Can't believe there wasn't any mention of Paz's sacrifice either in the last episode. Especially after they built the respect and trust between Paz and Din earlier in the season when they saved Ragnar. Who also finally got his ceremony uninterrupted at the end, but without his father. Disgraceful they completely glossed over that

I'm convinced that Grogu was originally never meant to be in this season. Or if he was it was only going to be small appearances of him training with Luke. The ending of S2 was a massive change up in the story and for that to be undone BEFORE S3 even came out makes me wonder why. Why did we have what was essentially the first couple episodes of Mando in Book of Boba? Why did they chose to bring Grogu back so quickly? I have my guess as im sure many of us do. If you think about it. This season without Grogu would have made so much more sense and the aimless nature of it may have been excusable. It could have been played up as Din being aimless without Grogu around. The tone of the season would have felt justified but with Grogu in it, it feels aimless without good reason. Overall I'm pretty disappointed with the season. 2 years of a wait just to get this is not the way. At least Andor was amazing otherwise star wars would feel very dead to me again.

Without a DOUBT there should have been 1 whole episode dedicated to Mando being captured. His interrogation, more Empire stuff, and the episode ending with a group coming back for him. They make him get captured for literally no reason lol. AND here we are with 3 complete seasons and no information about the Armorer. One of my favorite characters who plays a huge role in Mandos story. We don't know ANYTHING about this character still.

I wish they would take more risks and be bold with this show. Like if Din being interrogated led Gideon to attempt the mind wipe on him (for reasons), and Mando is saved right after the machine turns on but he was still affected to a lesser degree, and then use this as a way that he is cleansed from the dogma of his religion. Instead, they undid all of that character development they spent 2 years building and tied him even deeper into the cult like mentality.

I absolutely agree that it was a mistake to bring Grogu back in TBOBF. I‘ve thought about an alternate way this season could have played out with the two being separated while still adhering to the broad story:
Chapter 1: The Mines of Mandalore. More or less the Plot of Chapter 2 but without Grogu and R5. Also including the opening of Chapter 3.
Chapter 2: The tribe. Din and Bo arrive at the base of Din‘s Mando tribe. They help to defeat the big turtle. Then we get most of Chapter 4‘s plot (minus everything Grogu). At the end Bo gets accepted into the tribe and Mando and Bo leave to find Bo‘s Mando-gang to reclaim Mandalore.
Chapter 3: Guns for Hire. They find them and help them with some sort of mission and get them to join their cause. At the end we get the reveal that Gideon escaped.
Chapter 4: Return to Mandalore. This one is very similar to Chapter 7. Only difference is that their fleet is a bit smaller, Din does not get captured and after Paz sacrifices himself, the Mandos escape and basically get overpowered.
Chapter 5: Uniting the Clans. Through connections some Mandos have, they search for other clans, tell them about the lies the empire spread and about Gideon‘s presence on Mandalore. At the end, most follow them.
Chapter 6: The Plan. All the clans come together to reclaim Mandalore. They split into groups to sort of sneak into the base through different entries. Din goes with the Mando-survivors they found on Mandalore. They turn out to work for Gideon and Din gets captured but he manages to send a signal. Then we see a comlink beeping and Grogu‘s shadow.
Chapter 7: Jedi Lessons. We basically get the training episode from TBOBF, albeit it has more jumps in time, so we can better see Grogu‘s progress. In between we also get the flashback from Grogu getting rescued from Order 66. At the end we again see the comlink beeping and Grogu wanting to help Din.
Chapter 8: The Battle for Mandalore. Din gets escorted by a dozen troopers. Suddenly one gets sliced in half by a green lightsaber. A second later, another one gets attacked by a second green lightsaber. Luke and Grogu free Din. They get reunited. At some point at least some of the clones get freed and Luke can fight them. Since we have more Mandos now, we will get a bigger space battle and at last Gideon gets defeated. Din and Grogu have a hard time saying goodbye. Luke mentions that Grogu‘s basic training is over. Mando and Grogu stay together. Same ending as in the real Chapter 8…. but then we cut to an imperial Star Destroyer. Captain Pellaeon steps onto the bridge. “Grand Admiral, we just received Information that Moff Gideons efforts to hold Mandalore have failed. He died.“ The camera shows Thrawns back and we hear him speak: “His obsession with the Mandalorians was his downfall. He never understood when to let go. He never understood to see the bigger picture….“ The camera zooms toward his back, Thrawns theme intensifies and the screen turns to black. “Thrawn will return“
Wow, I spent way too much time on this.

