    • @SpicePrincess1890
      @SpicePrincess1890 5 лет назад +23

@@Jongen. You misunderstand the message of this song and this comment.
Basically, it means that, if someone things you are not attractive, or wants to bring down your confidence, and they have the mind and desire to want to outwardly call you ugly to your face, then they, in turn, have an ugly mindset for wanting to be mean toward you in the first place.
They may call you ugly physically, but regardless if that's true or not, THEY are ugly on the inside.

I'm not vicious or angry, but want to remind them that their words are also a reflection of how they feel about themselves inside, too. "Ugly"
    When I was 7
    They said I was strange
I noticed that my eyes and hair weren't the same
I asked my parents if I was OK
    They said you're more beautiful
And that's the way they show that they wish
    That they had your smile
So my confidence was up for a while
I got real comfortable with my own style
I knew that they were only jealous cos
    People are all the same
And we only get judged by what we do
    Personality reflects name
    And if I'm ugly then
    So are you
    So are you
There was a time when I felt like I cared
That I was shorter than everyone there
People made me feel like life was unfair
And I did things that made me ashamed
Cos I didn't know my body would change
I grew taller than them in more ways
But there will always be the one who will say
Something bad to make them feel great
    People are all the same
And we only get judged by what we do
    Personality reflects name
    And if I'm ugly then
    So are you
    So are you
    People are all the same
And we only get judged by what we do
    Personality reflects name
    And if I'm ugly then
    So are you
    So are you
    Everybody talks bad about somebody
And never realises how it affects somebody
And you bet it won't be forgotten
Envy is the only thing it could be
Cos people are all the same
    (The same, the same)
And we only get judged by what we do
    (What we do, yeah, yeah)
    Personality reflects name
    And if I'm ugly then
    (Yeah, you)
    So are you
    So are you
    People are all the same
    (Oh, oh, oh)
And we only get judged by what we do
    (What we do, yeah)
    Personality reflects name
    And if I'm ugly then
    (Yeah, so are you)
    So are you
    So are you

You just can't beat a good old fashioned pat on the back song about universal acceptance of how all us humans are just the neatest thing ever. Personally, I sing like a sphincter, and The Sugababes are happy to share that they do too. Bravo!!

I loved Keisha when she was in the sugababes and I was gutted when she left. To me, she had the best voice, was the most beautiful, had the vocal range and power, was the best member of sugababes, was and still is one of my celebrity crushes.

The incredible Mutya!❤ its interesting to see Mutya taking the lead in so many of the songs where it's her vocals which provide the introduction to so many of the songs which presumably must have been part of the production formula adopted by the band with emphasis on the contrast between the incredible voices of both Mutya and Keisha.

A beautiful song that brings a tear to my eyes every time :') I used to get picked on for having big eyes and weird hair as a kid, and I've always been very short. Hearing this makes me remember how low people made me feel about myself, but also how now I have "grown taller than them in more ways" :)

Most of us have the overall impression that this song is wondrous and beautiful and divine, but the lyrics are indeed complex...
The song confronts evil head on, and it is the love and truth in the recognition of the reality of the world that conveys power, but also meaning.
Indeed we are happy about a song that tells us sad things about our world, because the recognition of truth is godly and beautiful.
The same happens with the tremendous "The Way it is" by Bruce Hornsby and inded "Another day in Paradise" by Phil Collins and indeed "I think it's going to rain today" by Nina Simone.
These are divine songs reached by the Holy Spirit, who wants to use them to reach us.
The song is actually rather close to the vision of our world offered in 1 John 5:19.
It celebrates diversity of the individual who wants to grow, even as it acknowledges the conformity and hard-heartedness of most people/the majority...
The song equates "People" with "Everybody" and sets that prevailing view with the individuality of the individual singers who present their cases and stories.
    Asd we learn...
    "People":
    - are all the same
    - can make us feel life is unfair
    - can make us do things that we should be ashamed of
    Wisdom indeed.
    Meanwhile, "they":
    - are just jealous
Meanwhile "one" (presumably meaning "anybody" potentially)
    - will always say something bad to make them feel great - a very strong and perceptive lyric! [Later in the song this attributed to envy]
    Meanwhile, "Everybody":
    - talks bad about somebody, and never realise how it affects somebody, and you bet it won't be forgotten
The latter form is interesting, being depersonalised, passive voice.
This opens the gate to the possibility that the one who will not forget is not the victim, but God.
"we only get judged by what we do" likewise may not reference the judgment of human beings, but by the ones who are ENTITLED to judge us... Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The first singer is reassured by parents that different eyes and hair did not make her strange, but "more beautiful" - quite right too!
All the more so because the person has joy...
Most people interpret a core lyric here as "Personality reflects name" but one wonders if it might be "personality-reflex-name"
    - which makes more sense.
Because of our personality, we engage in reflex hate through name-calling, and indeed pigeon-holing in general...
"if I'm ugly then so are you, so are you" (presumably plural "you"?)
The second singer has height issues, which once weighed down heavily on her, but she grew "taller than them in more ways" - a beautiful and deep and divine lyric
The song ends by reminding us again that "we only get judged by what we do"
...whether that is good or bad?
    Quite so.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth...

I think this song is amazing, because it tells people that your unique and you shouldn't care what people think about you because your amazing just the way you are! And if people judge you then they are judging themselves, because we are all different!
