I think the first thing we have to do with this patient is teaching her how to brush and floss the area between the left central and the lateral. Do you see that old plaque and stains there? She is going to have a little bit of recession there but the teeth are still functional. The root canals are not failing and only a 1% of population has perfect teeth. I am sure if we check this dentist's teeth we are going to find lots of imperfections, but that is not reason to remove functional teeth, unless you are Brad Pitt or a supermodel. How about a consultation with a periodontics before thinking about removing those teeth? If she does not have bone on the labial area, maybe the tooth is not in the best position. How about ortho treatment to correct the position of that tooth with a periodontics consultation and maybe some gingivoplasty to give some symmetry to the gums. Now the bone loss between the lateral and the central is a vertical bone loss, not horizontal, which it has better results with perio surgery. It would like to see the interproximal bone loss with a periapical x-ray and not a panoramic. Panoramics are not clear on the front area. I would recommend this woman a deep cleaning , a periodontics consultation, and maybe some whitening treatment, and that will take care of the situation for a while. the teeth would look 10 times better of what they are right now, and she would feel better for a while if she can control the bone loss. And if she is not in pain and we control the perio disease, then, she can continue smiling for a few years. I mean, look at that big picture. what normal person would check these teeth that close? Maybe only her boyfriend, and he already loves her anyway. I think oral surgeons like to go very drastic with their treatment plans. And remember, dental implants are not forever; they also fail. And the patients do not get their 5-10 thousand dollars back when the implants fail.
Omg Doc! You have NO IDEA how grateful I am right now to hae come across your video! I just went 2 weeks ago for a consultation and left crying after 1.5 hours. So there's one aspect of the front tooth bone loss ordeal that I've not heard anybody address, and that is you have to remove the front tooth to do the bone graft. How in the world am I supposed to walk around for four to six months without a front tooth while the bone graft heals?
I have done the bone grafting procedure and one front tooth is missing of course I understand the mental pain but at the end accepting yourself is the only way, you will be emotionally stronger and once you get the confidence it will be all okay and as you know the result you are gonna be okay you are gonna get implant right ?😊don't worry the hard time will pass....
@@pranoti7 Love your reply. Going th(rough) it right now. I had the same reaction and quickly reminded myself of the positive outcome. I actually tapped into faith and realized it was another unforeseen surgery needed to remove an invisible problem. I'll be in better health to move forward in my seasoned journey. Thank you again for your positivity. 🙏🏾❤️
When it comes to front dental implants, go to a periodontist or specialist that is well trained. I had a general dentist first do mine and they came out a TOTAL DISASTER. Eventually I had to get them removed and redone.
@Audrey Kyaw Yes, I was very happy with the redone implants. Go to a periodontist/implant specialist with a very good reputation and credentials....DON'T GO TO JUST ANYBODY....especially when it comes to the front teeth.
@@kathygehres7172Did you get a bone graft before implant ? Did the periodontist give a PRF - your own plasma so your gums will heal better ? My gums is still dark red after the bone graft from front tooth. It has been 3 months already. Did your gums from bone graft heal better. Thanks for information.
I just got my new bridge for my lower 4 teeth and when the dentist told me all 4 would have to come out. I cried for a couple of days. My dentist was good about putting me at ease that after a few days I scheduled and am so glad I did it. My mouth feels so much better and my gums have stopped hurting.
The case you mentioned are similar to what i am experiencing😢. After my dental implants I could barely chew and a lot of problems around the implant and areas. The General dentist could not even correct the wrong surgery that he did. He Kept giving excuses that the implants are not going to feel like the original tooth. I will be seeing u soon, hopefully. I feel dental implants should only be done by surgeons and peridontist. As the a general dentist does not have the expertise to do implant. I wish I knew better ! It’s very vital we seek the right specialist to avoid unnecessary cost and dental or health complications. Your video is sure very informative 😅
Thank you for the video. How about treating the reason for bone lose, eradicating the infection, bacteria and so on and then letting the body regenerate?
My dentist didn't even bother to say or let alone help. Until it was to late with gum disease now. He keeps saying it's because I smoke. Iam a regular visitor and there's been no intervention
Thanks Dr. Choi for your very informative videos on the need generally for bone grafting when implants are considered to replace front teeth. I sadly had my left upper front tooth (#9) lose it's cap about three weeks ago after it was attached almost 8 years ago (and later that night another piece of it also broke off). I had the tooth extracted but did not have a bone graft at that time. Seeing your videos now, I wish I had let them (or requested) a bone graft when they did it's extraction. I have been diddling around about this whole situation and whether to seek doing an implant overseas as of course my federal dental plan only pays for the exam and extraction (not bone grafting, implant or a replacement crown - my federal insurance has denied all of those things.) I was going to wait until next year and then when/if my wife and I go to Vietnam, look at doing an implant there. After seeing your videos, I think I should look to have a bone graft to preserve my chances of doing an implant later even though my dental insurance (Dominion National) will not cover bone grafting or any implants. Thanks for the informative and interesting videos on bone grafting and implants.
Thank you for the important info. I really wish I had known much earlier in my Life. I have one question. Do you have experience with patients who succeded to heal their gum disease - with brushing, flossing, mouthwash/ listeriaen, maybe whole food plant based eating? Is there no possibility of regaining healthy gums in “natural” ways? 😁🌷
Here is praying that science moves fast because the options are not looking too great for patients with bone loss. I don't hear anyting at all about preventing bone loss.