I think the 2 Mando episodes in Book of Boba diluted the Mando series and they wasted a great opportunity to have a climatic ending in season 3. If Season 3 started with those 2 Mando episodes, and Grogu actually choose to train with Luke, that could of been the basis of season 3 where we go between the 2 stories of Grogu's training and the Mandalore story, with Grogu turning up in the last episode to rescue Din, similar to the decision Luke had to make at the end of Empire where he chooses friends over his training. Now that would have been an epic season 3.

I think Favreau recently said that he’s writing seasons 4 and up. The only good thing that I can see for this ending is that it allows for a Timeskip; I can see 5-10 years passing. One thing that the ending really missed was the conclusion between Din, Bo, and Grogu. Like they just leave and they don’t say anything to each other even after everything they went through. Bo Katan never thanked Din for staying with her and never abandoning her even though everyone else had left her at that point. it really showed how loyal he is and how much respect he has for her. Din should have told Bo that he was going to go out into the galaxy and destroy the rest of the Imperial Remnants so that Mandalore could be safe. Bo could’ve offered to join him but Din tells her that her role is to be on Mandalore, guiding their people as Duchess. That would’ve been much better than the final Rebel Pilot bar scene imo. She could’ve possibly even given Grogu the Kyber Crystal from the Darksaber, so that he could at some point build his own lightsaber!
hopefully Din and Bo meet up again in the future and their relationship is further explored whether it be platonically or even Romantically. I mean you can’t see the end scene with Grogu saving the two of them as not being a total Mando family moment.

The entire scene where Moff Gideon was like "I'll handle this myself" and walks towards the door when the camera was rolling and then makes a U-turn off camera made me laugh so hard. When Din was trying to sabotage the clones, I was sure Gideon would show up in some kind of sneak attack. Instead we get a successful sabotage after a clone opens their eyes and Gideon waiting on a platform that makes it seem like he was plotting an escape. Turns out he is sad that Din just blew up his precious clones even though he could have maybe walked the correct way to get to Din before he made it to the room in the first place. Like how stupid is this version of Gideon? He better be a clone or I'd have to say that was some of the poorest script writing for an antagonist I've seen in a while. Probably tied with Palps somehow coming back to life.

I really feel mando season 1 excelled so well because of how intimate that project was. It really felt that the creators of the show had a really good aesthetic in visuals and story telling and was a really good tv show with just cool quirky adventures such as the ep where they broke into the prisoner ship which i think is the coolest ep as all the characters were just very well played and felt like real original characters. It was great how it brought star wars back to a higher level and brought all of this new attention to it. However from this it just became a pure cash grab. Like i feel they must of added a bunch more people that just screwed with all the ideas and really i feel completely changed the original direction for the show. Like they really have just tried to make it as much lore based as possible. they have just jammed a bunch of elements of star wars into one. Like jedis, cloning, cloning with the force, order 66, darksaber, complex mandalorian lore that seems to be ever changing rapidly and is now kinda hard to fully keep track on, , zev, thrawn like its all getting a bit too much. like the inspo for he show was like a western movie and season 1 felt like that, it had its own story in the star wars universe. now its just like a fan fiction series that is now kinda dumb and cringey with only a few parts that feel somewhat close to the first season.

