John martyn wasn’t commercial. But his music lives on. Love this song. JM awesome artist. He once said his songs were stories of his life. While being a fan all the time his songs were real and thoughtful. He was so good -Magic ✨💫
So I'm sat here in November 2020, in the midst of a second UK lockdown, and this track pops up on my random track hard drive.....and 1986 seems like yesterday. Astonishing song, beautiful voice, and unparalleled musicianship. I have been fortunate to see, and even meet a number of my heroes, but I never got to see JM live...and that really is my loss.
First met Ian/John at Les Cousins in Wardour St when he came down frae Glasgow with Ian Palmer (Incredible String Band), Heard Solid Air in '72. I went to Uni in'73, got maself on the Ents Committee, booked him and Danny, won't tell ye what happened after gig,no need to,in them days Ian was a bugger fer the drink and would pick on the biggest local villain in the boozer. Started a lifelong up/down miraculous relationship with a truly gifted man.
Umm....so wonderful John...you are part of the soundtrack of my life. Thank you Brian ( where ever you are now ) for introducing me to the Big mans music.
I feel that I have known you for a lifetime now, Though these eyes of mine have never touched your face. The distance between us seems so great sometimes. How I need your love to fill this empty space..
wOAH; AGAIN AND AGAIN! I'm a bit curious and I'd like to meet people who still listen and are also blown away from this unique ...music...Anyone intersted???
connollly hall cork hot house flowers in support front row had the crack with john throughout the gig what a night met him outside afterwards with his minder he gave some money to a down and out R I P..