WOW ❤ THANK YOU SO MUCH This is the BEST video I’ve seen regarding Implants vs Bridge. Perfect timing because I’m right in the process of getting one of these procedures done on my two front teeth. I’m seeing a Prosthodontic.
I had puffy bottom gum. I was told just now that I have significant bone loss on one tooth. And that it would continue to come back. Meaning the puffy abscessed gums is that the case. Because you can’t see it when I smile. I just want the gums to go down. They did a cleaning and gave me medicine.do I go crazy or can I keep it easy Peezy?
Fantastic info, I have a consult with a DDS in two weeks for my #9 that I smacked in a fall as a child. Fast forward 40 years, I need an implant and am terrified of what he will tell me. I’m hoping it’s not as bad as your patient in regards to difficulty. This was fabulous info. Do you happen to know what this woman decided on doing?
was your tooth root canaled? hope not. ive seen so many have trauma as a kid, then ge it root canaled and then have massive infections later on in life. never heard from this patient again. a lot of timees people dont hear whatthey wanna hear and never come back. they typically try to ignore it for a few more years which is unfortunate cuz things get way worse in the meantime.
@@northtexasdentalsurgery Yes, root canaled and canaled a second time as well. I really am hoping there isn’t any infection or extreme bones loss. My general dentist says it’s time to put my fear and procrastination to the side and do it. I assumed he hadn’t seen bone loss over the years and not said something like YOU GOTTA GET THIS FIXED NOW. The oral surgeon is supposed to be the best here, we will see. I will def let you know how it goes. Wish I was in N Texas, I would have already come in to you guys! Thanks again for the awesome info in your videos, it’s super helpful!
Very very well! I went to a third surgeon, one I felt was both highly educated, and well regarded by not just patients but his peers! Which I thought was important too. So, it was severely infected and bone loss. He pulled #9, did the bone graft and fast forward four months, scanned it and was very happy the graft has hardened very well! I’m scheduled to have the implant inserted in April 🎉 Very exciting! Wearing a retainer with a tooth is not pretty! I recommend a bone supplement for anyone requiring a bone graft, I attribute it to my successful healing. I took Naturelo Bone Strength, it was a massive four capsules a day, but I just opened them and added the powder to a smoothie in the morning, left no flavor. Thanks for asking! It’s an exciting scary journey. My final restoration should fall around Nov! @shooter.mcgavin.
Thank you to Dr Choi, had I not watched your channel, I would not have been nearly as educated a patient! I really appreciate it, I even understood what the surgeon was saying while pointing at the CT scan, highly valuable info. Nice to understand the complicated nuances. 👍🏼
My case is similar, but it's a bit worse. I have more bone loss. Two fake caps in my front teeth with one extremely loose. I've had these changed 3 times within 30 years and I'm beginning to think this can be not all but part of this reason for having severe gum disease. I thought once they stopped the gums from bleeding a while back 2019( before the pandemic) when I had a deep cleaning that I was cured. But this has gotten worse. I have a treatment plan costing me 3300 just for a few codes. If you'd like I could type them here.
Is there a difference between bone graft, bone generation and sinus lift.? Could you explain the differences. I have since 2012 a three crown bridge situated in the upper right backside, which is loose due to bone loss. A bridge may not be an option since my front teeth consist of a two dental implate constructed with a four crown bridge. Is a sinus lift very painful? GREETINGS FROM GERMANY. I am very glad that I have pivate dental insurance. What is another option in my case. I am over 60. THANK YOU.
In remission from Throat Cancer 2cnd year (Radiation and chemo ) Degraded bone "flaking" a bit after. Front top bridge just ( after 4 years replaced w 2 " Glassfiber posts " (?) ) just fell out ! Decayed Glue?? .Options You Might point to ? And Cheers For ALL of Your REALLY GREAT WORK/Videos!!!!
I just had tooth 2 extracted. I'm missing all my wisdom teeth. Does it matter if I wait a year and then proceed with the implant? Will I be able to get a bone graft after a year if I need it? Thank you
Can you give us the break down in price how much is a root canal and cap ,Implant,x-rays ,etc so we have a clue and what if you had a filling for forty years and it falls out to replace it with a porcelain enstead of the mercury one
Oh boy Doc, my case was similar. My ex-husband, a dentist did some really bad root canals on me. I had massive bone loss from a central that wrecked my lateal too. 3 years at a dental college, a dental surgeon, periodontist, proseodontst., 2 bone grafts, 2 tissue grafts 4 implants and a hybrid zirconia bridge 16k later. My smile is gorgeous. It was a long haul, the best advice you gave. Don't let a general dentist do root canals or implants on you, run to a specialist. They can't take a short course and know how to do complicated work. The dentist that completed my work is now in Houston. I had a fabulous surgeon supervise my grafts and it's perfectly balanced. Nice to hear your segment.
You're so fortunate! I was quoted 25K MINIMUM by a general "cosmetic" dentist who just rushed me in and out, didn't consult any pros at all, didn't seem to want to study my case, just wanted me to book the deep cleaning I needed and said "Well worth about the other stuff later." I'm like... this is a consultation and this guy doesn't even want to THINK about the complexity of this? I then went to a man who was over 80, couldn't straighten his fingers from such bad arthritis, had no idea what to do bc my case was so complex that he wanted to consult with multiple pros in the industry. You wouldn't think my teeth are a train wreck by looking at them but finding bone loss, open bite, off center, and needing root canals and a bridge on top of it, I would do ANYTHING to find someone as smart as the doc in this video so didn't change a Kings ransom to make my teeth look like yours. I'm in New York and you'd be shocked at how few GOOD professionals there are here. They're like factories and all they care about is doing the easy way out! One suggested an implant on a tooth (same area as the lady in the video) - and my good friend who's a dentist (too far away from where I live) said "No way... you need to look at the big picture" and she suggested doing full implants! Who can afford that?!
@North Texas Dental Surgery hello dr....do you work or recommend any here around or closer to NY....you seem well knowledged and I have a very similar issue going on....Tha k you in advance if you do recommend anyone here around the NY area!

