I’ve been going to PA Ren Faire since I was 12. While I still like to go, I will say that the newest owners have really shifted the focus towards an alcohol filled theme park. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good drink, but they’ve done away with a lot of really charming features. There used to be a huge cast of NPCs that would interact with guests all over the shire, Renaissance style musicians, and more shows that were scripted and choreographed to fit in the the overarching story for the day. I’m glad you and your friends had a great time, but I wish you could have seen it several years ago. ❤ My spouse and I are going to try MD and maybe NY next year. I’m looking forward to seeing what they are like.
It was definitely a much stranger Ren Faire than I'm used to, but I will say that they still had a LOT of scripted shows! Unfortunately everyone wanted to run around and do things so it was hard to sit for a show, but I did catch glimpses of them as we were walking and they are by far still the most choreographed Faire shows I've ever seen. It did feel very almost clinical for a Faire, though... I'm used to dirt paths and no seats and being harangued by merchants and artists and NPCs. I departed feeling weirdly clean and detached and not in a good way. I hope you enjoy MDRF!! I do love it much more honestly
My favorite part was getting to go and adventure with you! Sad that the Taming of the Shrews performance was lack luster as I know you were looking forward to it and the concept, if done well, would be great

I went there when I lived there. It was fun. Hard to get used to the asphalt.
It’s definitely a weird vibe for a Faire! I need more dust and tree roots to make it feel right 😂😂😂

I was also expecting Taming of the Shrew to be an actual drag show and wasn’t as into it as I wanted to be
