Was a lifty on shooting star a few seasons ago. Spent my lunch breaks dropping every cliff I could find. In Colorado now, but think about Meadows terrain all the time
I ride (snowboard) Meadows once or twice a week in the midweek. If Cascade is open you'll find me there, or over in Heather or Clark Canyon. I wear a black and brown Natural Selection pant and jacket, black helmet, and usually my wooden sunglasses. I often have beard beads in as well. Say hi if you see me, I'd love to do some runs together. I don't go in Private Reserve very much but I would if I had someone to go with.
Yooo! I'm not much of a freeride skier (racing background) but I've been looking for folks to ski with since I haven't gotten to really explore meadows more. I grew up skiing out of Stevens Pass and most of the good stuff at Meadows is significantly harder to access. Honestly skiing the MeX chairline at night while its dumping is pretty hard to beat. Still got to try out some night skiing at Ski Bowl since I've heard that's even better for night time off piste runs.
@@hankstowers it’s pretty impressive those are a 116ww ski with such an amazing turning radius. You absolutely rip those things! Keep up the content man. Your editing was pretty dope too.
Maybe a hot take but I think that Mt. Hood as a whole needs to start taking itself a little more seriously, paying more people to staff their resorts, and investing in slightly better infrastructure. Some of the deepest days of this season were closed because of issues that more esteemed resorts would have had fixed in an hour. So I'm hoping that a little more exposure can make the mountain live up to its potential a little better
Also personal favorite thing - the wind at meadows definitely hammers the lifts with rime and slows chairs but it also makes skiing there an adventure by changing the shape of the terrain and adjusting the 'micro-aspects' where the best snow is. It's not the most in your face resort but it's just so fun.
I agree that Meadows is definitely one of the top two places to ski/snowboard in Oregon for sure (the other being Bachelor). It can get a little wind blown at Meadows (and also just get A LOT of wind), but much better than what I have drive access to (which are all at least 2 hr drives) in south eastern Washington. Definitely underrated for those outside of the Vancouver or Portland areas.
Nice vid. Grew up Colorado (A Basin, Vail mostly). Skied Meadows since 1981 after college and patrolled there from 2000 - 2020. Still up there 15-20 x year. It really is underrated and a great area to discover. Great steeps in Heather and Clarks and lots of good / fun tree stashes all over.
Friend of mine who moved to Portland was saying I should come visit so we can shred Mt Hood. Was sold before seeing this but now it's a non-negotiable. Excellent skiing too, you got some amazing shots 🙌
I've been riding meadows for like 7 years now since I've moved to Portland, these spots are dope and love the stuff that you hit off cascade and vista that cliff over by the base of hrm is a good one too. always get a season pass we should hook up and do some runs together looking for a ski buddy to push more of my limits. good stuff my dude!
Dope vid!!! I just move to Govy and working at Tline. Thankfully I get free meadows pass! Just need someone to send it with!!! LETS SEND IT this season!!!
Love these spot checks! Giving meadows the all-season shine it deserves! Could see some mini episodes throughout the season in similar fashion. How to ski it on this type of day etc 👏
You're good man 👍🏻 this video was dope. Seeing the mountain and runs up close and personal for first time looked pretty epic. That shot you had mashing through the trees was gnarly. I went up in march on perfect blue bird day this year snd stayed in a cabin for the bday🎉🍻🤙🏻
I mostly ski at Timberline/Skibowl since i'm new and it's closer, spent a crappy day at Meadows last season (bad snow, bad weather, only like 3 lifts running and kid comps everywhere). How often is the upper ski area actually open? I feel like I really only had access to the lookers left of the mountain as most of the right side was closed for wind/rain, same with the upper level. Once the snow started falling about an hour till closing time it got really fun. I don't think i'm good enough to really get the most out of it, but the upper portions you showed on the bluebird portion looked like a ton of fun. Those windlips looked wild!
Upper portion is the best for great skiing at a wide variety of skill levels! It's completely weather dependent, but in my experience if there is visibility and no major wind, they usually have cascade running. Most consistently open in March and April.
I would say it depends on when you are going to go. If you are only interested in going 6-8 times, and you can kinda cram them all into a smaller window, I'd maybe get the Meadows Spring Pass, because March and April have the best conditions and it's a lot less money. If you can't control when you go and you just wanna go, I'd say it's worth it!
duuude this was sick. RIPPING!
repping meadows well❤️

Crazy sick dude, so many great hidden spots on hood. Stoked to have seen you rip in person last season.
Thanks Nathan! Let's get out this year 😊
This is so fire holy moly
sick video grew up here and there were a few spots I've never seen people hit that you did. Super rad
Thank you! Tbh I think there's a lot more stuff that I haven't found yet also :)

Do you pre record this video? Because when I saw this vid was posted 3 days ago I was like is mt hood meadows open early? So I’m a little confused
Mt Hood Meadows season goes from November or December-April. I recorded this last ski season!

also let's keep it undiscovered yo

Stop talking about fight club
I think it stops being fight club when you have to buy a season pass 😂
This is so sick. Meadows deserves the love. There is always something fun to ski at my/your/our/everyone's mountain home.

Getting my hyped for the season but it’s only September 😢
Rode the tree a little too long on that last one lol. that was huge. Great video and skiing as always

I started skiing last season and I’m addicted, but this is all so far out of my league that I just have to wonder-how long have you been skiing?
I've been skiing since i was a little kid! But I know some folks who have only been at it for 5 or 6 years and are on a similar level to mine.
such an underrated channel
amazing skiing and great footage. Loved it.
Nice riding! Don't forget about Steel Reserve and Use the Force!