I would add that season 2 (while being kinda too cameo-filled) was still pretty much a great adventure of the week type of show, with each episode being very entertaining and different from the others. 3rd season became much more serialized and the writing got significantly worst (if my entire family and not just me is calling out the dumb stuff constantly, something definitely changed)

For example, you didn't need to watch The Clone Wars and Rebels to understand who Bo-katan was, she was presented as a new character that worked perfectly for the story and the development of Mando. But this great type of treatment got absolutely lost with TBOBF, where you had to watch The Clone Wars, The Bad Batch and know about some unfinished never-made episode of TCW to barely get any idea of why a showdown between Cad Bane and Boba Fett would be cool. Mandalorian S3 didn't have the cameo problem at least, but failed in many other aspects that S2 didn't.

I personally didn't think Paz Vizsla should've died; he definitely could've survived that situation & retreated safely with the rest of the other Mandalorians. I also feel like the story around Moff Gideon's force sensitive clone project was too rushed when it was finally introduced. I feel like the way they were setting it up in the first 2 seasons was somewhat well paced, and then everything ended right away at the "climax of the plot" (the reason Moff Gideon was so focused on capturing Grogu); personally I feel like they could've shown this in season 2. Lastly, I didn't really like the way the dark saber was destroyed and basically how fast it was forgotten about in a way. I personally rank the seasons in the order they came out with season 1 being the best season for being so good without the cameos of other popular characters and doing a good job introducing a new and interesting story, then season 2 for the progression of Mando taking Grogu in his care & choosing to show his face in the end of the season to the child he developed a father/son relationship with. Also, Grogu's story progressing; although I didn't really like the season 2 was somewhat used to more or less introduce new shows instead of just focusing one progressing the actual story of the Mando show. However, it was still good. Season 3 I personally wasn't crazy about it considering the bigger impacts and introduction the previous seasons had. The ending also felt like the ending to the Boba Fett show where it's a happily ever after story. The biggest problem I have with Season 3 is that we see Grogu becoming more independent, but not using his Force powers as much as you would expect. After meeting Ahsoka and spending time with Luke, he still looks to Din to tell him it's ok to use them. Then, after having seen him Force choke Cara Dune and later two stormtroopers, while simultaneously throwing them around the room, all he did when the Praetorian guards were attacking him was Force jump to evade them. I think he could have easily Force pushed two of them off that platform and threw the other on against the wall before anyone knew what was happening. I was sure he was really going to let them have it when I heard him cry in such distress over them attacking Din. But he just backed away from them insetad of using the Force. Now, because of his lack of experience fighting, he may have just been stunned when he fell. Ok, I can give him a pass on that, but it just doesn't set right with me that they seem to have "dumbed down" his Force powers now. I don't know if there was meddling by KK, or any Disney people, or what, but it didn't make much sense to me. Even if he just backed away so Bo Katan could have her fight with Gideon, ok, but at least have the kid really use his Force powers when HE is being attacked! Yoda did say that that a Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never attack. So, that's what they should have let him do.
Other than that, I think the first two episodes could have had tighter writing. The first one just felt like wasted time there. Also, I think with some rewriting, they could have switched the Plazir 15 episode with the pirate episode.
All that said, the whole season did feel like a reset. I hear rumors and can only guess whether or not they are true based on what I see on the screen. TBOBF seemed to be going along fine until the kids with the fancy bikes came into the picture, and then it felt like the Mandalorian episodes came out of left field. It really did feel like someone messed up and someone else tried to patch it up. So, because of that mess the thing with Gina, and Grogu suddenly returning to Din, and probably other nonsense going on behind the scenes we don't even know about, I can see why Favreau would really want to wrap up this story, move on, and start fresh next season. He said he's already written Season 4, so all we can do now is wait and see. If there is no Season 4, and/or Favreau walks, well, we got a happy ending. And honestly, it was pretty much the life I envisioned for Din and Grogu since the end of Season 2. I could tell that all he really wanted was to earn a living and be with Grogu.

Sometimes defending yourself comes down to killing someone who is trying to kill you.
Let's face it. It would have been really cool to see one of those guards suddenly fly into the air and go over the edge of the platform and then have the camera turn to see IG-12 and Grogu cry in distress and say, "No. No. No. No." The other two can go after him and shut the door. Bo Katan could have her moment with Gideon and Din could enter the room to find Grogu thowing the other two around. Din can still kill them with Grogu's help.

