My daughter raided my allotment for fruits and made a variety of wines for the first time last year. Thanks for your inspiring vlog. She now want to make cider so I've agreed to spare a few kilos of my Discovery Apples this year for her to try making a bottle of Scrumpy which, as a Somerset girl, is her favourite tipple.
It was a collective effort from my old band 'More Silage' 🎸🎹😁 I've been using the tracks in the videos because I've been a bit lazy with composing music recently and it's not easy to find (free) royalty free music on the Internet 🎶😄
I like your videos so much. I get stressed out about life, and this is my 15-20 minute escape. It's crazy how countries considered by the World Bank to be the most developed, also seem to be the most out of touch with this sort of education. Thanks for helping us find balance Rob!
Ah yes, 'developed' very much depends whose perspective it's from! Thank you for such kind words. I'm so happy to hear I'm helping 😊 Do you have a garden or anywhere you're able to grow things? 🌱
Thank you again, Kittie 😊 There was an album out once, though it was before the digital age so it's only on CD! 💿😄 Our band was called More Silage. (There are a scattering of songs/and music videos on the internet if you look really hard! 😉) We must get back together to produce something internet available! 😁 For interest: www.scrumpyandwestern.co.uk/moresilage.php#:~:text=More%20Silage%20are%20David%20Buchanan,Campbell%20(drums%20and%20on%20rare
Rob, is there something that you can't do ? 😂 I have put up so much of seeds to sow and put some chicken poop for composting. It will be my first time growing Parsley from seed. Any tips that you can give me ? I've read that it's seeds need a "cold stratification" process. Temperatures here at day are 35°C and 23°C at night. Btw, the new song while harvesting apples is chic and cool ! 👍🏻
Thanks again, Sam. I'm just learning as I go 🤷🏻♂️ whilst documenting the process! 😄 I don't know much about growing in your type of climate 🤔 Do you have a refrigerator?
@@robsdiscovery Yes, I do have a refrigerator. Well, I stay in a tropical zone. Rob, I never have tasted Rhubarb either, everytime I think of Rhubarb, I imagine your yard and that video of yours. Try making a jam with strawberries someday as well. Would you believe that in a country of 1.35 billion people, there are just noways to find Rhubarb seeds online in India. I'll have to import some to try them. But I wonder if they'd even grow here. Your watercress episode has inspired me to pick seeds of watercress last day. You're my inspiration.
@@abc_cba That's a shame you've never tried rhubarb but I'm sure there are many exotic delight growing where you are that I've never tried also! Let us know how you get on with the watercress seeds and/or rhubarb. I'd be intrigued to know if it grows there. I would have tried making strawberry jam but it's so easy to come by here that I've not bothered yet 🍓😄
@@robsdiscovery Well, Parsley loving zone is Europe, Northern America and Middle-East. India is not a fan of that herb, we are into cilantro/Coriander. I assume the chill hours that Rhubarb needs won't be enough at right where I live in Central India. You should try a Rhubarb-Strawberry jam someday.
Thank you, Elliot & Lou 🤗 I'm so glad you approve 😁 Oh! I must update her credit in the description from 'extra pair of hands' to 'extra pair of hands AND assistant camera/telephone holder!' before she notices! 😄
I've got a question and I hope you may help me 🙂 I never made cider and I'm coming to the idea of giving it ago in the near future as maybe for Christmas gifts. (I'll get to the point 😂) So here is my question, when is the best time to make cider? Is there any certain time of year that makes a difference? Also are they good for storing away for a few months? So make cider and store it away like in summer maybe and then comes Christmas, would they still be good for present?
A good question but with so many variables! It very much depends on what apples you're using, where in the world you are and therefore what your ambient fermenting & storage temperatures will be like. Typically here in the South West of England the last of the apple harvest is in October so cider is made then. It ferments slowly over the cool winter months and is usually ready for the following spring but some is ready to be given and/or consumed around Christmas time. But yes, if stored properly could be given for the Christmas of the following year. Lots more info out there but I hope that helps for now! Cheers! 🍏🍻😊
Awesome stuff Rob! Bet your cider will be delish!! Just love love love all your videos! 💕
Thanks, Claire. It really is delish! I drink your compliments with equal relish! 😄
Your videos always calm me down in this crazy world! Thanks rob. Looks super yum! 😃
Aww, that's really kind of you to say so. That's part of the point of them, so they're succeeding! 🤗 Yeah, super yum 😋😄
Please never stop making videos I look forward to every one
Thank you again, Clancy, that's a lovely thing to say 😊
I was in Somerset in 2018 and I really loved it there. Especially the friendliness of people...actually everything
I love everything about it also but then I know little different 😆 Whereabouts are you from?
@@robsdiscovery by now you know :D I think I prefer the strong dry one

A nice little touch of serendipity there 😉 You're most welcome 😊 More on the way next year 😁 Or maybe perhaps apple wine next time 🍏🍷😄

Indeed, Kittie. That's happened at least once this autumn, with hopefully more times to follow 🔥😌 Are you able to do something similar this year? 🎃🍂
