Well it’s about time! I only asked them about six years ago to make these rifles that don’t have those stupid AR magazine adapters. They finally got around to it. For anybody that is interested, AC unity mags work beautifully in these. They’re a little tight but they function fantastically.
At the time that the M90NPs were being imported, the STANAG adapter made sense, as .223/5.56 AK magazines were the domain of the hard core AK enthusiast, and they were wanting to cater to the more mainstream gun buyer, so they put the STANAG adapter on. Now that there are multiple options for regularly imported 5.56 magazines from FB/WBP, PufGun, AC Unity and Zastava themselves, they can re-introduce the M90 in it's OG form, with proper rock'n'lock magazines. I can also attest that the Zastava BHO 5.56 magazines work beautifully in the SAM5R, Saiga and VEPR, and the BHO function is a nice touch to let you know when you run dry.

They now have clear as well as (soon) 45 round mags! I hear ya on the mag adapter imports.. sadly the way I looked at it.. if I wanted a rifle that shot AR mags, Id simply get an AR that was 1/2 the price at the time. To me, it didnt make sense to force it on an AK. but with the first wave of M85PVs (what I purchased first) I amassed 50+ steel mags and had only one firearm to shoot them with. This was well before AC unity, Im happy to see the standard M90 rifles come out. Now I only have to snag one before they sell out.
I bought some AC unity mags for mine. They sit a wee bit tighter that the magazine that came with the gun. Look pretty good too and you can get em for like 15 bucks a piece. Super nice for the money. Reinforced feed lips and bolt hold open as well.
Finally!!! I was so hoping these would come back with Zastva USA! Even better that they take the 556 AK mags instead of the AR-15 mags. That mag adapter on the original imports sucked. Edit: wish the muzzle threads were the standard 1/2 x 28. Just want to be able to screw on the suppressor I already have instead of having to use an adapter first.

Not happening. Zastava never got the tech package from the Soviets. Plus 5.45 is a dying cartridge on the world market. Most other former users except Russia, Ukraine and North Korea have gone to the 5.56 cartridge.

Nice rifle love it, but you say your mags holds the bolt open when it runs empty in so many words, then when the mag has been removed the bolt flys forward/ home.. what the point with that feature...

Ok, it's 223/5.56 w 1/7 twist barrel....Zastava builds good barrels. So.....No reason it can't shoot approx 1MOA@100 with quality loads and GOOD glass. Anyone have any data to share? IF they can't shoot MOA, why should I want it?
If they all worked perfectly I'd agree. The one I had only worked with steel case ammo on setting 3 while pushing up on the mag. Don't think Century did a great job on those mag adapters :)

@@winkleried the why is because 5.56 rock and lock mags are proprietary. A 5.56 Chinese gun uses different mags then a yugo etc and so on. It's stupid. Why not use one mag for 5.56 which is readily available Ala AR15 magazines. Kinda like in 7.62x39. Why wouldn't I use AK mags. Or in .308 you wanna pay 40+ bucks a pop for SCAR mags or you want to pay 20 bucks a pop for ar10 mags that are just as good. Lol
Hollow piston head is probably for reliable cycling while shooting subsonic ammo. Also slows the movement of the mechanism enough until the round leaves the barrel somewhat undisturbed from internal harmonics. It's how they do it on M91 but with as I recall 200+ grain pills. Loooooong f****rs.

Much more complicated than just slapping on a fin-grip prior to shipping into CA, and something Atlantic would likely not want to get involved with. May have to engage the services of a "middle-man" gunsmith out-of-state to ship to from Atlantic (plenty in AZ & NV), to do a conversion prior to having it sent further along into CA to the receiving FFL.

For $75 they make it ca legal or whatever your state laws are then send it immediately to your state ffl. $75 includes the shipping.. think they take the Zhukov stock and disconnnect it and put it in the box disassembled from the rifle. Check out their website they have a arrive called “ ca middle man” that’s where you want to use
Been shooting Ak's since the 89 ban. Got my first try at one in 223 back then. It was a valmet 76 fell in love with it and the chinese 84s were great guns also. You may say blasphemy but i say 5.56 with the AK reliability under all conditions. Then add a gas setting!!!! The only other rifle that has that in a true ak form is the m77 308 and the 8mm counter sniper. True ak form. I think if you actually find someone that has 1 for you to shoot you might actually like it.

Yes just noticed that Last time I shot , couldn’t find the casings the first time out, but this time I payed attention to where they were landing, still pretty far away on setting #2 , I might add, but some were dented slightly and some were dented pretty good , only thing I could think of , maybe the bolt carrier still coming back pretty fast and slamming the case into the rifle on the way out?? I wonder if it will still happen on steel cased ammo?

I've had mine since 2016 with the mag adaptor and it gets run on the regular and I've never had any issues except for mft magazines.
After all AK-s, from this or there. Small caliber, or large. Zastava stays the best AK, on the market today!!!

I have a original m90np and it has ran everything i put through it, as well as worked with every mag i tried, the d60 works awesomely.

Does this accept yugo wood furniture without a rear trunnion conversion?
Yes, the folding stock shown is the Magpul Zhukov which is standard Yugo. You could also swap it for a wood stock and furniture with no conversion.

Can I ask how you line up the sites on ak platforms. Everytime I shoot it knocks the earmuff off. Maybe a shoulder placement thing?
