This item has worked for those who are challenged with Arthritis. It's slow but it works. We have had one over to years and still going strong once you learn how to use it.
I have arthritis, and I am cooking because I love to cook! This baby worked fine for 18 months, then no more. It wasn't a battery problem - I changed the batteries. It just quit working.
This is a product thst works well if you are cooking multiple items at once and can just set it and let it do its thing while you are preparing other items at the stove.
I have this exact can opener and I love it. I know he said the batteries were new but The can opener sounded like it was dragging from the very beginning. Mine doesn't... Except when it needs new batteries.
It's the cheap harbor freight thunderbolt batteries, mine opens a can in roughly 12 seconds, my issue is it's loud ...other than that it works great...except the magnet it's terrible
Thanks for the reveiw. I am the cook for my house, we are all disabled seniors. I came to you tube to try to figure out how to get the batteries. My brother got it open and we put the batteries in. If it just takes awhile, that is fine, but if I cannot get the batteries in, not so good.
Horrible review! My hands lack the strength to use crank type opener. This has been a miracle gadget for me. I love it! (I was watching, just hoping for some battery replacement help.) I resent this guy's put down statements, telling me I don't "belong in the kitchen." So rude, sarcastic, and disrespectful. Horrible reviewer! I go to reviews for logical and helpful reviews, not to be upset by this Total Stranger!
I'm glad you like your can opener. I agree that my humor came across as rude; I'm not so much of a jerk that I can't admit that. But the review was sincere. No matter how you feel about me personally, my opinion of this can opener remains unchanged: it sucks! The 2 most common comments on this video are (1) it works better with fresh batteries, and (2) the battery compartment is difficult to open. On #1, I used fresh batteries in the video, and it's still super slow. No one should have to put in a fresh set of batteries every time they want to open a can. And there's no shut off, so after it's taken a leisurely trip around the can, it just keeps going. On #2, if this thing makes it so much easier for people with arthritis, why make a battery compartment that's hard to find and nearly impossible to open without a wedge? By the way, I have arthritis, and have had surgery on both my hands and a bone removed from each. I love gadgets that make my life easier and more pain free, but this isn't one of them! Thanks for watching and keep continue to use your can opener in good health!
You know, he never said that. ...Are you prone to cutting yourself on sharp can edges? Then fine, this IS for you. If not, just get an electric opener. Both work for arthritic hands.
I hated it at first too, but I've grown to think it's alright. First world "problem", but it just takes too long to open the can. The biggest issue with these electric can openers is that if a can is somehow bent, you're going to have a problem opening it with this thing.
I just bought one today and it was soooo slow I thought something must be wrong. I searched youtube to see if anyone else has the same experience. This thing goes back tomorrow!
I have the same exact hand crank one u show at the beginning of ur video...it literally just doesn’t work. Since I bought it😭 thats y I’m looking forward an electric.
Well I'm not one that needs items opened very speedy....so if that's the only negative thing you have to say about this item...well consider it bought! Was thinking about purchasing this and ran across your video and you just confirmed my purchase! I'm going to purchase a major brand of batteries because those look like they were generic and dated!
Thank you for this review. My parents bought one and I couldn’t even figure out how to use it. It did take forever, is loud as unnecessary get out but at least this tuna can is open lol
Mine hasn't cut off one lid yet, it just spins around. I thought I had placed it incorrectly but no, that's not the case. Having arthritis makes cranking a manual opener difficult, but it usually gets the job done.
Not enough voltage. I have one which runs on 4 AA batteries - and that one runs fast. With this one you can also hear that it's at its limit. If you buy one: the one with 4 batteries. It's usually part red and part white.
"If you're prone to cutting yourself in the kitchen, why are you in the kitchen ?" 😂🤣😂 Good point! (And psst folks, you're not supposed to store leftovers in the can. It's bad for you.)
So, idk if your brand of batteries are of poor quality or you got a "dud" of a can opener. I purchased the same can opener ($19.99) put Energizer Max AA batteries in & started it up. Mine was much faster than the unit in your video. Yes it is a bit slower than the average countertop model, but I feel it's definitely worth the 20 bucks. I haven't found anything other than that to be negative regarding this handy little opener. 😊
Get rid of the cheap Chinese batteries from Harbor Freight and it works a lot better. I had some of those exact Chinese batteries. Changed it out and voile’ ! It worked better for this 63 year old with hand injury who has to go into kitchen to feed her 87 year old mother who can’t turn a crank handle anymore. Old people like to eat Margaret Holmes veggies too! Btw, Chestnut Hill from Family Dollar Collards are actually much better than the Margaret Homes.
I have the exact same can opener, and I agree with you. It's definitely faster with better batteries, but it's still a tad too slow for my tastes. I know longer hate it though like I did originally.
I have this opener, I just finished putting a 4 volt lithium (18650) holder on the top of it, gets up and goes now, the extra volt makes a big difference
I got this can opener for 50% off from Walmart and can't get it to work. My physical therapist got it to work, but it was slow, and he said he honestly didn't know how he did it. 2 other family members could not get it to work. This is driving me crazy that I can't get a damn can opener to work, when I work with electricity all the time, install light fixtures, wire boxes, disconnect hot tubs, you name it. And can't get this can opener to work. This might be the challenge of my lifetime.
