I was in Sri Lanka when the economy went pop. It was sad to see the people struggling with long queues for fuel and food but really pleased to see that it’s got a lot better. Fantastic country fantastic people. 🇱🇰 ❤
Holy crap that tower was cool and scary. Excellent drone footage from that as well. I had no idea that Sri Lanka had such high elevation. Good episodes.
GREAT STUFF! You're one of my favorite travel vloggers because you push yourself, eat and sleep like the locals, and acheive new personal records. It's nice to see the local cops helping a traveler
I’m currently travelling around Sri Lanka and it’s an incredible country. I am in Kandy at the moment and travelling to Ella tomorrow. We Vlog everyday and visited (&rode) Elephants yesterday please check it out & show some appreciation
Well done!!! I know your fear of heights! So proud of you!!! (And yes, saving this for our future trip to Sri Lanka😊). What an accomplishment!!🎉. And the fact you had your drone filming it all ❤. Second thoughts though on the E-tuktuk! 😂
There was a famous British agent called JOHN DOYLE who lived in Sri Lanka in colonial era and he could speak sinhalese who died in 1820s and buried in Kandy cemetery and every sri lankans are learn about him very well in the school and his personal diary record collections are very famous in sri lanka .
What a cool temple and so picturesque! Quick question for the Sri Lankans from an ignorant foreigner - isn’t Hinduism the second largest religion in SL? How come it’s not represented in the tower?
So proud of you!! I remember when you let Lena go up by herself.... 😂 But this time not only did you go up by yourself but you even looked like you enjoyed it a bit! Bravo! 🥰
Nuwara Elia is great, the English colonial architecture is nice. There’s a decent hotel there with a pub and restaurants inside. Of course being an English you’d feel at home there!
Congratulations Paddy, I could not do that in a million years. My heart, stomach and head were in a sympathetic state of fear! Such bravery. So impressed!
Love your videos Paddy, the drone shots are fantastic. I am going to S.L in Feb 24 and you have shown me some great place to see...... Stay safe from down under !
My Electric Tuk Tuk was hijacked by the Police. hahaha (Your Short) Wow, what a epic view from the top!!! So scary getting to the top. Amazing what you will do for the channel. Thanks Mate!
No way! I felt your fear all the way up and I’m sure coming down was possibly more frightening. I visited Sri Lanka about 5 years ago and that was definitely not on my list😂 So interesting to hear about the joys and challenges of your electric tuk tuk. Nuwara Eliya is an interesting place which surprised us. So different to the rest of Sri Lanka. Thanks for facing your fears with us and keep up the amazing content 😊
good video as always paddy doyle... The last video I followed from your channel was during the Thailand tour. 1st season maybe... after that I lost interest a little bit... but since two or three days, your shorts came up... and I kept looking at this video.. I promise, I will continue watching your videos starting from the video last time I stayed.. Take care of health, take care of safety.. happy holidays... peace
So so proud of your achievement conquering your fear and that wonderful wonderful shots of the climb up. Knowing your anxiety prob, you smashed it! Well done Paddy. God bless.
Man i love how friendly it is over there. You show the cameraor take a picture theyre happy smiling in front like the 70s, 80s and 90s here in america lol sadly these days here people in the west would scream crying or assault you for carrying around that camera walking around here in the US would get you possibly arrested or a big ticket
I feel for you Paddy. Did Snowden via the Pyg track and Crib Goch a knife edge ridge and Grade 1 scramble, certainly not for the feint of heart. Sheer drops on either side that are hundreds of feet. I was glad to get to the top, and thankful the route down was different lol.
Wow Paddy, the walk up the tower was insane, great filming, fantastic view ! i wish you would have had a piece of charcoal with you to write your name on the top : "i did it ! Paddy Doyle " 🤩✌It is a great adventure with your lazy Tuk Tuk, - it doesn`t like steep roads lol ! - we see at least you make nice encounters when you are in troubles with it ❤👍
I can relate, Paddy. I have the same issue with the height. I get nervous watching this from the sofa already 😅 I’ll be in Sri Lanka with Karl Watson in February. Looking forward to this beautiful country.
Great video mate! Issue is they need to use a more powerful motor to be able to cope with weight of vehicle, people, luggage. Still it is something new and they will get it eventually. Just look at electric bikes and scooters… Your vid on Sri Lanka tour is beautiful and your travel vlogs are not only visually beautiful but educational! Thanks Paddy from 🇦🇺🇦🇺 PS my stomach was turning over with you going up that tower - no way! I’m terrified of heights!
Great thumbnail. I remember going up the Leaning Tower of Pisa about 40+ years ago, when there was no railing of any type. And because it is truly LEANING, I couldn't believe how nervous I felt.
Hiya Paddy. A trendsetter with the first electric TukTuk. Good workout for the Tuktuk. Seeing how it would cope with more people. Love the clip of the old footage. Good vibes. Seeing the locals around the Tuktuk. The views on your walk were insane. Kinda glad it did not make it to see those views. Omg. That was insane. So proud of you. Well done. At 50. Paddy. I still could not do this. What a thing to overcome. And achieve. Amazing. Epic. Wow. Wow. Wow. 💙My mouth is aching as I am smiling so much. Well done. The views are next level. The drone footage is spectacular. I have got to be honest. I felt so nervous for you. What a thing to conquer. Amazing. How lovely of the police. Such good vibes. Your lunch looked delicious. What a feast. You are great. Doing this will give them so much information regarding the tuk-tuk. Great result for the team. Lovely ending. Love seeing the horses just eating. Can not wait to share. Have a wonderful weekend. Lovely video. Can not wait for the next one.
I’m currently travelling around Sri Lanka and it’s an incredible country. I am in Kandy at the moment and travelling to Ella tomorrow. We Vlog everyday and visited (&rode) Elephants yesterday please check it out & show some appreciation
My palms are sweating watching you climb that tower. Never, never, never will I go up that tower. I get dizzy just looking into an empty soup bowl. 😄Nice video again Paddy. 👍
OMG Paddy...I had to fast forward on your ascent and descent of the tower. My stomach was rolling and I was puling back in my chair. Lol. Well done Paddy.
Omg just watching this made me put my phone down to get some breaths can only imagine what you where going through specially when there was people coming down the stairwell well Done my friend WELL DONE.
Paddy! So proud of you! I did this tower many years ago with tears of fear pouring down my face 😅 The feeling afterwards is one for the records 💯✨🥰 WE did it!!
Show those pretty pearly whites in an ear splitting grin-well deserved well done paddy!!! Always nice to feel welcome in a new place. Love how police got to test the tuktuk they were amazed. Question; are Indian curry’s similar in heat to Thai curries? I don’t know about curries want to learn. Enjoy, safest travels, happy trails, thank you🙏🏻❤️
I was holding my breath the whole time you were climbing the tower. I can’t believe once you got to the top you stayed up there that long. I would’ve made a quick way down if I would’ve even walked up at. And that is probably a big no in the first place. But congratulations. And I love that it’s dedicated to all of the religions. I will definitely visit that spot, but just enjoy it from the bottom. 😂🎉 where can I get some information about the tuktuk. I live out here at the beach in Florida. I would love to have one of those. we don’t really have any hills to deal with. So it would be perfect.
It's an obvious thought, though I don't know about the technology, as to whether there is scope for there to be a solar panel on the roof, to help trickle some power back into the batteries.
Well done on the climb, I dont think I could do it. Certainly couldnt fit into the little alcoves. I wonder if the motor controler was overloading/heating on the climb to the tower..
Paddy going up that tower was amazing well done you. I couldn't do that. As for the tuk tuk, I Said it before, I'll say it again. I can see Reasons for not getting one.
I just went up to the top yesterday. I suffer from vertigo so it was pretty scary for me. When I got to the top there was a couple ahead of me and it was impossible for them to get past me to come back down so I'm truth I was a few steps from the top but that was good enough for me, I was eager to get off the thing. Like you I just didn't trust the structure - especially in the strong winds.

