When I had to face the Octo Siren, I thought to myself: “I hope Squid Baron doesn’t find out.” And then after the boss, there he is, screaming about Shantae marrying the explosions on the screen. I love this guy.
At this point, Squid Baron deserves the title of "Dispenser of jokes I didn't get until much later." It all started in Pirate's Curse, when I didn't realize that his role as a filler boss extended to the entire island he was fought on being pointless to Shantae's goal. And then, in this game, I didn't even realize that his whole thing about "Dagron Balls" was in reference to the boss, called Dagron, who was also in Pirate's Curse. ...And if that wasn't enough, I'm still waiting to grasp the deeper meaning behind that "deleted scene" encounter in Risky's Revenge. No idea what was supposed to be going on there. Can't wait to miss the next joke he throws at me in the sixth game. In the meantime...I'll go cry in a corner.
I’m imagining that the joke is that he misses the sixth game, and then in the seventh game he complains about how a franchise he likes didn’t include his favorite character in the last season, and is happy they came back.
