I knew of Manchester Orchestra when it was just Andy Hull playing shows. And you know what, I'm LOVING the fact that they are finally getting the respect and notice they deserve. Andy Hull was great then, this album was amazing, and Manchester Orchestra continues to get better. Screw you if you're so quick to fall off b/c they get respect and notice! MO until I die, keep living the dream guys!
Manchester Orchestra is about Andy Hull, Robert McDowell, Chris Freeman, Jonathan Corley and Tim Very.. and former members. We are just lucky enough they share it with us. To them it's not about blowing up the music scene, it's about playing some damn good music and knowing they own it. I love this song and I'm proud to say I've experienced it.
this was the first song i heard by them. every song that i heard, every one that they have played, i have fallen in love with. thank god for this band. they brought me through tough times.
I don't mean to sound like a sappy little teenager, but ever since I started listening to Manchester Orchestra, they have became my favorite band, play pretty much throughout the day, and just genuinely make me feel happy.
i cant understand why manchester orchestra hasnt made it big yet.... but i kinda like it because i feel like im the only one that knows how good they really are
I listen to this song at least once a month it reminds me a time in my life when I use to complain about small things. When small things weren't going my way. I cried because I did not get the job i really wanted, I was mad because that stupid guy on ebay shipped my xbox game late so I had to wait. I use to get mad when restaurants mess up my order. Then you look at incidents like Colorado and how others are so poor and unfortunate. I no longer get mad at little things in life.
Crazy! I just found out about Two Gallants today. Bought the new LP within twenty minutes of that discovery. And Deer Tick, on their tour bus, have the very appropriate sticker "God Bless Deer Tick".
These pics must be from a few years ago because Andy's looking pretty skinny compared to now haha...I think it was about three years ago when my friends and I first saw them live in Baltimore -- they rocked that shit and now look at them! I saw them the other day in Bmore and this was the last song he played which was about 8 minutes long and Andy made everyone's heart stop for every second of it...amazing
i think its interesting that he adds God in his work.... shows that he doesnt care if people complain or not... its his master piece and his own work of art
this is my all time favorite song. crazy. did you know the lead singer smokes 4 packs of cigarettes before he even sets foot in the studio? crazy stuff
@forthestars i'm sorry for your loss. i lost my husband to the same thing. this song, band, is good for these kinds of emotions. i hope it gets easier for you with time. peace.
yeah domestica is amazing as well the martyr is one of my favorite songs, but that cello on the ugly organ is awesome and songs like driftwood and some red handed sleight of hand ... but both are epic in their own ways
Haha when I saw these guys live the keyboard was up really loud and drowned out the other instruments and the keyboard player kept chuckling to himself.
Reminds me of a conversation I had with my ex. I told her i wanted her to be happy with the lord, and i wanted her to love God with all her heart. But she went and left me single again.
He's saying "God where have you been?" Live they occasionally sing it as "Child, my child, where have you been?" and "Father, Son, and Ghost! Where have you been?"
Why as men do we always want to bring God into the discusion and start an argument??? Why not just close yours eyes and let a master composer's incredible music take you on a journey in your mind.....as good music should!
It amazes me how many years I have listened to this band, and never once does their stuff get old. So much power and heart in their music!
most underrated band of all time
Watching them perform this song live is like religious experience.
I have had such a similar experience! My friend posted that they are playing close to us so I gave them a go.. Great band!

Since i found this song last week, i have not gone a day without listening to it 10-20 times a day. i cant stop.
Me too. It's eerie how much emotion is packed into this song. Reminds me of fall-all the different colors on one lone tree, crisp, and dry

I sow them with brand new in portland and it was so sweet
Man Orch, easily. I'm Like A Virgin Losing A Child is one of the best albums I own, next to the rest of Andy Hull's work.
@jostoniac2 i keep coming back to this song for that homely feel it gives me its massive, emotion!!
Haha when I saw these guys live the keyboard was up really loud and drowned out the other instruments and the keyboard player kept chuckling to himself.

you'd think they'd bust a vein, all that awesome.
He's saying "God where have you been?"
Live they occasionally sing it as "Child, my child, where have you been?" and "Father, Son, and Ghost! Where have you been?"
Because God should be brought into everything we do and say, hear and see.
thank you very much
for a bunch of young guns they got a pretty cohesive sound, this tune is pure emotion !
Amazing..
he says "God my God where have you been" and "joy my joy". it changes when they're live. but he says both in the recorded version too i think.

Actually it's quite better that people listent to this awesome music of pure soul and heart instead of crap music... Just saying.
Keep giving up on music and saying the era of great music is over yet I keep finding badass band, so I guess not all is lost
Lemmme see here. . . 500,000 views. YEP. They're popular.
