Amazing tune. Defines that period of d&b evolution like no other. Absolutely iconic & essential. One of the best tracks of the genre ever written. I remember this used to absolutely destroy any dancefloor around Melbourne in its time. Played it to some new skool kids recently and they werent that impressed. Guess you really had to be there at the time to understand its impact on and relevance to the scene at one of its pivotal points where new styles were forged and led the way forward. Guess d&b is pretty much all heavy, technical, slamming and nasty these days (correct me if I'm wrong please) so I can only assume today's fans are desensitized/overexposed to this subgenre.

I think people are just used to really clean tunes these days. It would be a different story if they heard this in a club (i still wish that someone would play it, i’ve only heard it on headphones).
If i can point you to some newschool producers worth listening to, here are my favorites who have a more grounded sound and also stay more true to the original vibe
      Coco Bryce
      DLR
      Total Science
      Breakage
      Unglued
Try some of their music, hopefully it’s more reminiscent of the original stuff.
Also, yeah there are just so many other tunes like this one today that it can get lost in the crowd, tho i still find it special myself. There’s something to the distortion on the reese that i’ve never heard elsewhere

I mean if you want stuff like this that is modern, you should check out Paragon, Submerged, Homemade Weapons, Gremlinz, and of course Tech Level 2 (Justin Broadrick of Godflesh, Jesu, JK Flesh, Techno Animal, ex-Napalm Death etc.) and Quoit (Mick Harris of Scorn, Fret, ex-Napalm Death, etc.). Both of the latter made material back in this time period, but also relatively more recent stuff.
