Absolutely loving my F80 still, don't know if I'll be able to let it go. But I'd love to get into an F90 sometime for these same reasons haha.

But with winter tires the rwd would go? I just bought a 435i rwd and live in iceland so im now regretting this becouse of this video 😢
You will still have issues with RWD
All season tires is only fine if u drive a small car only in the city, else i would never put all seasons on any of my cars

Do you have heated steering wheel , seats also can you remote start heat them ?
Yes. It all heats up when I remote start it
How many miles do you have. I’m considering a 2021 with about 25k miles I would most likely do 10k a year and plan to keep for 3 years.

Awd is so nice, wish BMW gave it to the f80/f82 and trashed the idea that real sports cars are only rwd. We could of.competed against GTR's

great car and great content as always!!! I use my 2017 m2 in every conditions (living in canada) and I don't get stuck but in snow ice condition I remove esc and it slides all over the place but sometimes I start in 2nd to avoid having the wheels spinning and creating an icy spot I also have really good winter tires some nokian hakkapeliitta , I was about to sell my m2 for a xdrive 2018 m550i but the m2 is too much fun. it would be more practical I have a wife 2 girls and now the boyfriend is always with us too so I always need a 5 seater :( but we have a boring audi q3 that sounds like a vacuum cleaner that 2l turbo is actual more of a gas guzzler than my m2.

@@TommyLGarage Well, just to clarify and sorry for a wall of text - I'm a norwegian and have driven RWD and AWD in all sorts of weather on pretty much all types of road tyres.
All season tires are simply not good in any conditions. And is not even worth considering. I might, just maybe use all seasons on a low power, rarely used car.
But pretty much every norwegian have dedicated summer and winters, simply because All seasons are no seasons.
All seasons are considerably worse in summer conditions with water and heat. Especially aquaplaning.
And for winter / winter-conditions below 10C or 50F, they have considerably worse braking performance and traction than winter. Especially in snow or icy conditions (but studded will always be best on ice). The only time all seaons have an edge on winters are when there is just water on the road, because of the water channel on all-seasons.
I still own one of my old time favorite cars and one of the first cars I got. A BMW E46 318i RWD manual. That car has seen some pretty nasty weather from roads completely covered in black ice with freezing rain to waist deep snow. Never got stuck in that car and have always used proper winter tires. A couple of years ago, on new years eve it was a proper snow storm, I think we saw 30cm in just a couple of hours. Highways were "make your own lane", it was that bad. Yet, my little trusty 318i plowed straight through with no issues, even passing Volvo SUVs. (Mind you, we were maybe going 30-40 km/h) Any kind of car who had all seasons on that night would never have made it out of their driveway or a parking lot without shoveling or doing tons of rocking back and forth.
I can't even imagine a high powered sports car like your M5 during winter with all seasons. I guess you can sorta cheat it with the AWD, but I am almost 100% sure my old F06 M6 with hakkapeliitta r3's would have just as good accessibilty as your M5 xDrive with all seasons.
Sure, the TC light was on no matter what, but using sensible gearing like starting in 2nd or 3rd and turning TC off and leaving ESC on when there was a bit more snow than normal and you would rarely have any problem getting to your destination.
A couple of good tips for winter tires:
Down size from summer tires. Wider tires does not mean better traction on snow. If you rarely ever see snow, but see cold temps (Below or around 10C / 50F). A wider tire is fine since it will see more asphalt than snow.
I personally never used anything wider than 225 on any of the cars I've owned and nothing larger than 19s. You want that sidewall. Even the M6.
Squared setup for winter is usually better than staggered, even for X-drive. But if you want, you can run staggered. But won't recommend going above 255 for rears.
Start in a higher gear than normal, like 2nd or 3rd to make sure the tires pick up snow rather than flinging it away and dig in.
Some tires are more aimed towards wet-winters rather than snowy winters.
I think it is difficult to get Nokian Hakkapeliitta's outside of Europe. But if you can, they are amazing.
The rather new Continental VikingContact 7 have been getting a lot of high praise around here and even won the best studless winter tire in 2023 here in Norway.
As we say here - Winter tires first, then AWD.