So if Grogu did tap into it to save himself and Din, he would likely just let it go and move on, happily playing with the frogs in the pond near his new home.
But maybe not tapping into the Darkside is supposed to show growth in him. Even so, I think they could have let him do a lot more and still keep him on the Lightside.

I felt that they also abandoned a ton of build up in the first two seasons. Grogu with Luke and his development. And then there was din jarin who was learning that maybe his creed isn’t all it promised it was. Not to mention that the darksaber in the book of boba fett. It showed an internal conflict that din had. Some say that he didn’t really care about using it but that doesn’t make sense since he fights to keep it from Paz vizla, and he trains to use it better. He sees it’s value but I. This season he just treats it as an after thought. I thought one of his huge motivations and the huge quest of din was gonna be finding the mines to be cleansed only to discover along the way that the children of the watch are not 100% correct, but intstead they dragged us on a wild goose chase. I wanted din to rise as “THE MANDOLORIAN” since that’s kinda been his thing. I wanted to see him become the leader or at least a very prominent figure on his way to leadership by the end of this season. Instead the retracted his internal conflicts they retracted his character growth and gave us what was largely a pointless season.

    A. The retaking of Mandalore was originally a 5-6 episode arc but due to an 8 episode mandate they had to stretch it out (which would explain the filler)

I was asking John Something in Season 3 and Season 4 I think the 2 Mando episodes in Book of Boba diluted the Mando series and they wasted a great opportunity to have a climatic ending in Season 3. If Season 3 started with those 2 Mando episodes, and Grogu actually chooses to train with Luke, that could have been the basis of Season 3 where we go between the 2 stories of Grogu's training and the Mandalore story, with Grogu turning up in the last episode to rescue Din, similar to the decision Luke had to make at the end of Empire where he chooses friends over his training. Now that would have been an epic season 3. I personally didn't think Paz Vizsla should've died; he definitely could've survived that situation & retreated safely with the rest of the other Mandalorians. I also feel like the story around Moff Gideon's force-sensitive clone project was too rushed when it was finally introduced. I feel like the way they were setting it up in the first 2 seasons was somewhat well-paced, and then everything ended right away at the "climax of the plot" (the reason Moff Gideon was so focused on capturing Grogu); personally I feel like they could've shown this in season 2. Lastly, I didn't really like the way the dark saber was destroyed and basically how fast it was forgotten about in a way. I personally rank the seasons in the order they came out with season 1 being the best season for being so good without the cameos of other popular characters and doing a good job introducing a new and interesting story, then season 2 for the progression of Mando taking Grogu in his care & choosing to show his face at the end of the season to the child he developed a father/son relationship with. Also, Grogu's story progressing; although I didn't really like season 2 was somewhat used to more or less introducing new shows instead of just focusing on progressing the actual story of the Mando show. However, it was still good. Season 3 I personally wasn't crazy about it considering the bigger impacts and introduction the previous seasons had. The ending also felt like the ending to the Boba Fett show where it's a happily ever after story. Not to say that there always has to be conflict, but it just felt like it was a Disney princess story ending in my opinion. I 100% agree with your Theory. Every point you made was spot on. They made a whole episode about these big ahh birds that they coudnt chase due to low fuel. Yet they seem to have plenty. Looking back at the season we spent 8 episodes to wind up finding out that the mandalorians returned on mandalore and the empire had a base. The stormtroopers suck and Disney has made them go from a level 3 to 1. Kenobi they got knocked out due to a palm. In the finale Gideon sends two incompetent storm troopers. Luke showing up was the culmination of a 2 season arc. Compared to season 2 season 1 is very tame with much lower stakes. I think this season of Mando is a way of "landing the plane" so they can move in a brand new direction without any loose ends to nag them. They obviously pivoted from their original plan at some point, while unfortunate I think they did a great job setting up a blank slate for season 4.
I also believe we will be seeing both Mando and grogu in shows like Ahsoka or BoBF. Favreau and filoni are master story tellers and they know where this is going and the story is obviously worth telling. We just need to be patient.
Season 2 put the bar so high there was no way they would (or in my opinion should) shoot for something as meaningful and amazing. It would cheapen the magic that was season 2 and if they had made a deliberate attempt and failed we'd all lose our minds lol. I believe we have some great star wars content on the horizon but unfortunately it won't always be here how we want it and when we want it. We just gotta trust that the content we're experiencing leads us to more amazing season 2 moments! But hold the line my friend! There will be amazing things in the future.

