There is the very real implication that the tree's loved ones are in fact Milton, due to him saying "say goodbye to your loved ones" then immediately saying goodbye to Milton. Julia is such a visionary weaving in these underlying messages and character work.

My favorite thing about Julia's tree panel -- they sent all the people who loved trees into space, then punished the ones left behind, who are by definition less tree loving, for failing to repent for their tree crimes. Like, what did they think was gonna happen? And why strand yourself on a planet where the dominant creatures hate you? And why does he have such a thing for Milton who is (I think) not a member of humanity? Idk just love it thank you Julia for this mind puzzle

Milton’s comics may all go the same way but Milton has truly advanced comics to a higher form and I can’t wait until the day we finally get our Chris Pratt live action adaptation

Dinosaur comics (I think thats what it's called? It's been a while) is a form of this! Every comic strip is the same panels, just the dialogue is different. Its definitely an acquired taste tho.

I forgot how funny it is to make a comic with other people, and when you can’t think of how to continue a scene, you just write “meanwhile” and switch the location. Me and two friends made this cursed comic during lunch one year, and we wrote “meanwhile” at least a dozen times in twenty pages.
It still catches me off guard every time I realize these voices are coming out of real people and not little cartoon characters

The nonbinary landlord tree (who I guess is the landlord of the entire planet) is my new favorite fictional character. I'm looking forward to buying the print of this.
I did something similar back in high school with 2 friends. We'd pass a notebook around and take turns drawing panels without ever knowing how the plot would evolve (or even what characters might suddenly get involved. You better believe Sailor Moon and Elrond met the Backstreet Boys).

I love this new style of video where they just condense all of the chaos from a 2 hour stream into less that 40 minutes
This is a hilarious and useful way to build intrigue and tension in a story. Just shift the responsibility of story progression to someone else by reusing pre-drawn panels to add new stakes, cut-away to other story lines, and forever postpone the reveal of said new-stakes. "No dialogue but [be sure to add] woodgrain" sums this up well lmao

Honestly, I was half-expecting the final panel to just be the cat pointing at the tree and saying Chilchuck. The real ending wraps it up so much better, but it would perfectly encapsulate the nothingness that is 95% of this comic. Truly, you have made a masterpiece.

Julia's Soulja bit had me dying. I thought it was ridiculously hilarious back when it came out and it STILL makes me laugh. It reminds me of the golden era of YTP too, which is a great way of making me lose it

Seriously, loving this new format with live stream challenges edited down into shorter videos, I laughed so hard I feel light-headed. It's the distilled stream energy concentrated into a burst of Drawfee flavored chaos. Can't wait to see the original vod, too, but this is one of my new faves in 2024.
