I love this!! I’m from the Navajo Nation and take an interest in all things fiber arts as we have a long tradition ourselves in spinning and weaving.

So amazing!! My two goddesses on one screen! I’m actually knitting right now with some fiber I bought from Abby a million years ago and spun:)

Her book taught me so much when I was younger, and I still treasure it. Glad to see she's doing well!

I can't wait to see your pictures/videos and textiles you make when you are in Peru! I am so excited for you!
Travel advice...mail the kilos/pounds of fibers you acquire home rather than trying to stuff them in your suitcase. 😉

My husband and his family were in Peru. In 2014 , his family was videoing some traditional spinning and wool dying demonstration I was at home learning to drop spindle. It was interesting to of been doing some of the same thing thousands of miles apart. And we had not called each other aether. Fun and wierd.

Very interested in this trip. But not a paying patreon. Husband may come but all depends on your patreon numbers. This is really amazing.

    Two questions.... (One for Abby!)
    1. Can we see the iternerary written out? The video cut out a bit on the replay.
    2. Abby- I only spin on spindles at the moment but worry about my posture and and muscle fatigue.... Is there proper posture for spindle spinning? I am self taught and just do what feels comfy and works at the moment, but I dont want to cause long term damage.

This was a wonderful exchange. I’m not even halfway through writing this, and I just had to comment and say thank you so much for bringing this moment on I do a lot of sewing, but weaving and fibers with something I always wanted to get into as a hobbyist. I respect it so much it is a labor of love. 🫶🏼

Bottom line: this trip is not your Home Territory. It's a different country. Things will not be like they are at home. If you, as a traveler, have any doubts of anything about the trip: Don't Go. Please, please, Please, don't be an Ugly Foreigner. Be aware that the area you're going to is essentially straight up and down/mountains. Big Mountains. Not likely to have Florida weather either.
