Hey, quick comment here. There's a few things you might want to know. I have no right to blame you for the conclusions you went to, as in fact they were pretty accurate for the few tracks you got to comment on in this video. However, one thing you should probably realise is that the fact that when you say the music is just out of nowhere and surprising and you kind of don't know why it ends up where it does, it's most likely intentional. Give them a listen if you want. Of course, when he makes more mainstream genres, this unpredic tability of his doesn't serve him well due to the fact that he probably doesn't retain as much of an audience from them as he could - so I can understand your point especially in songs like Light it Up or Exit this Earth's Atomosphere. In fact, a lot of his music regularly goes way above what you have listened to here, reaching up to (I think) 335BPM in Xronial Xero, so the usual predictability might not be the way to go, as that's rarely a tempo to bang your head to, and it might be wise to instead settle on experimenting and trying out different concepts to surprise the listener. I'm pretty convinced this is what keeps Camellia's avid fanbase dedicated, in fact. Personally, what makes me enjoy his music so much is the composition primarily. He seems to be taking immense pleasure in spitting at I V vi IV with it, while keeping it relatively simple most of the time. Another point is that I believe his production might be lacking due to the ridiculous speed at which the guy works. A little surprised that you didn’t get more song recommendations from Blackmagik blazing and Xronial Xero, two of his much more recent albums. The majority of the ones that you listened to here were more bigger tracks in the rythm game community and I don’t think a great representation of camellia as an arist currently. I would have recommended tracks such as looking for the edge of ground, nacreous snowmelt, killerbeast, Z:irnitra, etc. all much more recent songs of his. Your review of the songs you heard were absolutely correct, but I feel you could have gotten a better choice of songs to listen to. edit: spelling errors
Agreed, all of the recommended songs were old enough to be judged in today's perspective (but still, they're sick tunes). His latest releases are fire as hell
I soooooooo much agree with you, soooo many things missed here, but still. It's a great honour that someone have reacted to Camellia, even if he's not the mainstream type of artist, and it's still so satisfying to know that these videos finally start to exist ! REACTIONS TO CAMELLIA, YEEEEEEEEEEEEES
Surprised he only listened to Nasty Nasty Spell. imo it's the worst song in yhe album. (Still a good song though. The entire Black Majic Blazing album is amazing)
I think it’s really really difficult to pick just 5 camellia tracks as examples. His discography is so large and varied that if you asked a bunch of camellia fans what their favorite songs of his were, you’d almost certainly get wildly different answers from each of them. Would love to see you revisit him someday, but either way I loved hearing your thoughts on his work all the same! Differing perspectives is cool. :)
Also, I really love the chaotic and disorganized nature of his music personally, but I can also see where you’re coming from. It’s definitely a matter of preference.
I feel like these songs are best enjoyed through things like Rhythm games. It really tells you what you're supposed to be focusing on. Hearing the songs without any context is a little jarring. They're just so high energy, that it's hard to keep track of what you're supposed to pay attention to.
Definitely. Songs with really high energy levels are sometimes better enjoyed when doing something intense with them, like playing a rhythm game for example or running or something like that.
Good choices, but I would already request a second part, there is SOOO MUCH camellia out there. - Nightmare City - Madd Bleep - Wolves standing towards enemies - Megalovania Remix - Nacreous Snowmelt Those would have been my 5 picks and none of them are in the video xD but that was expected tbh, he has sooo much music and also genres
My Picks here too! -Nightmare City - [BLEED BLOOD] - #1f1e33 - Wolves Standing towards Enemies - Secret Boss | (This one really Fire i swear) × (Not a song but you guys insert some SDVX Tracks/VIP Albums here there are tons of Gold)
Jeez, there are about +500 of his song and you guys should have picked the best of him.Like, where is Crystallized,Feelin Sky (200 step remix),Epimerization,Z:Irnitra,NIGHTMARE CITY,Nacreous Snowmelt,Exit this earth's atomosphere(200 step remix),The King of Lion and etc?
The biggest thing about this is that Camellia purposefully makes their music messy in some parts but insanely massive and perfect at the high points, another thing is a lot of these tunes are older, some even being years old, along with the fact that camellia is made to be a mesh of massive amounts of genres all mashed together, it’s just a artist that is made to sound different and rough.
Hello! Try wearing headphones next time-- a lot is lost without them! Your mixing comments sound like an issue with your speakers based on the feedback your mic is giving...
It's a cardioid. The speaker is behind the mic. Not a valid concern. Also did you really suggest headphones when he most likely owns very good speakers? Edm sounds better on speakers especially if it's good monitors. Anyway cheers.
Ive been a fan for really long time and i have like 30 ish absolute faves that i will never get bored of, which is like 1/5 something of his whole discorgraphy and the rest makes my head hurts. his music feels like hanging out with a friend thats very ambitious, awesome, full of potential and will keep trying to get better, but most of the time they’re too much to handle but u still always reminded that they’re so fcking wonderful. sometimes i revisit tracks that didnt make it to me the first few listens and then they hit different
Camellias music takes time to adjust to. I find most of his songs better on the second or third listen. Though taking each song apart and picking details that don’t shine so bright is definitely a good way to understand the music.