I feel like after the explosive reception of the season 2 finale, KK had enough and put a quick end to it. I feel like during the production of the Boba series, it was the beginning of the end. There was a clear turning point. The Gina Carano fiasco, the rumors of Jon having to step in and course correct, the jammed in Mandalorian episodes, the questionable jumbled plot lines since the end of season 2... I feel like Jon and Dave did their best to bring Star Wars back and were under cut and met with resistance the entire way. The way this season ended, I feel like it's Jon's way of doing his best to try and wrap up what he started and get the hell out. That's just my personal opinion.

I think you are on point, but still play it safe. For most of season 3 I was not invested and the ending made me quite mad. Last episode is being praised by many and I'm surprised because it shows that public prefers action and explosions over a plot. Last episode - like you've said - reset the show. And it's go deep. Before this series we saw no Gideon, Mandalore was ruled by Bo Katan who was trying to rebuild a broken society, Empire was crushed and Republic was slowly rebuilding. After this season Gideon and his plans are gone, Imperial base on Mandalore and Pershing's research is gone (it was established that Pershing was pulled from Quiet council to do staff for Gideon in secret) and Bo Katan once more rules Mandalore trying to rebuild broken society.
To be honest, in span of this 3.5 seasons only thing that is changed is that Din found Grogu, Darksaber is gone, Empire has some spygirl in Coursant and that what's left of the Empire is even weaker as it has lost brilliant scientist and access to beskar - which makes rise of the First Order even more absurd (I know that there is a difference, but let's be honest).
With one episode they removed potential of Pershing research leading to Snoke and supplying Empire with so unique resources, which could explain their rise. I really do not like sequels, however thanks to Mandalorians' threads like this I was starting to accept that First Order had indeed chance to grow to size we meet it as.
I see no point of so many threads. Yes, there was a few of episodes which change nothing and we were bother by it - Jack Black one, Frozen Egg Cave one - however I feel like now whole threads are equally pointless. What was the point of showing us the clones if it was stated to the camera that they were all destroyed? What was the point of bringing Gideon back for season 3?
I really feel like season 3 was already done having a big continuation in mind, however something changed when it was too late and Grogu had to be added and ending itself was changed. I see no other explanation, as this two things really stand out from this season.

I’m starting to notice a thread possibility this season which,if I’m right, is a very gutsy and possibly genius story telling move on Fav-loni’s part, especially going forward.
They could use the Dins as our view into major Galactic events from the viewpoint, not of the “main” character (Bo, Ahsoka, the Skywalkers, etc.) but rather from the eyes of a pair of extremely competent “support” characters who come in, help the “heroes” resolve their conflict, and then ride off into the sunset and the next adventure.
That way they can “cross paths” with, say, Sabine or Boba, or even Po or Ray, help them, and move on.
In season four of “their” show I can see them taking various missions that lead to them uncovering information leading up to the Thrawn movie. They will also come across things needed for their own growth like a Holicron for Grogu’s training as an example.
    The possibilities are endless.

