Hans Zimmer was nominated for best original score for Interstellar ... and lost to the Grand Busapest Hotel? That was ridiculous and insulting. Nobody will ever remember the Grand Budapest Hotel soundtrack, but "STAY" is one of the most sublime compositions of the last 100 years and will live on for hundreds of more years. Thank you Hans Zimmer for this original and deeply soulful work. STAY has a truth in it that everyone can recognize, but not articulate in words. Such is the result of a truly profound music like STAY, that builds in your solar plexus and moves up to your throat and leaves you in tears. Thank you Hans, Thank you Hans... thank you!!!!
This song, in particular, absolutely gutted me during the film. The moment when we watch the rear of the truck driving away from the farm and his daughter just sucked the wind out of me.
Stanley Rodgers it reminded me when I was a little girl and my dad have to inmigrante to the USA being illegal just to provide for my mom and my siblings and I, I felt terrified cause I know that he could died in the way and if one day he come back it will be years so I’m not gonna be that small and he will be old 😭😭😭
@@mortizya666 It is amazing the way music can evoke memories, good, the bad and the rest. There are so many songs, whether they are part of a movie soundtrack or just songs, that take me back to a specific point in time in my life. I have often wondered if all people get to experience that with music.
4:22 look at it. You can clearly see he is overwhelmed with joy listening to a true piece of art that HE created and being brought to life in front of him. You can see the violinist smiling and can tell that she enjoys playing for Hams Zimmer and his music, a man driven by his imagination and the ones performing, creating a bond to give birth to a harmonic piece of art. That’s what music is and what it should be.
About those musicians... This piece (among many others) was performed during the _"Hans Zimmer Live In Prague [2017]"_ concert (ca. 2h18.5' in total) - it's worth not only hearing (with all the stories told in between blocks of fine music), but also watching. Due to the pandemic, I've not been able to see my mom for almost 3 years now. Every-time I listen to this track, I can imagine myself in the airplane, waiting to get out, get my luggage and rush towards the exit door at the airport and run to her like I used to when I was just a child. I guess, I'll always be a child. The only good thing is, I have my own 1 year old boy who's going to run with me to see his grand mother for the first time.. :-) can't wait for that moment!
Listening to this version of the song got me through moving 1700 miles away from home. It calmed me down during a hard time. I listened to it the whole month before I moved. This makes me cry every time I listen to it
The deep, unexplained feeling it makes me feel. Human existence. And the set of emotions you feel when you light a cigarette while deep in thought about life, death and the mystery of the universe.
This song is so beautiful and strong, is one of those songs that elevate the human spirit and it transmits you very strong feelings of nostalgia, sadness and greatness at the same time. Hans Zimmer is a completely genius.
It’s that minor to major change, from the sound of loss to the sound of absolute wonder and the intrinsic beauty of it, with or without the film that really gets me and now I have a wet face!
At this moment in the film when he chooses to leave his family in order to save them, is when it becomes so much more than a sy-fi film. It shows true loss of family and the hardships of seeking answers.
Over a decade ago. This brings me back to my difficult decision to leave my ex. Had to move to different country and all I visualize are my daughters crying, telling me to…stay.
I believe the OST is missing that guy with the guitar (Guthrie Govan) and he truly does an *excellent job* in this piece here. At least I don't hear his lament in the OST, unfortunately.
So honored and blessed to say I saw this live. I busted my ass off at work to afford the tickets. SO. FUCKING. WORTH. IT.
Hahaha.. I concur!!! Same here!! $$$ LOL

I agree, those pricks from Holliwood should be burned alive for their crimes
I agree
Hanz Zimmer do deserve an oscar for many of his work including interstellar but the grand Budapest hotel was phenomenal
Well said!
@@lakroufazzeddine1927 Grand Budapest Hotel was an overrated movie, which I found boring and long, and a forgettable soundtrack.