As someone whose one of all time favorite pieces of music is Xronial Xero by Camellia (yes, that 335bpm shatterer of ears and brains), it was surely interesting to hear these songs are all over the place! I suppose rhythm gaming since 2005 has skewed the way I hear music.
Tl;dr: this music is made for pain and you need the video games to experience it The thing about camellia music is that most of it is found in rhythm games, which add a whole new level of adrenaline and intensity, and when the song might seem quieter, like the second part of light it up, is that the game is much harder at that point, so there's no need to blow out your ears
A nice prank would be to make someone to listen to Kobaryo and all his aliases (without telling) and then just tell them that all of this is just one dude. Every time Camellia is mentioned I can't help but also think about other cool guys out there.
I like camellia cause of Rhythm games so my perspectives are different when listening to music like this instead of standalone like how you do it. My way, I judge the music in the way how it goes when it is charted in the rhythm games I play tho
@bigkusa 53 its hard to choose a top 1 fav track haha but probably these: Enantiomorphs, Nacreous Snowmelt, Crystallized, and may be Exit this earth or either Beyond the Geostationary orbit level. all of his songs are great xd
Experiencing Camellia in rythm games I think its mainly the the best thing. especially beat saber... Feeling the music 1 time in vr is the thing that got me to listening to his tracks, - Ghost is one of my favs there. (one of my like 20 favs out of his some 100 songs)
Camellia makes their own type of music , Camellia is a genre , yes it may be chaotic but this is their goal , it needs to be so messy . i do understand your opinion BUT this is not a music creator you can put in a category . They do not focus on what everyone else does , I mean- I am not saying that this is the most amazing and perfect artist , even tho they're very close to that title in my own opinion . They are being original , and to be honest they just make music so people can shit themselves when playing Osu! ( not only Osu! but you get me ) . Each of the songs you listened to are a bit different , one was more "dreamy" one was giving some kind of "Halloween" vibe , and in case of Exit This Earth's Atmosphere it was more of a energetic vibe , very unique . And that's something that only Camellia did so far , so we cannot really compare him to .. any one ? ( It would be dumb to compare Camellia to t+pazolite or Roughsketch for example ) . Great video btw , I just wanted to give my pov
This video is really well done actually. As an amateur music producer inspired a lot by his stuff, it's good to finally hear what you see as flaws in his tracks. Because everything has flaws but everyone keeps praising his tracks like they're literally perfect. It's just a good feeling I guess that even Came that everyone praises also makes mistakes. Keep it up!
dude, if you thought ghost was too much, then camellia's Halloween sevenplus remix is like camellia on every type of drug possible in the western world B)
For me the reason why I put camellia above others is that even though the production isn't the greatest the variety and creativity always entertains me
glad one of the ones that were chosen was light it up definitely one of the best imo ive been listening for a while since is song was in a gd level and i love it
Great video :) Camellia uses a very wide range of styles in his music and there's way more to discover out there, this is only a small bit of his great career. His music goes all the way from Classical to Hardstyle, and every single track has its own spirit. He has made over 20 albums in the past 10 years so you'll have plenty of choice for different styles, you'll find pretty much every single electro style you can think of. I would recommend listening to d:For the Delta, #1f1e33, Nightmare City (or the whole Blackmagik Blazing album), and his album Cyphisonia E.P. which is one of my favorites; it's so beautiful and emotional. Planet//Shaper, heart of android and Crystallized are extremely good as well
im still here even after 2021, would love to see you do remixes and 'correct' the flaws you mentioned in the video because it might be insightful to alot of people (free video idea too i guess?)
Where's Nanahira? I'm disappointed in this community. The callabs with camellia and Nanahira are definitely some of the best productions I've ever heard, or maybe it's just because I'm a *_f^cking weeb_*
@@Mioscape Well, because camellia makes music for rhythm games. They have different structure and are focusing on different things than "mainstream" bass music/edm
Imagine how bad this guy would hate Z:IrNiTrA Edit: he even said, "So much potential here if it was a bit more refined and concentrated." Again, he would hate Z:IrNiTRa
Z: irnitra is, for me, the best synthesized composition ever made (the least of all I've heard in my life). It is unbeatable, except for its mix, but the sound quality is secondary to the artistic cohesion. I would be very funny if what you say happened.
It's so weird seeing how much J-Core has cracked into a more global and popular light, I don't just have to buy CD's from sketchy Tokyo bookstore basements any more
I really wish his Tera I/O album had released by the time this video was out, I would love to see you react to love Fly Wit Me and the title track Tera I/O, those are two of my favorites
There are some things about how Camellia mixes his tracks that aren't really healthy (e.g. mixing at +3db). So it's kinda natural that you don't hear much of percussion and stuff you normally would've heard Great reaction btw, I was really surprised that you were actually breaking down some things and actually critiquing. It's a rare find among reaction videos (from what I've experienced)
Ghost isn't Camellia's best track but like super popular thanks to Beat Saber. It's perfect for Beat Saber as a hard track because of the ridiculous "energy" as you said and the ambitious switches. It's fast and unhinged, maybe not the best for a song, perfect for an insanely hard track. Edit: also why tf was Exit this Earth's Atmosphere picked the most 😭😭