You were to nice I think. For me personally, this season was total garbage... 2/10. It was all over the place. Gideon's death was also extremely underwhelming. Din and Gideon should have had a much more bad ass fight. I also think that Grogu needed to stay with Luke this season. They should have been training together and Luke teaching Grogu about the force and jedi knowledge. Mando should have been alone at first. You know, going to the mines of mandalore to redeem himself and so on. Then we would follow Bo and Din's story about them trying to rebuild mandalore. At the end Din would be captured by Gideon and Grogu would have sensed that his father is in dager. Giving Grogu a difficult choice of either completing his Jedi training with Luke, or go save his father (similar to what happened when Luke needed to decide to either finish the training with Yoda or go save his friends on Cloud City). Then they would be reunited once again! It just seems so forced to have Grogu reunite with Din so early.... especially when we had such an emotional ending to the previous season. I have almost lost all hopes of Disney making good SW content. Almost everything that they make is extremely mediocre. Maybe even bad at times. The only good content that Disney has made is mando s1&2, first 2 episodes of boba fett, rebels, cw s7, Bad Batch and tales of the jedi. I am very skeptical to Ahsoka aswell. I mean, we all thought that the Obi Wan show would be amazing. I mean obi and vader/anakin are so EXTREMELY important characters, it was impossible for Disney to ruin that. Yet, we got a show that focused on a forgettable and bad written inquisitor, goofy chase scenes and very few emotional or good ones... I just hope that something like that does not happen to Ahsoka. I just do not understand what Disney is doing.. They have EVERYTHING that they need on a golden plate. I mean for f**k sakes remaster or remake the amazing games like clone commando or KOTOR. Reintroduce these amaaaazing stories with modern technology... Go back to old star wars novels and comics. Make moves/shows out of them!!!!!!! But no, Disney want to make their own star wars universe. A universe that has no soul or good storytelling. Just one that makes money and one that they can milk and milk and milk for alt that it has....

Perhaps this issue has already been examined extensively here; it certainly has been on some other channels.

    OK here’s my pet theory
The original plan was either to end the Mandalorian at the end of the second season, or at least and the grogu part of it. I really think if they had their way we wouldn’t see baby Yoda again except maybe decades afterwards.
But then money concerns took over and the creators were told they had to put Mando back with baby Yoda.
I have heard rumors that Jon Favreau is kind of checked out, creatively. I think that might be why
And I think it’s mostly Filoni running the show. And he generally has pretty good instincts but they aren’t perfect. When you think about it this season is a lot like book of Boba Fett. A lot of it is kind of meandering and I don’t know where it’s going. There are times where the title character is completely sidelined. But it ends with a spectacular battle which goes a long way toward redeeming it. I mean I don’t care who you are the last battle in the book of Boba Fett was pretty sick. And I actually liked the final battle in Mandalorian season three.
And I think part of the decision was that they didn’t really want to do a Mandalorian season so they turned it into season one of the Bo katan show. Which I enjoyed but if you were hoping for more baby Yoda and Mando, you weren’t getting a lot on that subject, until the end
    That’s my theory
Also it’s really not making a lot of sense the baby Yoda can’t talk at all. He understands what yes and no means so why can’t he say it?

The "guest star" ep was the main one I remember, although for the world building of the droid life more than anything else. Totally agree about "what SW is about", which is why I'm not as crazy about Andor as the rest of the fandom seems to be (although I do see it as being very well-made).
Didn't like the Darksaber being destroyed and was really hoping Grogu would summon the Mythosaur Up From The Depths to fight for the Mandos! Seemed like they were going for that, but maybe changed it as it may have been too much like the climax of Boba Fett, and they wanted to stay away from that, since the fans didn't like that show, maybe? Given the mustache thing, it's reasonable to assume that Moff G is just playing everyone, and may even have been lying about the Force clones, we'll just have to see, I guess.
On the whole, this didn't strike me as aggressively "bad", I think maybe we've just reached the saturation point where new SW tv just isn't a "special" thing, anymore. Not "SW fatigue", just "Ok, here's another series", if you get what I mean. Hopefully, they'll step it up a bit whatever they do with it next.

