🤯 That's right. Square Knots.. I also was in the Girl Scouts. Waaay back in '78. Wish I could remember my troops # now . WOW . Thank you so so much, for bringing back some great memories. Stay Blessed 🌻

@@BabaCrochetPatterns hahaha love it - we are square knotted for life! 🙌🏻💕 Getting that second tie in the right direction makes all the difference. Love your channel and wish you great success ❤️
OK - SUPER-WOW; I've been watching other vids about a 'magic knot', wrapping twice around thumb, then once in front, then tucking & pulling .... yadayadayada ... those instructions just werent' working for me, but my brain was saying - wait - conceptually I know there is a way to do this that should be easier ... you led me to it !!!! THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH !!!!!
Pinching rt where ur yarn is hidden and then pulling out is such a great idea. I remember learning it yrs ago but thank you for the reminder. Gonna try it out as soon as I get home
This is better than using a fisherman's knot which is bulkier and its easier to gauge where one colour ends and the next one starts. It's also very strong even after trimming the ends. Thanks for the tip👍
This is basically the what I changed to a few years ago. No more wasting 5 inches of yarn every time you need to change colors. Yes, I get stingy with my yarn because sometimes so scrap yard are very valuable depending on the project. Have fun ♥️
OMG, YEES! You make such an excellent point. In addition to not having to weave ends, you do save a ton of yarn in the process as well. Thank you so much for your comment! ♥
I also learned it when in the Brownies many, many years ago and we called it a 'reef knot' . I use it to this day when changing threads on my multi needle embroidery machine as it glides through the eye of the needle. Thank you for your tutorial.
Sometimes I do it this way. You can also cut the old color with a short tail, make a slip knot with the new color, slip it over the old color snug against the needle or hook and begin stitching. Then tie the two ends together, pull snugly and clip.
I thought that you had a great solution to weaving in ends until I tried it. I tightened the knot as tight as I possibly could and one still came undone after I had crocheted a few rows. Some were ok, but after the one came undone, I was afraid that the other ones would also. I was afraid that they would unravel in the wash or just with every day wear. I wish there was a way to guarantee that they wouldn’t be a problem.
Hey, Linda! I just uploaded a video for you, because I really don't want you to give up on this method: ruclips.net/video/O8te8XQ7uYg/видео.html Watch it, please!
Thanks, I will give it a try again. I’m just so afraid of it coming undone after I donate it to a needy family. I make these blankets for an organization called “It Takes a Village “ in our community and I would feel so bad if it didn’t hold up for them. It would save me hours of extra work if I can figure it out. Thanks again for replying to me🥰
I just saw your comment was held back and I approved it. SOOO HAAAPY you watched the video I made for you and you are willing to give this another try. You're AWESOME!
There's no guarantee. Just leave enough tails on both sides and work them together with the existing yarn. It will make a little bulk for a couple of stitches, but it's not important. And you'll have peace of mind.
@@irmar, try this yourself before dismissing it. The square knot is a completely safe knot successfully used by many people around the world in many areas of their lives, including crochet. Check out the other comments and all my videos on the topic! All love, Andra
I love this! How does this work though as far as how much of the old yarn you actually cut off? Is there a measurement of say an inch that the knot must be from the end of the yarn? Thanks 👍
Hi, Bernadette! That's a great question. :) I never actually measured. I just make sure that the remaining tail of the old yarn is as little as possible and that the knot goes inside the final stitch. I sometimes work a bit tighter or a bit looser, so that the knot goes where it's suppose to. I hope this helps.
Oooh, fuun! When it comes to edges I love really simple ones, but it's a matter of personal taste, of course. You did give me a great idea though for a few "Edging Tutorials". XOXOXO

Thank you for this. I have been really concerned about joining yarn with knots because some youtubers say that knots always come undone over time...sigh
What is the measurement required from the end of the old yarn to the knot? There must be something I'm missing. You don't mention it and I'm sure it's important. There must be some trick to getting it right 👍👍
