This song was originally sung by Reshma...many many years back. Producer ,writer and lyricist Gulzaar invited her India (while making his rajistaani film LEKIN.)..and listened this song....he then wrote in Urdu this song with same tune and used in the voice of lata ji for his movie, ' Lekin'
That’s a shame that hridaynath Mangeshkar took the credit of the music director without giving Reshma her due credit. Hridyanath plagiarizes other tunes, too, including the central theme of Lekin. He should have declined the national award for Lekin since the most famous compositions were plagiarized and not his original. I love Lata, but she blindly loved her brother, that’s annoying.