On google maps, if you see the route, switch to walking mode and make sure it follows the same route, you can see the change in elevation on the route
Wauw nice paddy 😘💓

Inspirational. I hope to follow in your footsteps of discovering these lands very soon. Thanks for what you do.
I faced my fear of heights on the Manitou Incline, Manitou Springs, CO in USA
I was in Sri Lanka when the economy went pop. It was sad to see the people struggling with long queues for fuel and food but really pleased to see that it’s got a lot better.
Fantastic country fantastic people. 🇱🇰 ❤
That tower! Just NOPE!!! My stomach was churning just watching you. Well done conquering your fear
Yeah it made my legs wobbly. I tried chain climbing a mountain side in Zion and it was terrifying. I'll never do that kind of thing again.
Holy crap that tower was cool and scary. Excellent drone footage from that as well. I had no idea that Sri Lanka had such high elevation. Good episodes.
Thanks a ton!
That tower! Holy crap! My palms were sweaty watching you go up. The drone footage was fantastic.
You and me both!
Hahaha I was just gonna say my hand and feet were soaked in sweat by the time you reached the top and got the drone shot
palms sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy ? was that the case
Smashing accomplishment Paddy. I can't imagine how they built that tower. Loved the big smile on your face when you finally got to the top.
Thanks 👍
The roads are so clean
I'm an Aussie, but Srilankan heritage, and when watching your experience with that tower... I thought... Phuc Dat!!

Very well done Paddy, getting up the tower and defeating your fear of heights. No way on earth I would have been able to do that .