The only point the Pershing episode served was to show us the cloning stuff he was doing + the spy. We were led to believe it'd be a big grand emotional finale, being told to have out tissues ready and etc, just for it to essentially be "The Mandolorians fight the empire on Mandalore and win oh also the dark saber is broken now"
and the fact Gideon left his clones unguarded, unprotected, with the computer that ANYONE could use RIGHT NOW to destroy them because it doesn't require any verification whatsoever, is just stupid. Like he KNEW they'd be going into that room because it leads to where he is, he SAW they were in there because WE saw he had a map that showed him WHERE they were the entire time and he either decided to stop looking at the worst time or just didn't care. I kept waiting for Luke to come back and save the day again…final line is Luke saying, “I think it’s time for you to come back and finish your training, Grogu!” It’s also possible that there are too many stories all trying to coordinate, so this story got watered down, in order to avoid conflicts with the other shows that are in the works.

I think overall, the season was good but definitely could've been better. I think this season also suffers the same issue as some movies (first Spiderman trilogy, dark knight trilogy). The first one was good with so much potential. The second one was spectacular because we could see the full extent of the show/movie and even more potential for what could come of it in the future, but when 3 releases it has so much to live up to because the second one was so good that no matter what happens if one thing is slightly off or doesn't feel right it basically kills the entire possibility of being better than the second. Regardless, I'm excited for the future of this show and the return to bounty hunting and small adventures/missions throughout the galaxy. Can't wait for season 4!

That might be true. But Season 2 of The Mandalorian had so much plot points which could've been progressed in the next season which The Dark Knight for example didn't. The Dark Knight could've been the end of the Trilogy but TDKR suffered by lack of direction and character development and also felt kinda forced.
Mando season 2 may also felt like the end of the DIn & Grogu story but lead to the DIn & Bo Story (which I initially thought contains them being enemies) so John could've done that way better imo.
So I think season 3 maybe didn't have the chance to live up to season 2, but this wasn't the main problem of it being bad or "just another simple starwars story", at least for me

It looks like Grogu is being written to be the next Tarre Vizsla. He’s going the way of Mandalore. Him force sensing the mythosaur is foreshadowing this even further. If they repair the dark saber at this point, it’s probably to save it for Grogu later as it’ll be his when he leads the Mandalorians. Mandalorian is Grogu’s story.

I feel like this season had and still has a lot of huge potential, with some areas not fully explored yet such as the doctor Pershing plotline and what’s going on at the New Republic and this chaotic state of the galaxy. It’s however unfortunate the season as a whole felt very safe and disjointed with seemingly no focal point.
I hope shows like Ahsoka and the movie that got anounced about the mando verse time period will give us some answers and hopefully make more sense of it all. For now….disappointing finale but i feel there is hope.

Also, Gideon simply saying, "I was cloning myself to have the Force!" is the definition of telling instead of showing. The writers are *telling* us about a threat that never even manifests. That's anti-climactic. If that's what Gideon was doing, and this is Gideon's last stand -- his last appearance -- then we should have seen a Force-sensitive Gideon in the flesh, and we should have had a Force-powered Gideon fight against Grogu and the others. The build-up was for nothing.

Definitely agree with your assessment of the season. Mando is really the only show kinda keeping me in canon Star Wars right now, and it seems to be on the downturn. I also just turned it off on the Jack Black episode. It just was so bad.

It can easily turn things around and be great again but don't know if it will reach its heights from season 1 and 2.

I have a theory! With the rumoured controversy of Pedro Pascal behind the scenes, will Din Djarin now follow the story of the cancelled Rangers Of The New Republic show? At the same time, will Bo-Katan replace Din Djarin's original plot for the Mandalorian? It kinda makes sense, especially after the conclusion of this finale.

  • @bajes328

I think they realized after Season 2 that they had to unite the Mandalorians and get them and Grogu to Mandalore in S3 before Ahsoka's show, and everything in this season was about interpolating what happens between these things; how do we get the pieces on the board from where they are to where they need to be for Ahsoka's show? This is bad because it restricts what you can do creatively to begin with. The Jack Black episode could've been mostly scrapped and instead replaced with an episode in which Bo-Katan tries to find more Mandalorians from around the galaxy, like 3-4 clans instead of just 1. Even if it were a montage episode, it would still have been better than what we got and it would've been at least new and experimental. It could've had a cowboy western traveling vibe type of episode. They could've removed the pirate stuff and instead had most of the episodes take place directly ON mandalore such that it could've felt more focused. The good part, though, is that ultimately nothing severely canon-breaking happened and now we're on the way to Ahsoka and the Heir to the Empire storyline with the pieces hopefully where they need to be. In this sense I'm optimistic.

