I'm curious why does a lot of japanese S-chassis cars got ECU and battery in the passanger footwell? I know S13 got awkward stock battery location and moving it may be neccessary. Is it just easier to put in there when we just want to "throw in" an engine and necessary electrical equipement or what?

I’m not exactly sure why (I don’t like it personally) I assume it’s just the easiest way to mount it out of the engine bay.