So put it on and do other things while it's opening. The fact I don't have to have something extra on my counter is a benefit for me. I'm in no hurry. I don't regret the purchase.
I let this item just run atop a can until I decided it would just keep going until the batteries ran out. Countless shards of slivered metal, please be aware of this if using.
Youre outta ur mind. I have arthritis both hands and Kienbock syndrome in right and i bought this and LOVE IT!! Must be you're impatient and capable of using a manual
This thing is awful. It is VERY difficult to set right. It never caught the lid properly no matter how many times I tried. The thickness of the lids varies from can to can and this does not always set correctly. I returned it in 24 hours. I do not mind waiting to save my hands. It was the difficulty catching it on the side.
LMAO, at least do a fair review by inserting fresh batteries to show the full potential of the device, your batteries were near dead. That being said, the device is slower than other methods of opening a can but it definitely works a lot better and faster than your review suggests. Yes I do own one.
Those were fresh batteries. True, they were off-brand generics, but it's what I use in all my battery operated stuff. I've had a few people say they were very happy with theirs and that's great. I just wasn't that impressed. Glad you like yours and thanks for watching!
You are not taking the lid off properly. You need to just leave the can opener on the can when it has finished and you have turned it off. Then pull back and the lid will stick to the magnet and can opens easily. I love mine, but there is a negative.....It is extremely difficult to open to change batteries. Also, it isn't painful for me (74 years old) to use a regular can opener but it is difficult as I do not have enough strength in my hand and wrist to use a cheap manual can opener. I think you said several times, "what are you doing in the kitchen anyway" I live alone and I cook all my meals and feed my doggies. The only thing I cannot do is open a can with a manual can opener. I do very well in the kitchen, thank you.............. Try to be a little less condescending. Faberware can battery operated can opener IS slow, but my goodness, you young ens are in such a hurry. How about starting the can opener and then get your pot out of the cupboard and your cooking utensils and other items you will need and by then the can will be open. Learn to adapt..... I do not intend to be negative about your video but I was looking for hints on how to replace the battery and ran across your video.....I need to keep searching.
Thankyou so much for this video. I had it on my grocery order. I’m so glad I watched your video. You saved me a lot of anguish & aggravation. GOD BLESS you. ✝️ GO JESUS! 😊🙏❤️
You are welcome. I get a lot of crap about the video, but I stand by the review overall. It's slow and sits in my drawer. Every few months try to use it and then throw it back in. It would make a great white elephant gift at Christmas time!
No see they hand held openers the blade goes inside of can touching the food. That is not good and that is called cross contamination. You would have to make sure the top of can is sanitized and make sure the cutting wheel is also sanitized. The battery operated one does not touch the food. Come on guy is common sense had to find in the town where you're located?
#1 They are not "Good" batteries. Those are 1 of the cheapest batteries on the market. When using a Good Tool in the Kitchen you should use a Quality Battery like Duracell. You get what you pay for. Wasn't you taught that? Please don't mislead viewers by saying those are good batteries. What did you get 20 AA Batteries for $1.
Totally disagree! If your batteries were in fact fresh it would not lag like that. I never have a problem with my Farberware battery can opener! The best!
Some people aren't mechanically inclined. You are in that category. I suspect more is wrong with the way you are trying to operate the can opener. I have one and it works fine. I have arthritis. A few more seconds to open a can is far better than the pain of trying to use the manual. You should not perhaps tell people not to buy something that you don't approve of when it may be you are the problem, not the product. Sorry, now that I know you are inept why would I listen to another review?
I guess you didn't watch the 100 videos showing, very clearly, how slow it is. If you have Arthritis in your hands and can no longer crank the manual can opener, it's not so slow. Maybe you give a better review next time.
I'm glad someone enjoys this can opener. I'll stand by my review; this can opener is awful. It's not advertised as "for people with arthritis", but many buy it because they have arthritis. Even though I had arthritis in both my hands and two major surgeries, it's still frustratingly slow.
It is maddeningly s l o w. I think it took 2 minutes,I thought it had stopped at one point, only to slowly growling and continue on slowly. Not a keeper at all.
Hand crank can openers are only great when the power is out, or your 20 year old electric one finally dies. I won't be buying this one though. Not a fan of searching for batteries.
This item has worked for those who are challenged with Arthritis. It's slow but it works. We have had one over to years and still going strong once you learn how to use it.
It's good to hear a positive comment! I guess I'm a little impatient when it comes to opening a can. Thanks for watching!
Happy Wife Acres you are a very rude man.
@@lurkinghistorian6113 Go "lurk" elsewhere. Your self chosen name is very telling.
Better one needs 4 batteries, thus has a higher voltage - and therefore more power.
I have 2 I ordered and neither one will open a can.
I have arthritis, and I am cooking because I love to cook! This baby worked fine for 18 months, then no more. It wasn't a battery problem - I changed the batteries. It just quit working.