This is great information, thank you, I have a question, are gold posts in teeth 100% gold? If not, what are the other materials and in what percentage roughly? Thank you doctor!
If bone and gum loss are severely gone; what would hold the implant on and in? What if tooth has no cavity or root canal or filling but gum extremely recessed in the back behind the teeth. How could implant hold ????
They will do the implant procedure after a bone graft if you don’t have enough bone underneath . Graft might be taken from your jaw or tibia or from a donor
That was great information. Would love to know how much for Bone graft in my LUQ. I had work done when dentistry was not so advanced and so bone graft was not done at time. Now I need it, and I know is going to be costly. Thank you .
I had a bone graft 6 months ago and when i came back ready for implant, the bone growth is just not enough that even adding more during implant wont give me 100% success so the dentist concludee that i am not a good candidate for implant 😢 I came in to enquire about veneers too so he suggested to have a 3unit bridge with veneers instead of implant. Is this the right decision? 😢😢😢
Excellent explanation. One thing I noticed is how it seems there is an adequate bone between 21 and 22 teeth in x- Ray and how it seems no bone between them in tomography. Can it be the calibration of the imaging devices ?
Is it true that if you get dental bridges then your face will start to sag and sink due to the loss of bone tissue and an implant may help restore the sagging instead?
I have the exact same situation with the same teeth ( actually a bridge that's failing because of root resorption). I've been putting it off but I'll need bone grafting and then the implants. Going to take a year and enough money to buy an economy car. Are the implants as strong as real teeth?
Hi Dr. I called the dentist you recommended in Las Vegas. The office staff quoted 50,000 for implant supported dentures..that's crazy for dentures with implants. Help
This sounds a bit like my situation. I had two root canals done years ago. After having two babies 3 years apart and wearing braces for over 10 years.(hate my parents for letting this happen) I’m experiencing extreme bone loss on one tooth. I’m in Houston but would travel to Dallas but i have no insurance. Can i pay for you to do X-ray work to get more advice?
Hi my tooth got infected during pregnancy and I have bone loss. Can you please let me know What ended up happening to your tooth? Did this start during pregnancy?
Hello Dr. Daniel Choi, I have learned a lot from your videos. I have never placed any bone graft in my career yet. However, I have a quick question for you. In the case of placing guided bone regeneration to prevent bone resorption after extraction of #9 and #10 due to localized periodontitis, wouldn't the bone grafted site lose bone anyway since there will be no longer be teeth (pontic site of the bridge) to continue to stimulate that bone?.. If the bone underneath the pontic maintains its bone height and width, what is the lifespan of that bone graft until we see a bone resorption in that area?
Dr Choi, I eventually went for the removal of my upper front 6 unit bridge. My dentist decided it was best to do 6 individual implants, instead of the 2 unit implant supported bridge - 2 implants per unit as he had previously thought. However during the procedure due to more bone loss than he expected he decided to do the implant supported bridge with 4 implants. It’s been almost 2 weeks since the procedure and I’m healing well. My question is, what is the fair cost my dentist should charge me when doing 4 implants instead of six ? Thanks, Shema
Can you do a video on 2 teeth missing that need implants and a mobile tooth that need to get Extracted. That might need a Invisalign first before getting the implants?
I am getting a second extraction with two bone grafts for the two missing teeth in front before orthodontic treatment. I have an oral surgeon, dentist and Orthodontist team working together. I would get implants after ortho, since got to move teeth first. meantime the Invisalign will have little acrylic teeth to cover missing space
Had two implants recently ready for a bridge. The stitches appear to be loose and gum has not healed around one implant, there is a gap in the gum and the implant can be seen, what will happen? Is this normal? More stitches perhaps? Anyone experienced enough to give me an answer?
Informative! Question: How do I slow down bone loss around gums (front teeth)? ((2)….5 MM pockets detected after years of perfect oral health within a 6 month period. After 2 periodontal and 1 Endodontist consukt
Could be related to diet when you do have great oral hygiene. Look up Traditional Chinese Medicine and check if you have kidney or bladder issues. front teeth, 8&9 are related to kidney and bladder, maybe diabetes?
I have a question .. if one didn’t have bone loss prior to getting an implant. But after the final implant now there is such a little triangle between the new crown and adjacent teeth. Can the gums close these small spaces on their own with time? Dentist didn’t really give me an answer, he said it can happen but it takes several Months. Would be interested to hear your opinion. Was looking at my X-rays and to my (untrained) eye I think the bone looks fine no area of bone loss
What are the reasons that would cause a bridge to last for the amount of years you exampled towards end of video? And also what is the dental code for the bone graph you mentioned if they have not said they would do then to run? I did go for consultation and have my proposal for top 4 teeth so I would like to see if this bone graph is the one that is on my proposal. Actually I would love to email you my proposal if you wouldn’t mind. I cannot make my mind up and I just want them to last as long as they can and I have very good dental hygiene just have bad genes. I have had bonding in my top front teeth for about 13-14 years now which should tell you how careful I am not to chip or break it. TIA