Just found this vid, and I respect your opinion honestly. I'm not a music composer at all, and I'm not a good critic or reviewer at all. But to drop my own opinion, all of the things that you criticized about Camellia's music are the exact things I love. I love Camellia's clutteriness, his uniqueness, the way he gives the unexpected drops, and how he doesn't use percussion and snare as much as other producers. I'm not trying to go against your critiques, and I love the fact that people are reacting to Camellia (he's really underrated). Idk what got me to write this reply, but I felt like doing it and just wanted my opinion to be known I guess. Out of all the electronic music I've heard, which I can't really name every composer and artist, I just love Camellia the most out of anyone along with T+Pazolite. Camellia just has so many things and quirks in his music that I absolutely love. This last opinion of mine is probably out of place with the complete reply but It kind of seems like your tastes are just comparisons to a lot of other artists under genres that seem pretty similar no matter where you go, not that that's a bad thing at all. Well, I'm pretty sure this reply probably has some dumb stuff, saying it because I don't really think I'm a good critic at all. Lmao. Edit: idk if I had to use the word producer or composer, lmao.

@cytrackofficial Lol geometry dash is not even a rhythm game
I soooooooo much agree with you, soooo many things missed here, but still. It's a great honour that someone have reacted to Camellia, even if he's not the mainstream type of artist, and it's still so satisfying to know that these videos finally start to exist ! REACTIONS TO CAMELLIA, YEEEEEEEEEEEEES
Surprised he only listened to Nasty Nasty Spell. imo it's the worst song in yhe album. (Still a good song though. The entire Black Majic Blazing album is amazing)
@cytrackofficial the gd community is trash, i agree

- Wolves standing towards enemies
- Megalovania Remix
- Nacreous Snowmelt

Machinegun Psystyle, Megalovania remix, Rude Buster remix
Pretty much agree with most of the things said here. Production aside, his tracks are epic IMO. Thanks for the video!
Anyway cheers.
every time it skipped around i was like “let him finish 😔”
The more I listen the more little details I find and I love it
The first Camellia experience is better with headphones
Funny, Ghost and Earth's Atmosphere are both my favorites from Camellia, I just love the more chaotic energy of them, I love chaotic intense music.
I love his rude buster remix
haha you love chaotic intense music, same! literally how i describe my music taste to anyone
5:14 yea its from his solo album "Heart of Android"
Highly recommend to check it out.
I feel his work is best when you play it on beat saber. It's something to feel physically.
I'm amazed Crystalized wasn't one of them.
I love ghost to death. Both the song itself and in Beat Saber.
@@taze1856 We Could Use More Machinegun Psystyle is my favorite along with Night Raid With A Dragon
Newspapers for magicians is my favourite tbh
As someone whose one of all time favorite pieces of music is Xronial Xero by Camellia (yes, that 335bpm shatterer of ears and brains), it was surely interesting to hear these songs are all over the place! I suppose rhythm gaming since 2005 has skewed the way I hear music.
Alone intelligence is good as well
Tl;dr: this music is made for pain and you need the video games to experience it
The thing about camellia music is that most of it is found in rhythm games, which add a whole new level of adrenaline and intensity, and when the song might seem quieter, like the second part of light it up, is that the game is much harder at that point, so there's no need to blow out your ears
A nice prank would be to make someone to listen to Kobaryo and all his aliases (without telling) and then just tell them that all of this is just one dude. Every time Camellia is mentioned I can't help but also think about other cool guys out there.
Nawty: There's so much going on, so many different aproaches, the prodution not quite on point.

