the reason is female lions breed with a lot of males so male lions generally have DNA which increases growth of offsprings so that once she shifts to another male his offsprings are already grown up. To counteract that female lions have a DNA to suppress the increased growth DNA from the male lion. Tigers on the other hand don't have this, female tigers don't have the suppressing gene which causes ligers to be bigger, however their skeletons arent made to carry this huge weight, ligers cant hunt or live on their own and have a lot of problems becuz of this growth they arent really strong just really abnormally big.
