perspective Jaws
What an epic day wow!
Awesome footage . 23:23 commitment.
do yas know how fast yous are going .I'm curious. plus onyas. living the dream
Mother Nature's perfection! 💯💪😎
I love sports talk. “We’re gonna see what goes down. Yeah.”
Jaws is Freaking SCARY as Hell!!! You guys are Nuts! ( in the good way!)
Yes, again, thanks for no music. I wish more car related videos would do the same. No better sound in the world, than crashing waves😎!!!
paddled an outrigger canoe off shore there in training for Molokai Hoe 1985, biggest swells I ever paddled in, with Kihei Canoe Club
Epic 🙌
No music no slow mo bullshit.just one gnarly hit after another🤙🤙🤙awesome footage
That guy going left: Bravest, most insane attempt ever.
Those waves have some really big balls taking on those surfers.....
thanks legends
That is a mountain of water. I would with 100% certainty die if I tried to surfe one of these waves.
Looks really fun though, and this really shows the beauty and strength of mother nature.
At what point would you say 'lend me a board please' I reckon the early waves look manageable... then the swell bumps up by 10ft
riding waves and making waves and being smart enough to know when to get out
The ocean has no mercy, you guys are nuts🤪
So heavy! Is that Jamie's board up on the rocks at 39:42?
haha I thought that too and checked comments specifically to see if anyone else noticed.
Well as they say " When in Rome...do as they do."
So..if you live near Jaws then there must be that wonderful magnetism of wanting to be part of those waves.

Memories for life
31:19 How do you survive that???? that guy was devoured by a wave that is comparable to a Nazare.
you train months to hold your breath for at least 3 mins while the wave spins you like a washing machine
That shit was soooo fucking steep. Imagine falling then getting sucked over the falls...absolutely nuts.
Pedro Calado from Rio de Janeiro.
Lots of surfers do get maimed
13:56 Ohhh Dayyyummm. Pe'ahi is magical though, such an amazing place.
Still hard for me to fathom that people can survive those wipeouts. I've been soundly thrashed on waves a quarter of that size.
I look at this thinking...thats' not that hard, just takes some huge balls and really good timing. Then I realize I don't know what the hell I'm thinking at the moment.