I have arthritis and I love mine. Yours sounds like the batteries are run down. Thank you for showing how to open it though.
Thank you for this video! Husband just bought one and I could not figure out how to do it !!! Wish I watched this before buying 😅
Unfortunately I bought that same POS. Your review is spot on
Horrible review! My hands lack the strength to use crank type opener. This has been a miracle gadget for me. I love it! (I was watching, just hoping for some battery replacement help.) I agree with your comment regarding "horrible review"

This is a very good and thorough review. Thank you! My assessment in June 2024.
Well I'm not one that needs items opened very speedy....so if that's the only negative thing you have to say about this item...well consider it bought! I don't mind d the speed. But how do u change the battery!

You have to start the process early with this device. But I definitely had to get a counter top one that worked faster.
I love mine. When you have bad wrists, it may be a little slow but my wrists thank me!
So put it on and do other things while it's opening. The fact I don't have to have something extra on my counter is a benefit for me. I'm in no hurry. I don't regret the purchase.

Hahaha. Thank you. We are pretty impatient when we're hungry!
I let this item just run atop a can until I decided it would just keep going until the batteries ran out. Countless shards of slivered metal, please be aware of this if using.
I experienced the same issue....very slow...doesnt cut cleanly and leaves shards when it finally does cut the can.
Lol! That was painfully and hilariously slow!
It's slow but I love it
Youre outta ur mind.
I have arthritis both hands and Kienbock syndrome in right and i bought this and LOVE IT!!

Terrible.....
I get a lot of comments from people saying how they love it and I’m using bad batteries, but I stand by my review - it’s awful! Thanks for watching.
I like it. Yes it’s slow, but it works!
Doesn’t work. I end up having to use a knife,a fork and and a pair of pliers to get a can open. Waste of money

This is the worst can opener I have ever had...Going back to where I bought it.. Does not cut right . Terrible!!!
What a jerk! I love mine! I bought two of my friends who also have challenges one! I have bad arthritis and a Culinary Degree!!!!!!!
