We’re not worried about Alex. He makes us proud everyday. We make time for him to do absolutely NOTHING and give him his space (as you all see on this VLOG) but then there is also a time to rejoin the dynamic, take on responsibilities and do something different too. This was at 2pm and it was time to come and eat some food. 🤗 I know mommies all over can understand where I’m coming from and why some days, it’s frustrating. None of us are perfect. While we understand how teenagers are, some days we also have to pull them out of the comforts zones and help them to raise their own bar. We could have edited this out but we let it remain to help others to also understand that they’re not alone in trying to understand their own teens. As a mostly silent cousin, I had to break my silence after reading some of the comments. I'm an introvert and lived in a similar situation as Alex's. I would stay in my room all the time...reading, listening to music or just simply chilling. My aunt would get frustrated as you did Tami until we sat down and had a talk one day. She said she had no problem with me staying my room because it was better that, than been out on the street doing lord knows what but she found it disrespectful that I didn't even come out and say good morning. After that, we were fine. I'm in my 30's now and I still stay in my room every chance I get but if I visit friends or family, I always come out to at least greet them and chat for a little before going back to my room. So Tami, I understand your frustration. You don't have to come all the way out Alex, just push yuh head out and say, "I'm alive guys!" 😂 Stay blessed everyone.
I like how Alex grows. He doesn't have his Mom nor Dad & he's not at his house per say, so he doesn't get too all up in Waynes bizness. Going to bed late and waking up at 11am starts at age 12!!!! It's the new norm. The kids are mostly affected by these lockdown's and social distancing. It's good that they have games and other social media to be able to meet friends online to socialize. Don't be so hard on the teenagers.....

Alex is at the age where he is going to sleep a lot, eat a lot and just laze around. At times he may also have growth pains. He can't help it. It will pass soon. Some teens behaviour vary.
I can attest to the growth pain it’s a real thing! My son is 6”5 and he had them. But Alex is a good kid with pleasant vibes. Consider yourselves lucky if this is his worst. Trust me yuh don’t want the sulk and sarcasm
I think teenagers typically stay to themselves not because they're lazy, but they're going through a developmental phase, and it's worse if they're introverts. Like others also said if they don't have people around their age or who they can do things with, they will stay to themselves (I was the same way as a teenager).
I read the comments and see people saying Tami should take time with Alex and I understand where everyone is coming from but I dont see anything wrong with what she said towards him..Is the same way my mom would deal with me too. Parents just love to see their children and see them up and doing something constructive or else it would seem rude. Also some of you are judging from one clip in the vlog. This MTM family is so good. I've always been so happy read the comments and see the positivity. We are allowed a little clip of their life and even if I don't agree with everything I keep it to myself and remind myself I don't personally know these persons and not to judge. This channel has some of the most wholesome content.
I'm from a different part of society. I rather boys stay in, than go out of their bedrooms because of the ills of society, peer pressure, and then picking up some behaviour where you wonder where they got it.. Tight pants, Weed smoking, Dawdi talk, And just a lack of morals. Seeing Alex locking away, I can only assume he's on his phone, or he's watched TV late. I am more fearful of him being the out door or out-of-house type. Maybe wudda a bun weed already.. Or supm like that

Take time with Alex Tami. He seems so soft spoken, calm and cool. He is a teenager indeed and I have heard boys do just what he's doing. As long as he isn't getting himself in trouble, with the wrong crowd or so, be gentle with him. Unless of course he is a different person off camera. Brother Wayne, take Alex one side and have a chat with him, check in with him. Maybe the spot light is a lot for him and to avoid being on camera he just stays in his room. There might be a lot going on.
Modern day teenagers. Their biological clock is different many of them stay up late so they rise late. If you allow them they become a recluse. I understand where Tami is coming from but I understand the teenager also

One of the reasons why I love this Jamaican family - even if not perfect, you guys always try to show compassion and integrity. I gained even more respect when Tami decided to free the crabs stating that they already had an abundance of food to eat and everyone supported, even Daddy Joe. A small act which showed much character and responsibility. Really proud of you guys representing Jamaicans! Also proud of you guys for even considering vegetarianism, and in regards to veganism - in case you didn't know because usually lack of awareness is the issue - Essentially, even when you get to "keep the cow, take the milk" there is still long term suffering and slaughter involved - we often think of a happy mother and her calf in a grassy, open field when we consume milk but we don't usually realize the demand for milk by a large population of humans pressures the suppliers and therefore the cows to be abused and misused by corrupt capitalizing industries. Cow's milk is mass produced by force inseminating the mother cow repeatedly (since mammals can't produce milk unless impregnated) and each time after each birth, separating the baby from the mother in order to take her milk that was meant for her baby. The baby is considered a BY-Product that is not needed in the milk industry - all it does is drain the liquid gold that could be sold instead for profit, right? So it is either eliminated immediately or kept in a small space unable to move, fed with cheap diluted artificial milk powder shake, making their muscles underdeveloped and then sold to the veal industry (which was developed to try and gain some profit in the by-products of the milk industry). After the mother has been drained and is no longer able to produce sufficient (profitable) amount of milk - after spending her lifetime being forced impregnated and being separated from all of her calves - she is sent to the meat factory to be slaughtered. We are naturally empathetic creatures, but our lack of knowledge and awareness leaves us vulnerable to act as cogs in a big cruel machine. There are ethical ways to go about doing things, and for the most part we do truly and sincerely believe that we are doing things in the most ethical ways possible. However, ignorance is never an excuse to continue doing the wrong thing without the guilt. Knowledge is power and small actions create big change. I know myself I am not perfect and I'm really not trying to be one of those weird, "I'm better than you", Karen types. I am also a work in progress myself so I'm definitely never judgmental to ANYONE for their decisions. Just sharing this knowledge because of my love and respect for you guys. I know we're all trying our best, but it's ok to admit that we can do better. Regardless, I've always had and will always have much love for the Mitchells, I'm a first cousin so you already know been there from day 1/vlog1 and you guys have never failed to make my day lighter and more positive. Being an introvert myself I'm 19 and I can definitely relate to Alex situation not that I wake up late but knowing that it's not all the time he would want to be in the camera.
I loved Tami's motivation today. It is true that sometimes we get caught in limbo about a situation for so long and still end up not making a decision in the end or take so long in making the decision that we lose alot of time or lose out entirely on what we could have and should have received from the experience. Just be decisive.

