    Wait a minute, sentenced to life in prison for killing a 14 year old, but allowed to go Christmas shopping unsupervised, but when prison officials returned to pick him up he was gone. It was like he disappeared into thin air, what a shocker!

      This kind of thing was common in the 70's, giving furloughs to convicts like this due to good behavior. It came to an end when a convict on a furlough killed a man and raped his girlfriend in Massachusetts in the early 80s.

      We have work or study release programs here in Australia but it's nigh on impossible to get into one if you've been convicted of any sort of violent crime and they're usually only done when the prisoner is not too far away from their release date. They can be quite successful in helping someone fit back in when they're released but to give any sort of release, supervised or not, to someone who'd committed a violent crime, especially murder, is just crazy.

      I wonder how much the CO’s were paid by inmate to release him? Long criminal record, Death Row for brutality killing a young beautiful child receives good behavior rewards 🤔🤔
      I wonder if the FBI looked into the CO’s background and future spending habits? After all pastors have access to quite a bit of money from tithings. It’s not uncommon for local businesses to donate large amounts.

      Some people feel that the convict has been rehabilitated so it would be unfair to jail the now-good person. It also demonstrates forgiveness. Of course, it wasn't their daughter who had been killed, and this makes forgiveness easier.

      @@MrTruckerf only thing is that the man that killed the 14-year-old went from death row to unsupervised visits in such a short span of time? How can you rehabilitate someone in such a short amount of time?
      It still doesn't seem right that someone who takes the life of another deserves a second chance at life when they don't. Especially a girl whose life hasn't even really begun. It sometimes seems they don't take the victims family into consideration, ya know? It's hard to forgive a man or any person that takes a child away.

It was the first time I heard him say he was sorry about it. He shot me in the head. I am just one in a line of women he has abused but I did get the worst of it. They let him leave the state after making bail and he put a girl in the hospital after me before he was set to go to trial. I sincerely hope he stays on the path he claims he plans to stay on. However, after learning about his track record, I have a hard time believing it. It scares me.

      It's become a cliche in movies, a cop threatens to kill an inmate and plans to say the inmate tried to escape. I'm sure this has actually happened at least few times in the last 100 years.

    • @BrettonFerguson
      @BrettonFerguson 5 лет назад +15

      Any time a prisoner is allowed out of a prison, it is called a Furlough. I've heard of this for funerals but never to go shopping at the mall. More importantly the law states you have to be with a police escort at all times. A cop goes with you everywhere. They aren't allowed to drop you off or even let you out of their sight. If you have to pee, the cop goes in the bathroom with you and stands there while you pee. In Michigan you can only get Furloughs for funerals of immediate family members, you have to pay the cops salary for the day, you are handcuffed the entire time, and the cop stands right next to you the entire time. You can't even go to the other side of the room without the cop. They either killed him, he bribed the cop to leave him alone at the mall, or the cop was just lazy and stupid.

    There was so much information that was not shared in this video about Lester, first of all after he escaped he travelled to Michigan then he took a bus to California. He stayed there for a while and there were even pictures of him in California on the run from the marshals. He used the alias Victor Young. In the mid 1990s Lester fled California because his friend told him the law enforcement were looking for him, he fled to Alabama then worked as a janitor in a hospital. He eventually left the hospital job then he was never tracked again after that.
