Ashford is a lovely little place but agree the busy main road that runs adjacent is the only spoiler. It's really nice to stand on the bridge on a nice warm summer's day watching all the many trout in the river with that beautiful overhanging willow tree in very close proximity to the river and bridge. Also when there is a game of cricket being played upon arrival to the quaint little village it makes for the perfect setting on a lazy summers day ☺️.
My Wife and I got engaged sat on the bench where you sat facing the Sheep Dip Bridge followed by lunch at the River Side Hotel { now Rafters } in 2003. We had been together 25 years and thought it about time we made a commitment. We got married 6 years ago and visit Ashford regularly. Xx
Another fascinating video Becky. What a beautiful little village. Did anyone else notice the fabulous Morris Minor Van going by when you were standing outside Christmas Cottage. Keep up the great work
Loved your tour today, thank you for sharing it with us. It doesn't feel like Fall at all here, it was 93 F, so very warm. I enjoy seeing your countryside, towns and villages. I use to ride a tandem bike with a friend, it's a lot of fun. Some kids are late bloomers when it comes to riding a bike, just give him time. I'm going to make some gluten free pumpkin bread tomorrow, my favorite Fall treat. Have a great weekend, enjoy.
Such a calming presentation, great research about the church and surrounding area. The restaurant looks great and would be worth a visit. Christmas Cottage looks great. A definite joy to listen too, such a lovely genuine person x
Hi Becky, what a quaint place, everything in stone, thanks for the info in the church etc. You naughty lady having that lovely cake..lol .. You always look stylish and was that a Burberry scarf from Castleford where I am originally from.. beautiful.. Your vlogs educate and amaze me..thanks again.. Debbie Brid
Oh that cake shop was to die for, if theres one thing i have to have evyery year i come home to Scotland is a slice of Victorian sponge and a Tea Scone, 😊
Great vlog Beccky. Never heard of Maidens Garlands before. Thanks for the infomation. Sadly a lot of beautiful villages are being spoilt by traffic. Thanks for pisting.
Interesting episode becky I remember visiting that gift shop and cafe with my daughter when she was younger. There is a story regarding the tale of twelve headless men carrying a coffin at dusk down shady lane at Ashford in the old book ghost's of Derbyshire by Clarence Daniel.
Another lovely video of a lovely village. I wonder when they stopped using the sheep wash. Thanks Rebecca. I can imagine Eduard telling you to be careful on the tandem.
Lovely vlog again Becky, what a beautiful little village. I think the tandem ride would be great, maybe Edward will get a thirst to ride a bike after and if he doesn't thats okay. You are a total natural at this. Thanks for sharing it with us ❤ x
Love watching your videos ❤ My late husband proposed to me in the church there, Rebecca take a visit when well dressing is on, every year on Trinity Sunday,
Hi Becks! Thanks! Did James once do a vLog on a similar sheep-dip near a bridge on a river? The story about the Poohsticks game is correct, mentioned in the book ‘The House on Pooh Corner’ by AA Milne! There is now an annual Poohsticks World Championship held at Day’s Lock on the River Thames! 🤪
Another brilliant vlog, I live near you. It has inspired me to visit or revisit some of the places you’ve vlogged. Also love your cooking and craft videos 👍
Both myself & my husband loved looking at your tour ofAshford In The Water , great video. Love this place, we fortunate to eat at Riverside a few times, it is lovely, also the newly refurbished Ashford Arms is also lovely to have a drink or a meal...my late Father was very fortunate to spend his summer holidays at that Pub then, when his Aunty ran it 😊❤
Thank you, lovely village, tearoom and gift shop. The history of the village was interesting-sadly the quietness has gone with all the traffic-long gone is the horse and cart 🎉🎉
I used to go to the Old Post office cafe with my mum and dad many years ago and they did amazing home made cakes ❤ Happy memories. Very interesting story about the Maidens Crowns, never heard of them before. You must do the bike ride on the Monsal Trail its wonderful. We have stayed in the area lots of times and walked part of it with our dogs from the other end when staying at Beechcroft Farm - If you want a lovely meal and not as expensive as Rafters go to the Chuch Inn in Chelmorton its all homecooked and lovely.
Yes almost every lovely village is blighted by traffic it seems. I often wonder how idyllic they would have been back in the days of horse and carriage. I’ve stopped to watch cricket at ashford in the water. That Rafters look swanky… I’ll be sure to check it out as it’s not too far from me. Hope you’re keeping well Becky 🙂
Well done Rebecca! A beautiful mix of entertaining, and informative video. Great! 👍🏻 We will be honest, we thought you were having a little break from posting, we were starting to get withdrawal symptoms - missing our Becky fix!!….. 🤣 My Father was a keen cyclist and this was one of his favourite places to tour, the Monsal Trail and surrounding areas. He would reminisce regularly about it. Until next time take care Rebecca!🥰 J&M XX
What a brilliant idea to go on the Tandem, he’ll get to pedal while you balance and that might whet his appetite to have another go at going solo 💡 I hired a tandem once and me and my friend laughed all the way round the circuit ‘cause I insisted on going in the front but I have a massive bum so sat on her hands all the way round 😂😂😂😂 It’s all building memories! Loved that village 🙌
We did the Monsal trail as a family on bikes from Hassop station to Blackwell Mill. It was really nice. The kids took their bikes and me and the wife hired a tandem. Just a bit of advice. You really need to be in sync with each other or it’s a nightmare when one person stops to rest on the peddles, ha
Your right, I was aware not to use bread it was a slip of the tongue. I'll never forget as I got told off once by a park attendant 🤣, it's not good for the ponds either is it? Doesn't it cause more sediment or algae? 🤔 x
Hi rebecca i was wondering if you cut that one hour parking a bit fine i bet you could have spent an hour in the gift shop ha ha. Loved the vlog theres nothing like small villages ❤❤😊😊
Eclectic vlogs, becky,I've noticed recently one or two content creators have used other content creators vlogs,i dare say they may have to ask for permission, but if they don't & you found someone showing your content in another youtube channel, & it appeared to have plenty of views, would you be happy or annoyed. Just thought I'd ask that in case the situation ever arises..
Has ever I enjoyed your blog lovely place but it really winds me up that food places serve vegan and vegetarian which is choice not a illness I think it should be law that if you offer live choices you should have to offer a good selection of gluten free food it's right what you said you get fed up of same things but heads up next coffee shop always have a cake carrot or victory sponge things like that well they do in Barnsley so I'd hope anyway,
I couldn't agree more! I appreciate it must be hard as a cafe owner but it's so frustrating to only ever have a flipping chocolate brownie 🤣 thanks for the tips I love carrot cake too! X
