I LOVE the Apothecary look! I have a tall one in my living room. Now I'm trying to figure where I could put one like this. It looks great. The Vaseline tip is fantastic. This must be a fairly old video as you're not using DIY. But you were already going strong. I love seeing the progress of your success. You deserve every bit of it.
Great hints for layered effects that I haven’t picked up on other channels. Im in the process of sanding old fence boards that I want to put of the sides of my kitchen island. I can use these wonderful hints.
oh my gosh i could kiss you!!! ive been searching videos for weeks trying to fins this EXACT look for my kitchen cabinets. I didnt know if i carefully painted the blue on the white after, or painted it on before and then sanded it. you are my life saver thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!
I can't believe I missed this video! I am getting ready to do this on a piece so I'm so excited to watch this right beforehand!! This was exactly how I wanted it to turn out and actually the colors that I'm using are very similar! This is beautiful!!💕
Once again, another great video-I am trying the chipped look now-using elmers glue I have watched SOOO many videos and cannot get it right. Would you consider doing a step by step video so the paint turns out with random chips big and small. How to apply glue and then how to apply paint? Thank you-I am LOVING your channel! I have been watching your videos for a few hours.
LOVE YOUR STYLE !! Do your neighbors get upset about all the painting? My neighborhood would complain we have alot of rules thank god I have a cement slab (kids basketball court) in my backyard.Thank you for all your great ideas!! Goodbye from San Antonio !
LOVE this technique and LOVE your videos! I am finding that the vaseline leaves an oily patch on the paint after I sand it off for the chippy look. Any thoughts on how to avoid/fix this?
What do suggest to paint a metal cabinet with tons of small cubbies I'm going to use it for my craft room to store supplies🙂And I love the dresser so beautiful
This is the closest thing I can find that I am wanting to do! Gray base paint while and scuff the edges of it to give it a light vintage look. Would I still need to stain my furniture if my furniture is light? Really just want gray to pop through so I’m hoping just the chalk paint would work
Meagan Tanner you don’t have to. That’s just what I used. You could use minwax or brown paint or even spray paint. The goal is tort the contrast in colors. 👍
Hi Jami, I have a question I am building a new house & would love to do some kind of paint treatment on my existing pantry door to make it look old, can this be done & have you ever painted a NEW raised panel door to look old ? Maybe something with blue gray with hints of green ... Thanks, just thought I'd ask you all , you guys are paint treatment geniuses ...
Cassidy Brown it's the round Zibra brush. I just checked it's not there. I am having my assistant add it. I will let you know as soon as I get it up there
Great! I didn't think I was crazy lol. I'll be buying as soon as it's up!❤️ I watch every one of your videos! I'm from Alabama and yard selling on the weekends is what I live for! I'm big on vintage and junkin'! Love love love the videos!
Since we are going to use chalk paint does it matter if the finish is still on the dresser before painting as long as we clean it well..if we plan on doing the chippy paint? Or do we need to sand it all the way down? Will this technique work even if we are dealing with a dresser that isn't all wood?
I would lightly sand it if it is a shiny/gloss finish or if you are dealing with a veneer type finish. You don't need to sand it down to the bare wood, just rough it up a little so The paint has something to hold on to.
Actually, I ordered some milk paint from you and I’m working on a fireplace -the wood part of the white surround that I topped with shiplap. Its all white and not distressed -yet. I think I’m going to latex paint in charcoal first as my under color. I have some already, and it’s one of the colors in my pebbles on another part of the fireplace surround. So is this right: ? paint with the latex under color, then lacquer, then milk paint (flour sack - with or without super bond?)) (can I use a smooth roller to paint on the milk paint?) Dry, sand off the chippies, then wax? Can I also use Vaseline resist in places or not necessary? Sorry for all the questions. I don’t want to mess it up. I did the surround myselfTook me forever. I did the whole wall from drywall to the finish. Looks great and beachie but no distress. Needs distress. !!!
That would work, just know if you go to distress latex if you sand it or it gets hot it can gum up or ball up on you instead of sanding off. I recommend wet distress if you’re using latex underneath.
Thank you so much! So I also have some black gel stain around here. I’ll use it for the base instead. Would I need to lacquer before milk paint for chippies? Sorry to keep going with this. Lol
We use 2-3 coats on the sides, front of pieces depending on how heavy the use will be on the specific piece and 4-5 coats on things like table tops. We use polyacrylic in satin.
So this is the technique I can use to finish out all my annie sloan chalk paint to get a chippy look? Im trying to use up all I have before purchasing milk paint.
With stripes you always want to take the tape off before it dries completely and wait a few days before you put tape on paint. It can be SU frustrating
That is what we call the "Disneyland Technique"... overly exaggerated and nothing like genuine age and wear. In effect, a cartoon. Good for film and stage.
the Vaseline makes that area so that the paint doesn't stick. Since she sprayed the paint on, the paint went onto that area- and dried-- yet when she sanded- the white paint came off very easily where the Vaseline had been applied. Just a little goes a long way with the Vaseline...just to give a lite coating . I'd make a "test" on a scrape so you can understand the technique. Hope that helps....
Thanks for your educational experience and resources and sharing your different steps very helpful information God-bless.

