Thought provoking as ever Rosie, and wishing you all the best for 2025. As Marx said, ultimately it will come down to socialism or barbarism. As the so called free market neoliberal system breaks down we are now well on the way to barbarism. 'Socialism' of course takes many forms and is open to many interpretations (as is communism) but to my mind unless we move toward a system that distributes the resources of the planet and the fruits of production on a far more equitable basis, we are totally screwed. As the economic system breaks down it can no longer fulfil even the basic needs of millions. This drives behaviour, and Rosie I watched one of your talks on selfishness recently with interest. When the dominant economic and political system cannot cover the necessities of life, selfishness, greed and violence inevitable come to dominate. We have to find alternatives even if that means taking a fresh look at just how we organise society, and tackle some political and economic preconceptions.