I used to have a beautiful smile. People would often compliment me on my teeth. But an ex boyfriend changed all that when he knocked my front tooth out. Then Dentist decided to take out all of my back teeth, so I had no other choice, but to chew on my front teeth which started to chip. Now I look like a crackhead and I get treated like that as well. Once a bubbly, beautiful girl now I’ve become isolated and severely depressed. I no longer go out in public. I don’t go on date. I stopped going to my gym. It’s literally ruined my life.
To look at her teeth one wonders why she wants implants. The fact that dentists are discovering that bone will regrow and strengthen perhaps he doesn’t need new teeth she been therapy to reclaim her bone and gums.
I have periodontal disease and my gums inflame and go down. Would u recommend implant or bridge? I have bone loss. I'm on seizure meds that mess my gums up bad. And I cannot change my meds. I've had braces-my pockets are deep-and they r separating again.
@@northtexasdentalsurgery Do you provide paid consultation options via email for people who can't get to you? I'm in NY and Texas isn't an option. I would like to pay you for a consult, send you photos and x-rays to give a clear picture, and obtain guidance on your opinion on best course of action.
How about guided bone regeneration with simultaneous implant placement? I've read some literature about the procedure, thanks to a relative who sells medical and dental instruments, and it seems it has a good rate of success in horizontal bone regeneration, plus the healing time is a bit less because both procedures (the bone grafting and the screw placement) are done at the same time. I'm really interested in this because I have severe bone loss and will probably lose my two lower frontal teeth, but I absolutely do not want a bridge if I can help it, yet current dentist is kinda trying to push me towards that option, citing that horizontal regeneration is less successful than vertical regeneration. I'm kinda leaning towards changing dentists, but now this video makes it sound just as impossible as my dentist says and instead of giving me hope it did the opposite.
I have 2 misding teeth and 3 Others that have bone loss...my dentist has referred me to a specialist for bone grafting and implants...they are recommending to pull the rest of my teeth and doing all on 4 or snap ins...does this sound right?
I couldn't even notice anything wrong until you pointed out. Even then it is hardly noticeable. Isn't it normal to have receding gump lines as you aged into your 40's and 50's.
Is it true that if you get dental bridges then your face will start to sag and sink due to the loss of bone tissue and an implant may help restore the sagging instead?
@@marco7838 I'm not a dentist BUT I don't think a tooth bridge would cause your face to sag. A dental bridge just connect your tooth to the two adjacent teeth for support. Just do a search on "dental Maryland Bridge" and watch the video to see how it is done.
@@marco7838 If you have a chipped tooth or a partial tooth, you can restore it with what is call a "class 4 / class 5 dental restoration". Search and watch the videos. There isn't any need for an implant or a crown. Keep all your teeth if you can unless there is no other way. Some dentists and doctors want to charge the maximum amount and not really what is best for you. Really unethical and very common nowaday even though they earn a very nice income already !
tysm for the info. Now i lost a tooth on the side of my 2 front uppers; which are veneered. So I am definitely going for the implant with the missing tooth. I guess my question is, as my 2 front teeth have bone loss also. Should i go for the 2 implants for the 2 front teeth or is it even possible to removed the veneers & put new ones in & is it worth it? any thoughts. i might add removing my 2 fronts are scary to me even though they would be replaced with the bone grafting & implants. Again thanks for your thoughts Also, p.s., my sides on front upper left teeth are loose too LUCKY ME> HAHA
Can i check for implant surgery isit painful during and after surgery? Take how long to be fully heal and done? After implant surgery will the results become like normal teeth or? Actually i planned to do (upper front) but i scare after surgery does not get i want or not properly recovered i also quite scare dental too 😂 do you have any suggestions?
Ty for the video. I got my upper canine tooth replaced with an implant. The crown is also placed. Unfortunately I am not happy with the results. It looks unnatural. If I have to describe it as good as I can; a natural tooth comes out of the gums, with my crown it’s the opposite. You see that it is not coming out of the gums. Also there’s a dark shade at the edge of the crown/gum. They increased the length of the crown to put more pressure on the gum, but still it won’t look natural. I don’t know where to look for information how to get to a better result. Do you have more information about this topic? Or is there anyone in the comments that has gone through the same situation? I tried to describe it as clear as possible. English is not my 1st language
Not exactly the same I have braces and both my canines are missing my dentist gave me the option of implants or removing my bottom teeth to even everything out and pushing all the gaps together seems like he keep pushing me towards implants even tho I’m telling him I’m not comfortable with fake teeth. Other than them looking unrealistic are there anymore cons ? , do you deal with pain from having metal drilled in your gums?
@@melaninmagic2741 I don't have any pain from drilling. When they placed it I got anaesthesia and after a couple hours you feel pain but for me it wasn't that bad. When it was all healed I didn't feel pain at all. Hope you'll get some insights to choose what's best for you.