ETHAN BUTIKOFER thanks
Beautiful. Awesome work!! Your inspiring me to try this!
It's such a fun technique.
Would you suggest a different paint combination now a couple of years later? If so what kind and colors? Do you still use the Vaseline technique?
Can you rub an old candle on there instead of petroleum jelly? I've that with other paints before. Wondering if it would work here.
Love this technique
Beautiful 👍🏻 I love it 😘 I have to give this a try.. Thank you for sharing..
Your welcome
That's gorgeous!
Thank you!
I'm loving this. Was wondering if enamel paint would achieve something similar? What would be best to seal it?
fe eusebio I would think it could be similar but I am not sure since its not a product I use. I would try it on a test board and see
+Jami Ray Vintage thanks thanks! I would love to use the products you use only if it's available out here. :( but Thanks Jami!
Love it!❤️
I love the way this turned out! Could you share what you picked this for and what price you will sell it for?

جميل جدا .. شكرا على المشاركة
Thanks for watching!! قصي النسور
Awesome job! It turned out beautiful! I don’t have a sprayer. Do I have to use one to ensure I don’t screw up the petroleum jelly?
You can brush it on. Just don’t brush too hard and wipe the petroleum jelly off.
love it. thank you for sharing
Candice Wells thanks for shopping!!
Did you spray the final coat using chalk paint? I was not aware you could spray it. Looks beautiful! Thank you
Yes we did, here is a video on how we spray it.
ruclips.net/video/Xr8VAfQnzis/видео.html
It turned out amazing! Did you use a oil based stain, and oil based polyurethane? Thanks
The Stain we used is Oil Based, The polyurethane is water based
What white paint do you normally use for chippy white paint?
What do suggest to paint a metal cabinet with tons of small cubbies I'm going to use it for my craft room to store supplies🙂And I love the dresser so beautiful
I’d probably use Sweet Pickins Milk Paint with extrabond. Colors and extrabond can be found in this link.

Brittany Smith me too!! I was thinking of putting a little gray and a similar Dixie Bell Blue color. And wondering what the top coat is?
Wow! Love that.
Thanks so much!!
Is beautiful!!!
vanessa swaringim thanks!!
That was way cool!
love it ! ❤ thanks for sharing.😘
S.Coronado your welcome!! Thanks for watching
Do you have to wash the Vaseline off before you seal it?
Do you have to use gel stain to get this desired effect or can you use regular stain, minwax for example?
Meagan Tanner you don’t have to. That’s just what I used. You could use minwax or brown paint or even spray paint. The goal is tort the contrast in colors. 👍
Thanks! I’m trying to learn this! Can you roller paint instead of spray?
You can!
Jami Ray Vintage thanks! Please see next msg.

Cassidy Brown I sell them on my website www.jamirayvintage.com
Jami Ray Vintage I saw a big round stain brush! is that the same one you are using?
Cassidy Brown it's the round Zibra brush. I just checked it's not there. I am having my assistant add it. I will let you know as soon as I get it up there

Thank you!
how many coats of polycrylic do you usually use?...and do you use the matte sheen polycrylic?
We use 2-3 coats on the sides, front of pieces depending on how heavy the use will be on the specific piece and 4-5 coats on things like table tops. We use polyacrylic in satin.
Do you think this would work with red, black and white
Sure do!
Hello there. I dont have vaseline to put between the two coat, do you have a solution for me ? Thank you from France :)
Paste Wax will resist the paint
Finally find vaseline. Hope this will be amazing :) thank a lot

How do you get Vaseline off ?
Once you paint over it and distress back the resist areas it comes off with the sanding.
nice job!!! I tried to paint stripes on my daughter's dresser and ended up taking off more than the stripes :-(
With stripes you always want to take the tape off before it dries completely and wait a few days before you put tape on paint. It can be SU frustrating
Good advice. I just painted black over the whole thing, stripe bumps and all
you need new furniture. lol. joke
you did a very good job.