They make writing Star Wars seem so hard. . . I know how we got to the Mandalorian. It started as a little safe story with little filler funny, entertaining stories from one planet to the next with a familiar name and a 50 year old child that looks like Yoda. It was what the people needed, it drove them back to Star Wars, to some they deviated their attention from the sequel trilogy, quieting down some of the kerfuffle and everyone was starting to get hopeful. But, now that the people has responded well to funny little side missions, instead of taking a risk and diving further into the lore of Star Wars or even expand the Skywalker timeline, they have spread and applied that safety into all of the properties. Bad Batch, Obi Wan, Boba Fett, Andor (some times. Was very good, it was so good but it could have been perfect). They need to start going deeper and get lut of this after sequel era little side quests safety zone. They have to be quick about it and do some things that would rebirth their writing structure or they'll risk of losing the Star Wars special feel forever. They cannot go on writing everything like (Mandalorian, Bad Batch) side quest here, we follow a secondary character to a safe degree for one episode, expand the plot a bit and then we return to the main characters the next episode where we have some other people invite them into the main from that was happening around them. Sluggish parts for a little while and then we end with some vague promises and unfinished business to do in the next season. This has to change. As viewers we cannot have the ability to see that they'll building something because if they don't deliver it will be worse. It needs to be good throughout of the season and secretly built up the plot. Mid season we should start to see it coming through great moments and around the finale should reach the high levels of awesomeness.

5/10 seems fair to me. Unpopular opinion and speculation, but, I feel that Dave Filoni has been working on Ashoka mainly, especially seeing how Ashoka is coming out in August. So that means that Jon Favreau has done the bulk of the work on Mando s3 and Book of Bobba Fett on his own, and it's showing who the brains are behind this Star Wars revival. I think Jon hitched his wagon to Dave, Jon having the bigger name Dave was probably happy with it (at the start). But now, who knows, I'd be cursing now if I was Dave. Don't get me wrong, Jon has done amazing work in other movies, but there is plenty of articles out there that show how unprepared he can be (good example is Jon making up the scenes for Iron Man 1 on the day they were filming in his trailer). It's hard to admit that the dream team might not be what we think, I hate even thinking it let alone typing it, but the evidence is stacking up. Don't hate on me, I love Star Wars and I just want it to be epic for all of us, what we got from Mando s3 is rubbish fan fiction at best. Most of us can day dream a better story line than what we just witnessed.

I think cloning Maul (had it been possible) would result in catastrophe, as they would probably become too ambitious and betray one another, or at least unite against Palpatine. This is, after all, why the 'Rule of Two' was created. Palpatine knew his rise to power needed to be scrupulous, political and discreet, and not driven by force and coercion.

I loved the season. Like the other two it had missteps here and there but I think everyone missed the point. It’s no longer all about Din Jarin but the entire Mandalorian order as a whole (which now includes Grogu, Bo, and all the other factions). I also think Grogu was only meant to spend a little time with Luke in order to hone his force skills enough to defend himself before he’s fully fitted with Mando armor (and probably one day will run into an older Daisy Ridley to continue his Jedi training after Din dies)

Variety Just reported that season 4 is going to be basically the canceled Rangers of the Republic that was supposed to have Cara Dune. It will be still called the Mandalorian, but Din will be in Cara's place. The last scene in the bar was the setup for that season. This was somewhat leaked over a year ago after the Book of Boba Fett series ended. The leak stated that Season three of the Mandalorian was the "last season" of the show we knew, and that it would morph into something else in season 4. Thats why the season finale seemed like a series finale, because it was. When Gina Carno was fired, it threw everything into a mess. The 2 scenes in the Book of Boba Fett were actually supposed to be in the Mandalorian season three.