@@melaninmagic2741 I've red things where people have complications as well. So many different cases. Yea.. they are rlly expensive. I have two loose teeth in the front on my lower jaw I just got a deep cleaning and the dentist told me that there is a chance that my gums now that they are clean might grab on to my teeth and I guess save my teeth I just want to know if that can really happen?
Yes it can happen. Something similar happened to me. For me, my teeth wasn't loose, but instead my gums started decreasing around my teeth. They did a deep clean, and now my gums are back to its old position. Don't worry about it, you'll be fine. :)
@yairincedano5225 No do not pull it unless it is giving you problem. Take care of your gums and teeth. Eat nutritious food. It is hard to have no normal teeth. Eat meat and meat collagen. It may reverse your bone lose.

@@girlwithoutacountry644 ahh thank you so much! 😭 A lot of people on the internet say implants are better, but the main reason why i didn't choose an implant is because apparently, you would have to disrupt your jaw bone, which might lead to bone density reduction in the future and also other complications like migraines and rusting of the iron. I would love to know your opinion...why did you choose a bridge over an implant?
Nice video but, you seem to boil it down to, oh no implants are super expensive and hard, versus, oh no, a bridge is cheap but could be super expensive and hard later..
I just had a bone graft and implant on tooth 10. Still wearing a flipper. Now tooth 9 has so much bone loss all of a sudden and my dentist is telling me I need another implant on that tooth! I’m so upset that I have to go through the process again. Do you know what happened to tooth 9?
I'd almost BET it's from not chewing on it. I have one in front with a really thick veneer on it and I'm convinced that stupid prosthodontist never should've done what she did! It is so thick I can't "cut" the food with it and it's top front. So "lack of stimulation" caused the bone to deteriorate.
From a dental site: "Bone loss can occur from misalignment when teeth are no longer providing direct stimulation as a result of not having an opposing tooth structure."
This is the most helpful dental education I have ever had. I did not learn much from my dentist. Thank you!

