- Today I will be adding a dottyback to my saltwater aquarium! This fish is very skittish and always hides so it was kind of hard to make a video about it. Please comment name suggestions down below!
Great music in this video!
I like the name Waldo!
I have 2 of them they stayed in the tank for 2 hours before they decided to voluntarily swim through the overflow now they are in the sump and that's where they will stay
I bought an Orchid and ended up captured it using the water bottle method and took his super aggressive ass back to my LFS. He killed two of my cleaner shrimps and a long established fire goby in 2 weeks time. Looks great, but super territorial and aggressive. :(
Hi Barry, fantastic fish you added, I often see it diving Pseuochromis fridmani is wonderful! Great your aquarium and filter system. It is nice to meet people with a passion for aquariums and fish. I'm your new subscriber, I hope we become friends. Like!
You forgot to put him in the QT tank
Love the tank bro, I was freaked out about the care for saltwater but you made it more clear for me! Like the positivity, keep up the great content!
Thank you!
Thanks for the video!
That dottyback might kill any fish you put in the tank. They're super agressive! I do love this tank though, I'm starting a 20 gallon soon too :)
Squidy Specifications That dottyback is the last fish I’m putting in there. I might add a cleaner shrimp in the future but don’t know if the dottyback will try to kill it! Good luck on your 20 gallon tank! 👍
@@BarrysAquarium Ah ok makes sense, good luck to you too!
@@BarrysAquarium you really should have more hiding places if you want to make sure this dotty doesn't get nasty with it's tank mates.
So far it hasn’t shown any aggression towards any of the other fish and it made a burrow underneath the rock structure to hide in!
beautiful fish new sub here
Thanks you!
@@BarrysAquarium you’re welcome
Nice clownfish
Thank you
Hey, would you get a dog faced puffer?
Hey Barry, I'm so happy I found your channel because I'm also going to start my own saltwater tank. What I needed to know was what filter media to put in my hob filter and now I know :D Also, how often do you change the carbon and bio media?
Glad to here! I change my carbon out once a month. You don’t ever need to change the bio media because it grows bacteria on it that help filter nitrates in the tank. Good luck starting your saltwater tank!
Your tank is really clean looking. No diatoms, hair algae, nothing. Is there any kind of clean up crew?
I have a pin cushion urchin and a couple of astrea snails that keep the tank nice and clean. It did go through a diatom bloom when I first set it up but not anything since then.
a tinted yellow screen might help with blue filtering with the camera
Got it covered 👍
Here's some tips. One don't use nets, use small clear cup scoop up fish, drain water out. Fish will never get caught and their slime will never be removed. 2. Ad your fish at night or cover up your tank, make it as dark as possible while you acclimate the new fish. Ad the new fish to the dark tank. This keeps all the fish more calm and it's less stressful for the new fish. And lastly never ad any new fish to your tank after a dottyback unless it's a really big fish.
Thanks for the tips! The dottyback was the last vertebrate that I will add to the tank
@@BarrysAquarium thanks for being responsible about your fish keeping
