I truly love how frantically he tries to complete the thought. So child-like, skipping from thought to thought. Beautiful though to have such an admiration towards Van Zandt. Not many people today get as excited for an artist and/or his or her work in that fashion. It's nice to see.

Somemore light on Townes.Townes was ask to do a record of lullabyes. He said" That made no sense because if the record was any good nobody would ever hear the 2nd side because you would be asleep"R.I.P. TOWNES

and the people that cant digest devendra, he is speaking so naturally that it is rare to see someone speak like that in front of the camerax thats how we speak! not the polished overly charismatic celebrities were used to seeing in talk shows and shit

I agree with Devendra Banhart's comments. In your entire lifetime there are a few artists you hear and instantly fall in love with. For me, it was Bob Dylan, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and Townes Van Zandt. I first heard Dylan in the mid '60s (1964 or '64, I believe), singing "Like a Rolling Stone" on the radio, and I was mind-blown. Then, in the late 1980s, I was living in London and saw Jimmie Dale Gilmore on BBC television in a documentary about Texas music, hosted by Kinky Friedman. JDG was hanging out on a porch in a rural area, with Kinky and Joe Ely, I think, and somebody asked Jimmie to play "Dallas"; I was instantly mesmerized. And in recent years, I discovered Townes, by surfing through movies on Netflix; the documentary "Be Here to Love Me" sounded interesting. I watched the film, and again fell in love. I hadn't heard him while he was alive because he evidently had no interest in fame or fortune. So these three--Bob, Jimmie, and Townes--captivated me, and have stayed with me, enriching my life, and taking me, in my heart and mind, to places I"d never dreamed of.

+Susan Jones "Like a Rolling Stone" came out in '65 on Highway 61 Revisited. Just an FYI, not to be Diccchead.

Yes! You could ask how much more perfect Townes Van Zandt could be... and the answer is... none. None more perfect.

"The music is like complete devotion to words. Its so perfectly made. His songs are perfect. I mean he has perfect songs. Every word chosen so perfectly."
I wish this guy would devote more time to words… Well… he DOES seem pretty devoted to the word "perfect."

I'm writing a song about birds. Gonna be nothin but bird names. I want the last verse to be Latin.
I'm paraphrasing, but i remember Townes saying something like that in "be here to love me"

    of the great musician. Clue-less.