THANKS DOCTOR @!@ I WATCHED YOUR VIDEO ALL THE WAY THROUGH. YOU'RE VERY THROUGH ON EXPLAINING THE PROCEDURES.
I was in the dentist this morning. This video was so helpful but made me super emotional.
Who did you go to?
Honest information, much appreciated.
Great video. Such a common issue. And for patients to understand they need to know dental anatomy - Fools rush in where angels fear to tread
Thank you for the video. How about treating the reason for bone lose, eradicating the infection, bacteria and so on and then letting the body regenerate?
thatwould be good follow up or similar info
The best advice 👍 🙏 I wish you're here in DC or anywhere in DMV area 😢
He is definitely the doctor for me.
There's a lot to be said for dentures. Done and dusted.
Or resorption issues

Additionally, the oral surgeon did do the guided bone regeneration and I had a fistula as well, that was cleaned and sutured from the inside out.

THANK YOU.

Who can afford that?!
glad it helped! also I'm glad to hear your treatment went well! always great to have somebody good working on you

So what was the outcome for this patient ?
What causes all the bone loss besides gum disease

I have the exact same situation with the same teeth ( actually a bridge that's failing because of root resorption). I've been putting it off but I'll need bone grafting and then the implants. Going to take a year and enough money to buy an economy car. Are the implants as strong as real teeth?

Oh god ! I am having the same case right now. Somebody pls share the contact details of this doctor. Please please pleaseeeeeeeee 🙏🙏
When the only option is to strengthen upper receeding gums, what medication do you recommend doc?
Dr Choi, I eventually went for the removal of my upper front 6 unit bridge.
My dentist decided it was best to do 6 individual implants, instead of the 2 unit implant supported bridge - 2 implants per unit as he had previously thought. However during the procedure due to more bone loss than he expected he decided to do the implant supported bridge with 4 implants.
It’s been almost 2 weeks since the procedure and I’m healing well.
My question is, what is the fair cost my dentist should charge me when doing 4 implants instead of six ?
Thanks, Shema
Why wouldn’t you use the lanap for this case?

I have a question .. if one didn’t have bone loss prior to getting an implant. But after the final implant now there is such a little triangle between the new crown and adjacent teeth.

How can you use dental floss between them?

@@alouise3557 you are right, I lost the back tooth or I swallowed it, because I don’t chew anything on the left side
I make Chew sticks part of my routine when watching TV at night.