My hubby have a teenage son and trust me no one can get that boy out his room to do anything it's just games and food all day every day. No matter what we do so we let him be he will be off to university next school term if he can't learn now how to survive out there then he will learn on his own.

Alex is at the age where he is going to sleep a lot, eat a lot and just laze around. At times he may also have growth pains. He can't help it. It will pass soon. Some teens behaviour vary.

I think teenagers typically stay to themselves not because they're lazy, but they're going through a developmental phase, and it's worse if they're introverts. Like others also said if they don't have people around their age or who they can do things with, they will stay to themselves (I was the same way as a teenager).

Take time with Alex Tami. He seems so soft spoken, calm and cool. He is a teenager indeed and I have heard boys do just what he's doing. As long as he isn't getting himself in trouble, with the wrong crowd or so, be gentle with him. Unless of course he is a different person off camera. Brother Wayne, take Alex one side and have a chat with him, check in with him. Maybe the spot light is a lot for him and to avoid being on camera he just stays in his room. There might be a lot going on.

One of the reasons why I love this Jamaican family - even if not perfect, you guys always try to show compassion and integrity. I gained even more respect when Tami decided to free the crabs stating that they already had an abundance of food to eat and everyone supported, even Daddy Joe. A small act which showed much character and responsibility. Really proud of you guys representing Jamaicans! Also proud of you guys for even considering vegetarianism, and in regards to veganism - in case you didn't know because usually lack of awareness is the issue - Essentially, even when you get to "keep the cow, take the milk" there is still long term suffering and slaughter involved - we often think of a happy mother and her calf in a grassy, open field when we consume milk but we don't usually realize the demand for milk by a large population of humans pressures the suppliers and therefore the cows to be abused and misused by corrupt capitalizing industries. Cow's milk is mass produced by force inseminating the mother cow repeatedly (since mammals can't produce milk unless impregnated) and each time after each birth, separating the baby from the mother in order to take her milk that was meant for her baby. The baby is considered a BY-Product that is not needed in the milk industry - all it does is drain the liquid gold that could be sold instead for profit, right? So it is either eliminated immediately or kept in a small space unable to move, fed with cheap diluted artificial milk powder shake, making their muscles underdeveloped and then sold to the veal industry (which was developed to try and gain some profit in the by-products of the milk industry). After the mother has been drained and is no longer able to produce sufficient (profitable) amount of milk - after spending her lifetime being forced impregnated and being separated from all of her calves - she is sent to the meat factory to be slaughtered. It has been thoroughly documented, mother cow's having strong emotional attachment to their calves at their birth and suffering trauma each time their calves are taken away from them, both calf and mother crying for weeks after the separation. I implore you to watch documentaries (maybe without kids around) - like "Dominion" - narrated by Joaquin Phoenix as well as "Forks over Knives." As human beings - we all try our best to live in peace and unity with not only each other but with nature and all things around us. We are naturally empathetic creatures, but our lack of knowledge and awareness leaves us vulnerable to act as cogs in a big cruel machine. There are ethical ways to go about doing things, and for the most part we do truly and sincerely believe that we are doing things in the most ethical ways possible. However, ignorance is never an excuse to continue doing the wrong thing without the guilt. Knowledge is power and small actions create big change. I know myself I am not perfect and I'm really not trying to be one of those weird, "I'm better than you", Karen types. I am also a work in progress myself so I'm definitely never judgmental to ANYONE for their decisions. Just sharing this knowledge because of my love and respect for you guys. I know we're all trying our best, but it's ok to admit that we can do better. Regardless, I've always had and will always have much love for the Mitchells, I'm a first cousin so you already know been there from day 1/vlog1 and you guys have never failed to make my day lighter and more positive. Being an introvert myself I'm 19 and I can definitely relate to Alex situation not that I wake up late but knowing that it's not all the time he would want to be in the camera.
I loved Tami's motivation today. It is true that sometimes we get caught in limbo about a situation for so long and still end up not making a decision in the end or take so long in making the decision that we lose alot of time or lose out entirely on what we could have and should have received from the experience. Just be decisive.
