I've always crushed water bottles since they store well, I guess that's out of the question now...

I've always crushed them also when I was done. So I probably need to taper my ways.

Yeah, I read the news article about the plastic in the water bottles as well and was a little shocked. We rarely use those plastic bottles however.
Is there a correlation between dementia, kidney disease, etc? I have no clue, but I remember when science said eggs and coffee weren’t good for you but now they are okay, lol.
I usually always question science, to an extent, because you don’t always know who founds it and what is the purpose of the study. Kind of like the big tobacco companies and did and Big Pharma, to an extent.
Thank you for the update Dan.

I grew up using Nalgene water bottles for camping & hiking. This was before ultralight backpacking, now my
serious backpacking days are behind me. Because of this I still use the same Nalgene bottles, I would think
the micro-plastics would have been long flushed out in less the inter wall is shedding pieces. Are you aware
of any studies on this subject. I like the plastic bottles because they hold up to freezing if not filled full where
metal and glass don’t fair as well. (It can get below freezing even in the summer in the Colorado mountains.)

Allegedly jury still out however I totally agree and use my Nalgene every day still.

Thanks for covering this Dan! I've used a stainless thermos for over a decade but the quality local Spring water I've been drinking is packaged in plastic jugs. Now I hear a lot of well known water filters themselves release plastic into water. Don't know if you know of Raymon Grace, he's in the SW mountains of VA and has done some interesting work with water. raymon grace foundation
