    Now i remember why i love AIRBUS!!! This is SOooooo Antiquated, and its a shame as the Aircraft itself is loverly. Airbus A330 or Better still, the A350 walks all over this ancient Boeing !
    Never-the-less Luke, you are the man for Tutorials, and 'IF' i ever get tempted into trying this Aircraft out, i shall use this series of Tutorials to hold my hand.

      Some say antiquated, some say "keeping the pilot in control" I guess 😅 it's definitely a different style between the two isn't it. Great thing is, if you have Premium Deluxe you can try both for free!

      Not everyone wants a completely flying computer, I prefer the 737 overhead panels over the a320's anyday of the week

    Thanks a lot for this video tutorial, very detailed as all your videos, nothing left out.
    I'm not sure if you have come across this issue I'm having on the 787-10, you have in fact got a few things straight for me in the past. I believe the problem is related to the autopilot in some way so here goes.
    Flight plan created in Simbrief and imported directly into FMC. Details imported into the EFB and v-speeds calculated. My main test flight has been EGCC/EGPH. Flight level selected is FL200 and ILS approach. Takeoff none event full but the plain levels off at FL100 and won't climb any further by normal means. Disconnect the A/P and climb to FL200. When I get to TOD I select 5000ft and the aircraft starts descending. When it gets to 10000ft, it levels off. So, disconnect the A/P and descend manually down to 5000ft and reconnect A/P. When I get a bit closer, I select 3000ft and hit level change. From here all works fine, select LOC and then App and aircraft flies the approach and lands as it should.
    No other plane of mine displays this behavior and I have got several Boeing and Airbus that I fly regularly but the 787 has always been a favorite of mine, especially one of the Boeing ones.
    I'd love to hear from you if you have an idea. BTW, when I got the latest update, I cleared everything out and started from scratch and cleared all of the "Heavy mod" out to prevent any interference from that.

    Great tutorial! I kinda understand it and as someone who’s never gotten any training and DEFINITELY never understood any of it, it kinda makes me happy. The only problem is that I kinda play on Xbox😅. Anyway great tutorial!

      @@captcav767 I mentioned it as a means to work through for anyone wishing to use them. Similarly I cover them in all live streams in the jet - all episodes are designed to be used with each other

    I've only recently re-installed MS Flight Simulator. I had a crappy computer, but finally got around to building a beast. 4090 paired with a 13900K cpu. I set it up with the Oculus Quest 2, and I am in love with this game. I'm going to fly the shit out of the 787. It's my favorite airplane. I love that this exists, I'm going to lose many hours in this simulator.

      @@Vanikmobile you're welcome. It's a bit full on learning a new aircraft in the sim and it's not something we can do and pause bits as we go through either so we just have to manage the flow - take your time going through the video and keep using it to nail it and you'll be fine 🙂

    1 thing that confuse me a little is that Kílós or Líters! in my mind all liquit like Fuel is messured in LITERS (Pounds or Gallons in the USA) but when it comes to PAX then we use term Kilograms (Pounds and Gallons in the USA)
    Well I just notest it when you began to setting the Weigth and Ballance that you use and naturally began on the Fuel and you set it into the KG section instead of LITERS! (P.S. when I fly Boeing or American aircrafts I always switch over to LBS or Gallons)

    great video! just a couple FYIs... when setting up MCP after all takeoff data is set actual V2, (not V2+10!) in the SPD window, setting +10 would cause problems in a engine failure situation...
    Also, it is okay (and normal per Boeing and my airline at least) to set "AUTO" on the bank selector, setting 25 can also get you in trouble in an engine out. Also, this is typically when you select LNAV and VNAV. Don't forget to check TAKEOFF page 2/2 for thrust red and accel altitudes, set per your departure noise abatement (NADP 1 or NADP 2) and engine out proc. (usually 1000')

      Hi! Thanks for your input - the V2+10 bit is an overlap from previously where it wouldn't work itself so I began setting it on the MCP instead... As for the bank angle limiters, I did mention it in the video but currently there is a rather large issue with it specifically over-banking when set to Auto hence my suggestion to use 25-30° manually at least until that bug is fixed 🙂

      @@stevew8614 did V2 set yesterday though and that worked pretty well, and in the latest update it seems that the overbank doesn't happen in Auto much anymore either which is also promising 🙂

    I cannot for the life of me figure out why my plane is using thrust reduction as soon as the main gear leaves the ground. I feel like ive done everything verbatim (even your flight) from your video just to try to prevent this but no matter what, the thrust reduces to the climb profile as soon as I leave the ground. Do you have any suggestions?

    I am new to 787 but i have a lot of experience with PMDG 737-600. Two questions: 1. How can i connect GPU when available? Im 737 I have to use MCU 2. How can I really start cold and dark? Most switches are turned on and I have nothing to do. :(
    And what is the APU for here or will this function just come in the future?

    Thank you so much for the informative video. This is exactly what was needed. Quick question...What is the proper format to use when you are entering your descent speed restrictions after you enter your descent forecast winds? Normally I put 250/10000 but for some reason it says format error.

      As it's shown in the video for this you'll want the Alt first, enter it on its own, then the winds after and the winds would Compass Bearing then Strength like 180/18
      Edit - saw you asked about speeds - if it's the standard option in VNAV descent then just leave it (I think it's set to 240/10000 by default). If you need specifics then check the speed constraints in the legs page for each waypoint

      It is a different plane I believe. So it is in its own type of plane

      Yeah get it set and then it's at the takeoff setting it needs to be at - we'll sort that in Episode 2 from memory :) then it'll auto-trim during takeoff and climb for you

    Hi, I have a problem since the IRS start in the ON position and they are not clickable, and that causes the airplane not to align or whatsoever; nontheless, in this tutorial its evident that that switch is clickable. Is there anything I am missing? Thanks

      He's using the Kuro 787 mod. You are probably using Asobo's default which is not very good

    Kind of confused on the route input, I have a flight plan but I’m unsure whether to put the code thing (for example UMLAT) in via or the to section. Some help would be much appreciated. 👍
    P.S I realised this is a pretty terrible explanation of my problem so a better way of putting it may be I have a code from the flight plane (for example UMLAT) and I don’t know wether it is an airway or a vector way point.

      Any waypoints like UMLAT are waypoints and if you are directly flying to it, you insert it as a Direct in the plan (leave via blank)... Always are different and will be e.g. T29 or UL314 or V14 and those go in VIA for airways insertion

      You probably still have the Salty 747 or Heavy Division 787 installed... Check their FAQs