Aw ghost is so good.
I liked the kitchen-step vibe with the snare
I for sure knew exit this earths atomosphere would get selected.
personally one of my favorite camellia songs is "why do you hate me". reminds me of doom crossed with a rhythm game and i absolutely love it
I like camellia cause of Rhythm games so my perspectives are different when listening to music like this instead of standalone like how you do it. My way, I judge the music in the way how it goes when it is charted in the rhythm games I play tho
I see camellia I click
Camellia's songs Yesterday and Final-Boss-Chan are so epic
if he didnt like GHOST, he definitely won't like killerbeast
also GHOST VIP is also pretty damn good
@bigkusa 53 imo the VIP hits harder.

@bigkusa 53 its hard to choose a top 1 fav track haha but probably these: Enantiomorphs, Nacreous Snowmelt, Crystallized, and may be Exit this earth or either Beyond the Geostationary orbit level. all of his songs are great xd
I'm honestly surprised that not many people picked his Megalovania Remix
Spoke too soon parts of Megalovania remix were appeared on beatmania IIDX
Experiencing Camellia in rythm games I think its mainly the the best thing.
especially beat saber...
Feeling the music 1 time in vr is the thing that got me to listening to his tracks, - Ghost is one of my favs there. (one of my like 20 favs out of his some 100 songs)

You should listen to PSYQUI
Oh yeas he should react to PSYQUI

Would love some more Camellia reactions man, he's released some absolute bangers over the year.
listening to camellia’s music is like just when you thought it’s the fastest prt of the song, it gets faster.....
Keep it up!
dude, if you thought ghost was too much, then camellia's Halloween sevenplus remix is like camellia on every type of drug possible in the western world B)
also you have to appreciate that Exit this earth's atmosphere is 5 YEARS OLD, dude lived/lives in the future
Definitely listen to his more recent music like his 200step songs/remixes and his recent album Tera I/O
You should listen to Gram vs. Camellia - Ragnarok
It's one of the best speedcore tracks ever created.
This
For me the reason why I put camellia above others is that even though the production isn't the greatest the variety and creativity always entertains me
he needs to do this again with his really good songs, these are like surface level ones
glad one of the ones that were chosen was light it up definitely one of the best imo ive been listening for a while since is song was in a gd level and i love it
Great video :) Camellia uses a very wide range of styles in his music and there's way more to discover out there, this is only a small bit of his great career.
The callabs with camellia and Nanahira are definitely some of the best productions I've ever heard, or maybe it's just because I'm a *_f^cking weeb_*
well that wouldnt really be much of a focus on camellia, and more on nanahira then. and I'd be surprised if he enjoyed denpa :(

Idk if you still listen to him sometimes, but he let out a new album yesterday called Tera I/O and they're all bangers

When playing these songs in rhythm games for example osu, the manic and overwhelming-ness (?) is blood pumping. My fav artist for rhythm games by far.
Imagine how bad this guy would hate Z:IrNiTrA
Edit: he even said, "So much potential here if it was a bit more refined and concentrated."
Again, he would hate Z:IrNiTRa
Z: irnitra is, for me, the best synthesized composition ever made (the least of all I've heard in my life). It is unbeatable, except for its mix, but the sound quality is secondary to the artistic cohesion. I would be very funny if what you say happened.
It's so weird seeing how much J-Core has cracked into a more global and popular light, I don't just have to buy CD's from sketchy Tokyo bookstore basements any more
I haven't even got to the end of the video and I'm already calling it, Exit This Earth's Atomosphere will be the most requested
Edit: yUh! I was right
I really wish his Tera I/O album had released by the time this video was out, I would love to see you react to love Fly Wit Me and the title track Tera I/O, those are two of my favorites
The worst part of this, was that all the most popular songs picked had worse mixing than most of the other songs
listening to camellia just makes my arms hurt due to playing the expert level beat saber maps haha
There are some things about how Camellia mixes his tracks that aren't really healthy (e.g. mixing at +3db). So it's kinda natural that you don't hear much of percussion and stuff you normally would've heard
Great reaction btw, I was really surprised that you were actually breaking down some things and actually critiquing.
