    Anyone wanting to do this: Remember to first enter the bios and switch off the internal battery before opening the laptop!

    • @Regginyx
      @Regginyx 3 года назад +2

      Uhhh, I bought a laptop with a locked BIOS, I upgraded to get that internal battery (which now works without any changes to the BIOS).
      Would that mean I'd be unlikely to do this upgrade myself without that BIOS password?

    • @PC1948
      @PC1948  3 года назад +1

      You can reset the BIOS, you need to disconnect the battery and the CMOS battery.

    • @adriankoch964
      @adriankoch964 3 года назад +1

      @@Regginyx yes but you have to treat it as under (standby) power when opening it. So beeline to the battery connector & disconnect that first.

      @@PC1948 I just done that and disconnected the CMOS battery and now the PC definitely reset the date and time and all that; BUT the supervisor password is still sadly stuck there :/ shutting down the PC and turning it on again doesn't reset the CMOS again (meaning I'm 90% certain I did everything right here; disconnected my internal; disconnected CMOS; and then waited 2 minutes just to be safe; reassemble)
      So sorry for asking for help here; I'm not sure where else to go. I saw a video and in the video they took out their HDD storage; would I need to take out my Storage Drive while doing this?

      Typical SSD Operating Temperatures
      For reliability, most of the time you should see a temp range between 30ºC and 50ºC (86ºF to 122ºF) for SSDs under load in a standard desktop computer.

    • @datawraith236
      @datawraith236 4 года назад +5

      Hi, The X240/250/260 machines don't support SATA M.2 SSDs. There are no SATA lanes connected to the M.2 slot, and no SATA over PCI-e whatsoever. Your only option is to go with a 2242 NVME SSD. The problem is that most of the NVMEs you can get in a PC parts shop are 2280 form factor. I used a WD 2242 NVME that came out of my Lenovo Legion Y540 (i upgraded the Y540 with a Samsung 970 Evo). Most of the 2242/2230 NVMEs out there are only available to OEMs, so you should probably find a suitable drive on eBay.
      Edit: Depending on your BIOS version, you may not be able to use a NVME SSD either. Be sure to apply the latest BIOS version available on Lenovo's support site.
      Cheers!
