- Today we are unboxing a Goodwill Bluebox Mystery Jewelry box. This is the first of a two-part series comparing this box to an American Thrift Supply Mystery Box. Both boxes are similar in size and cost, so it will be interesting to see if they are of similar value.
I'll provide the box details, show you everything I got, and then we'll discuss gross projections, based on current eBay comps. As always, 4 months from now I'll post an update letting you know what sold and whether I got close to my projections.

Hello Heather! I love the orange & black plastic bracelets! Of course that’s the school I teach at colors!
Hi! Those are so cute and what great school colors!
I think that was a pretty good mystery box. A few things:
I have only sold two watches and, for both of them, I had my local jeweler put new batteries in them. I made that a selling point and mentioned in my listings that the batteries should last for about 4 to 5 years. The batteries cost me $10 each (and my jeweler cleaned up the watches nice & shiny). I only did that because they were great brands AND my COGs were under $2 for each. They both sold for about $40-45 each, not as much as I expected. To me, it was worth putting in the batteries, knowing they worked, and being able to charge a little higher than if they were untested or had no batteries. But I wouldn't do that again unless I could sell for higher prices. They were the first watches I ever listed. Yours being a Cote d' Azur, which seems to do "meh" on eBay, it's probably not worth buying a new battery for it, but I would definitely test it.
Re the "pearl" necklace - are they on a string with knots tied in between each pearl? That's one indicator. But a jeweler who is a gemologist could tell you if they're real. The one near me looks at stuff I bring him without charging me anything.
I like a lot of the pieces you got, especially the long necklace with angel wings and the colorful "twist bead" necklace - I guess those are my faves. About the one you said is turquoise - are you sure it's not dyed howlite? It looks to me that it might be.
I already appreciate your thoughful insights. I was concerned the watch wouldn't be worth the effort. Oh and you are so spot on, that is definitely a howlite necklace. I can't believe I didn't even question that...🤪 Thanks a bunch for the great tips! 🥰
Alex and Ani sometimes have been sterling so always check!
I put those items aside and plan to work on them next week. I'll have to double check. Great tip!
I’d love to see the jewelry processing video! 😊
Thanks for you input and it is on my schedule for next month.
9:36 the bangle bracelet - that looked like Premier Designs. Maybe a little worn off.
Alex and Ani bracelets - the regular ones dont always sell well, but there are beaded ones and bracelets with Swarovski crystals that are quite collectible.
Yes! Premier Designs for sure. Spot on! I'll have to research those Alex and Ani and compare to the one's I have in stock to determine if it's worth cleaning up or not.
13:34 - I definitely see the LC on the orange flower brooch. Just under the pin bar above the open circle on the back of the brooch
It sure is! How did I miss that! 🤨 Thanks for sharing.
15:59 - another good descriptor is Cha Cha necklace
Love that! 🥰
I've gotten mystery boxes with jewelry and have wound up with crap. I ended up lotting everything together and sold it on ebay as a craft lot. Didn't sell for a whole lot but I got a little money back 🙂 and yes! would love to see a processing video. That blossom charm bracelet is so cute, looks handmade.
What a great idea! I've gotten a stinker box in the past and I wish I would have that of that. Even if you recoup your cost as least you didn't have to put much effort into it. Smart! I have a jewelry processing video on my schedule for next month. 👍
I think that was a very good box. Too bad about the Betsey piece. @16:00 I've heard this type of dangle called cha-cha. Wishing you good sales!
Lol, my partner uses that sound to confirm and Etsy sale. 🙌🤑
