Thanks for the video. I was able to replace the 6.8 uF (used a 10 uF) and the 22 uF. I wasn't able to replace the larger (probably a 100 uF) capacitor since my speedometer assembly is an E44 and instead of the large capacitor being mounted near the edge of the board, it is in the middle where it is buried under electro-mechanical components that would need to be unsoldered and removed to access the capacitor. I removed the pointer before realizing that the capacitor was so buried. After reassembly, the speedometer was way out of calibration, probably due to removing the pointer. With the engine running, but the car stationary, I removed the pointer and re-positioned it below 0, then carefully moved it above the stop. On about the 2nd try, it is only reading about 1 or 2 KPH below my GPS speed reading which is more accurate than it ever was before the capacitors went bad.

Thanks for sharing. I found that the 6.8mFd were easily changed out with 10mFd. I scrounged a 100mFd of an old board, and the 22 seems okay, but changing it out solved the over-reading I had on first test. I did the 6.8mFd on the tacho with a 10mfd and that is fine as well. there was oozing out of the smaller and the 100 was bulging below. i used 63v 10mFd because that's what I had, its longer, but fits in sideways. The question about matching is to make sure the voltage is at least 25% higher on the cap than the line voltage, and the capacitance as close to the original as possible.
It took me only five mins to replace all components, but I'm a veteran electronics tech...

    • @enmanuelmax

I have already solved the problem. It turns out that the fuel gauge needle was out of calibration, this happens when it is intentionally moved by a person, then it becomes out of adjustment and can cause it to end up marking badly. I was able to solve the problem by going to an electromechanic here in my country, who explained to me what was happening and it was not so difficult to solve. Greetings!

Thanks for the video - I used it to get started repairing my 1992 Corolla speedo that is reading high. It used to read consistently 7km/h high but in the last few weeks started reading about 30km/h high. I replaced all the capacitors (6.8uF, 22uF & 100uF). However, it doesn't seem to have made any difference. Perhaps some other components are faulty (resistor, diode?).

You might be interested to know that after taking another look I discovered that one of the capacitor's legs was not connected to the rest of the circuit due to the copper track being broken/corroded just next to the leg. I fixed it by using a small piece of wire & now the speedo works well! Thanks again.

All gages stop working including odometer as well. Only the backlights now work. Would this be caused by the capacitors as well?
